Should we bring Buffon to Arsenal?

Buffon  Has hinted he may leave Juventus.

With speculation of the Italien International wanting to depart from Juventus, it has became an option to bring him to London. Manchester United and Arsenal could both be on the brink of approaching the 32 year old.

Van Der Saar, 39, who looks set to retire at the end of season could be an option for United, and with Almunia not looking the full outfit in goal for Arsenal, this can certainly be a good signing if he were to come to the Emirates.

It is about time we got a world class keeper since Jens Lehmen left the club, we need that stability at the back. I would take Buffon anyday over Almunia.

Opinions please….

Yes lets bring messi in aswell, we will never pay 30mil for a player, Dream on!!

  2. sam says:

His wages could be a problem. The prof is too yight fisted but if Arsenal want to challenge, a wc player is needed.

  3. Dennis The Menace says:

Without a doubt. Unfortunately Almunia will never be good enough for us. He is a liability waiting to happen. Buffon has experience, respect and still time on his side. A proven winner.

  4. Ralph says:

    No thanks.

Don’t think it’s a good idea to sign a nazi sympathiser at all.

  5. Rickard Fransson says:

Not a hard choise, Buffon seven days a week over shitty Almunia! But, keep dreaming gooners, Wenger will NEVER bring in Buffon :(

  6. frankie says:

    yes, yes and yes.

  7. Boris says:

    Yes.

Didn’t realise he is still so young (for a keeper). Sadly won’t happen though

  8. Dublin Gunner!!! says:

Please wenger, you could of signed Shay given please don’t slip up an not sign him!!

  9. Mean Lean says:

Should we bring Buffon to Arsenal?

    Who is ‘we’ ?

  10. rayman says:

Yes best keeper in the world, with about 5 more years left at top level, would be an immense improvement on what we have at the club. No idea about his politics, I dare say if we knew what all the players thought on religion, racism etc we would have hardly any players at the club, footballers aren’t usually the brightest and god knows what nonsense most of them buy into.

  11. gringo says:

    sell Almunia buy Buffon period

  12. Pritpal says:

    Yes definately! Break the bank!
    Unfotunately it’s never gonna happen.

  13. Ralph says:

Rayman – you only have to google the scum to find out about him and his disgusting politics.

He is an unrepentant nazi and supporter of Hitler; there’s no way we should be thinking of having ‘his sort’ at our multi-racial club.

  14. drasl says:

Why would he leave ? He stuck with Juve through the scandal troubles and now when they are finally ready to challenge for the title again, he is sold/leaves ? Dont think theres any chance of that happening.

  15. Robinson Emmanuel says:

Almunia is a trash we somebody like buffon it will be a good signing….

  16. NO says:

    no, no, no, no, no!

  17. Dublin Gunner!!! says:

We would win all around us if we got Buffon!! I don’t care what he is, as rayman says most footballers are stupid anyway,

  18. trollz says:

so what? Pope is a Nazi Youth member. We judge players on the pitch.

    Bring him to Emirates!

  19. Baz says:

    Are you being serious?
Youve gotta realise one day that WORLD CLASS players like buffon etc and NOT going to be signed by arsenal.
    Why?
Because we cant afford them. Not only will Juventus demand a phenomenal price for him, but his wages will be astronomical aswell.

Its not as though Wenger, Hill-Wood etc lead us on to believe that we can sign these players, infact they do the opposite! I recall Hill-Wood stating to many occasions that these sort of players wont be joining arsenal in the near future.

With teams like Chelsea, Man City, Real Madrid, Barcelona floating around there is no way that we can compete financially.

  20. Lee says:

Who cares about politics if he can play great football thats all i care about, his personal life is up to him aslong as he performs on the pitch.

  21. herdee string says:

What a dumb fucking question – of course.

  22. PSL says:

    Ralph,

He has denied any Nazi connections many times. You’re obviously refering to; a) His choice of no. at Parma. 88. Which translates to HH. Which in turn can be infered as Hier Hitler. For him, 88 represented ’4 balls’. Signifying grit and determination. Disturbing maybe, but certainly not ‘fascist’.

    b) Wearing a shirt bearing the message “Death to cowards”. That too was a prank played by someone.

Atleast google up something before attempting to tarnish someones image.

He’s one hell of a goalkeeper. An absolute freak of nature. And at 32, still got his best years as a keeper ahead of him.

  23. LouGooner says:

YES PLEASE! we need to make a statement and this would scare the sh*t out of people! Since when do political affiliations have anything to do with your players?

  24. Gooner All Day Long says:

I think the question should be:

Could we bring buffon to Arsenal?

The Answer is…… no! Being that we are the only top side in europe without a top keeper i would imagine we would snap him up instantly but it will never happen. . How the hell can teams like Villa, Bolton, Birmnigham, West Ham, and Man City have better keepers than us?

Its a joke!! And i aint frekkin laughin!!

    Next question..

  25. Marinello says:

I’ll drive him here if there’s any chance we can get him.

  26. Ralph says:

    PSL

    1. The t-shirt wasn’t a prank it’s a very well known fascist motto in Italy and there’s absolutely no way he did it in any innocence.

    2. 4 balls? Do me a favour! You don’t really believe that cobblers surely.

    3. What about his membership of a fascist party (including doing campaigning for them) and his stated praise for Mussolini – not to mention his support for Mussolini’s granddaughter?

    4. What about the (never denied) donations to right wing groups and stated support for neo-nazi ultra groups?

This isn’t an attempt to tarnish someone – it’s merely bringing to people’s attention that the guy is a Nazi and should not be anywhere near our club.

  27. ian says:

u must be kidding… have wenger ever spend big on a keeper? look at what lehmann cost him, his best signing of a keeper. And richard wright, his most expensive keeper signing at 6mil.

we have to be rational bro. signing gigi buffon would cost us an entire back four…

  28. Dave says:

Yes please. We could put Almunia and Fabranski in goal together and I still wouldn’t be confident.

One decent goal keeper and I might be able to sleep at night.

  29. E-ON says:

I am sure there are many players out there in many teams that have different beliefs from one and other. Arsenals team is probably the most multi-cultured team in the world. Being as nazi off the pitch DOES NOT effect the players abilities on the pitch. I say Buy him before he goes Manure and just adds to the qualities to make them a harder team to beat!

  30. oskar says:

The problem with all the fascist bullshit is that Gigi Buffon is a known closet case homosexual. Why would he whole heartedly support a group of people who would lynch him if they knew.

I say bring him to Arsenal. It’s about football and what he does on the pitch, not political allegiances!

  31. GunnerPete says:

The sad fact is that nowdays we allow anyone to play in UK despite having lothsome politics just look how many working class Tories are at the Emirates this season!

If Buffon is a natzi then he should never be allowed in the UK, let alone play for the Gunners.
Anyway, we need tw world class goalies thats a fact….Loach from Watford and Szczesny would be great, but Arsene will not see it. He will not admit we have several of his kids that are sub standard and only good enough for Spurs or Portsmouth etc. ie; Denilson, Almunia, Fabianski, and Traore….sell the lot now and buy Smalling and Loach.

  32. Mers says:

Who cares about his politics. if he helps to reduce the amont of goals we are conceeding thats all that matters!
Can’t be any worse than Almunia.

  33. Mers says:

Gunnerpete, Denilson sub standard ? You obviously don’t watch many games. I’m a season ticket holder and go to most away games, and have not witnessed these so called sub standard performances you are talking about. You probably base most of your opions on MOD highlights.

  34. eLM says:

i think he is too expensive

  35. Alan D says:

    r u mad messi earns 200,000 a week

  36. Byron Martino says:
