The Bottom Line

Arsenal’s first team is like a cheese sandwich with classy, Parisian French bread, and moldy, disgusting, rotten cheese on the inside. The top layer is our first team, no injuries, all fit. It’s world class. Eduardo, Arshavin, Walcott, Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Sagna, Toure and Gallas are all on the same wavelength. They are winners, and they know how to win games, and play entertainingly at the same time. Then in the middle, our second string, we have a lot of players who are just not good enough for the French bakery that is the Emirates. These players are Eboue, Song, Diaby, Denilson, Bendtner and others. Now don’t get me wrong, every once in a while each one of those players have looked world class. But let’s get real, they are not Arsenal class, and they will not make it, they are holding the team back, and stopping the promising youngsters from progressing, which brings me to the bottom layer of the sandwich. We haven’t exactly gotten through the moldy cheese layer, but we have had hints of that great French bread on the bottom that is our promising youngsters. Among them are Fabianski, Djourou, Nordtveit, Gibbs, G. Hoyte, Wilshere, Ramsey, Frimpong, Coquelin and Vela. It seems like they are on the same level, or are going to be on the same level as the top layer of bread, but the danger is that they might get ruined by the moldy cheese.

Sorry for the disgusting analogy, but hopefully you understood. We have a world class first team with everyone fit, and the most promising group of youngsters in the world, but the in between players are shite, and when it comes down to it, they are arguably the most important players in the squad, so if your second-string, back up players are shit, your team will most likely be shit, because injuries are inevitable. And when you have a shit second string but the coach has faith in them, they will take all the playing time from the promising youngsters who deserve it, and need it, which is cause discontent, and maybe force the players to consider leaving the club. That is what is going on at Arsenal Football Club. The shit players are ruining the chances of the good players, and it has been evident all season that Ramsey, Wilshere, Vela or Djourou would do a better job that Song, Eboue or Bendtner week in week out. So the simple solution would be to sell the shit players. Not all of them, just the really shit ones, who have become liabilties to the team like Eboue and Song. Denilson and Diaby might be good, they are not liabilities, but they do not stand out, but at least they are worth keeping. So that is the simple solution: SELL THE LIABILITIES!!!

Sell Eboue and Song! Now! They are slowing the progress of the team, and they need to go.

Rant over, sorry.

You missed RVP. I agree with your mouldy middle observation. But I doubt Monsieur Wenger will sell Song , Denilson or Diaby. He might sell Eboue – i hope he does. Ramsey & Wilshere will be take a year to blend in anyway. I hope he plays R, W and Vela more often in days to come

Persevere with Bendtner and take the cash for RVP and Adebayor. They are both arrogant lazy twats who are consistently under performing. Bring in a striker like Villa,Hunterlar,Benzema and put them with Eduardo, Arshavin etc and see the movement pay dividends.

Fed up with the great RVP falling over or complaining when the ball isn’t at his feet. His runs are awful and make the passer look shit. The myth that he is a goalscorer doesn’t stack up and he has been our MAIN striker these past few months when we have fired more blanks than I can ever remember.

Take out the liability in defence which are the so called keeper and Clichy who is totally over rated and we could be there. Swap Toure for the big CB and keep Gallas. A tough running CM and job done.

A completely immature commentary if I ever read one. You sing the praises of the young kids as if you watched them play week in, week out.

“It seems like they are on the same level, or are going to be on the same level as the top layer of bread”. Rubbish analogies aside, that statement is completely baseless. The kids aren’t ready for the rigours of regular Premiership football, and the likes of Bendtner, Song and Eboue, whom you’ve labelled with such contempt, are further along in the development line. Not every young player can be a Fabregas or an Vieira and real fans would do well to remember that, instead of jumping on the players’ backs everytime a pass is misplaced, or shooting opportunity wasted.

Bendtner’s goal tally this season merits a mention, as does a few of Song’s displays as a holding midfielder. Out of the 5 you’ve mentioned, maybe 2 will prove themselves to be Arsenal-class, but patience is needed. Throwing the likes of Wilshere, Coquelin and Ramsey into the deep end, as exciting as it may seem, would be downright foolish. If you compare the squad from the end of last season with our current set of players, you would realise that we’ve effectively traded Hleb for Arshavin, Nasri and a confident Theo Walcott. Flamini is the obvious loss but if one of Song, Denilson or Diaby demonstrates more consistency, we’re in excellent shape.

Let’s keep things in context. This season has been disappointing overall, but we’re in the QF of the CL and FA Cup, and gaining on Villa for 4th. Not good enough? Probably, but then we’ve had key players out for months at a time. Imagine United without Ronaldo and Berbatov and Vidic for half a season.

Lastly, while the purist in me rates Eboue about as much as a discarded nutshell, he’s still a decent wingback, and God help anyone who honestly believe Hoyte is a better backup to Sagna. He’s a utility man who needs to understand the limits of his ability and keep things simple. When he does, he’s an asset.
