[Video] Carlos Vela's goal vs Italy

Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Alberto Medina exposed a slow, ragged Italy defense in Mexico’s 2-1 victory over the defending World Cup champions Thursday, giving the Mexicans a major boost heading to the tournament.

Vela took a high pass from Giovani Dos Santos in the center and without any serious challenge lined up a drive from 12 yards that gave goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon no chance in the 16th minute.

Ten minutes from the final whistler, substitute Medina beat Italy’s offside trap, and from a tight right angle beat Buffon.

Italy pulled one back in the 89th minute when defender Leonardo Bonucci scored from close range after Salvatore Bocchetti hit the goalpost.

he and vela need a good year next year, as so far haven’t been that impressive. turn the potential into actual. i have always liked vela though hopefully he has a good world cup and comes back full of confidence. and hopefully theo can have a break this summer as last summer played for england and u21s, hopefully theo steps up and vela gets more chances.

    GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL

    LMAO

ANYWAY Vela’s way better than theo and would be starting if he was english!! So biased, such a pity!!! All he needs is games!! 10 in a row!! but unfortunately he doesnt and i can see him leaving!! But to tell the truth spurs’s dos santos is looking like a real talent aswell on par or even a tad better!! always involved!! But vela has got great movement and finishing!!!

    nice goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal.

i agree with hnic, if vela was english he’d be starting games, walcott might be faster than vela but that’s all he has over him (and that’s all he’s good at running fast, no end product)

if vela was given all chances theo’s had he’d show his class ….
