[Ratings] Arsenal 1-1 AC Milan

Arsenal 1-1 AC Milan

So what did today tell us?..Not much, pretty much the same old Arsenal.

The two new signings look pretty good and will do well for us. We still cant deal with set plays and balls into the box and we still cant finish teams off…

Arsenal Ratings

Lukasz Fabianski 7/10 – No chance with the goal, Did everything well.

Thomas Vermaelen (c) 7.5/10 - Looked solid and good to see him with the armband.

Laurent Koscielny 8.5/10 – Looks a decent player.  Fast, good on the ball and alittle bit nasty. Great game

Emmanuel Eboue 7/10 – Showed good pace going forward, always willing to give us something on the right.

Kieran Gibbs 6.5/10 – Went forward well but wasteful with his final ball.

Tomas Rosicky 6/10 - Didnt give his much.

Samir Nasri 7.5/10 - Some great runs and tight control. Looks to be up for the new season.

Jack Wilshere 6/10 – Poor game by young Jack, Tried to much and held onto the ball 2 long and wasteful with his passing.

Emmanuel Frimpong 8/10 – Full of energy, I really like him. Only 18 and was bulling Seedorf & Gattuso. Massive prospect.

Andrey Arshavin 7/10 - Started the game slowly but busted into life and set up the goal.

Marouane Chamakh 8.5/10 – Scored a goal and worked very hard for the team. Showed some nice skills, Looks a fine player.

* Substitutes
Bacary Sagna 6/10 – Still cant cross a ball
Johan Djourou 5/10 – came on and played CM, but didnt have the energy of Frimpong
Gael Clichy 6.5/10 – Looked pretty good
Mark Randall 4/10 – Oh dear, Missed TWO chances in a row. Poor passing. Has never looked an Arsenal player.
Theo Walcott 7/10 – Looks like a man with a point to prove. Showed some good pace and tested the keeper.
Carlos Vela 7/10 – Showed some great skills and was unlucky not to score

Was delighted to see Koscienly play a fantastic game. Can’t believe some Gooners were ALREADY criticising him (too thin, unknown from Ligue 2 etc etc).

  2. RoyalArsenal04 says:

you cant believe gooners were already criticizing him? i sure can, there are some people who think wenger shouldnt be there, why not just go for a different team rather than criticizing every aspect of ours…

  3. Viejo says:

Pretty fair ratings overall i’d say. Fabianski i thought did really well and made some incredible saves. I need to see a replay but i thought he got a touch on the shot that hit the xbar. As for the goal he did hesitate and maybe could have come for it but it should have been cleared before then anyway.
JD had a shocker and it was his missed header that crucially lead to the goal, but i’m not going to condemn him as he was clearly off the pace after his injury and Wenger only put him on to practice and improve that very thing.
Randall was unlucky imo. Should have scored yes, but keeper saved well.

The other thing i noticed during the game was that we’re not crossing the ball at the best moment. Each time they get a clear chance to cross (usually on right side) they will stop turn turn turn pass back pass back again pass back again turn cross. By that time everyone is static in the box and the runs are blocked or lose their surprise. If they just bloody crossed the damn thing 1st time when the runs are being made we might actually score.

  4. Stephen says:

still need a keeper (mannone?) and a couple of big hard defensive midfielders, or the big teams, ie man u and chelski will roll over us again.

  5. jimmy says:

fair ratings although i think gibbs did well (7 rating). made good runs forward and did well defensively (prefer him to cliche), and yes some passes were waisteful but show me a player who didnt. chamakh looked good, made a few mistplaced passes so his rating drops to a 8 for me, but overall he had a decent game and took his goal well. was really impressed with koscienly, had a great game. but while he is good technically and reads the game well, i feel that we still havent covered our setpiece frailties. we just dont have height in there and against drogba, crouch and zigic we will really battle. otherwise agree with all the ratings and decent game by the lads. hope we give celtic a thrashing tomoro!

  6. Ian Cameron says:

Overall a good opportunity to see how the players have developed. Fabianski tries too hard and panics in highly pressured situations (notice when he switched the ball to his left foot to clear the ball out of his box) otherwise I believe that he is up for the challenge of possibly becoming the next ‘no. 1′. Chamackh holds the ball up well… sometimes a bit too much as I wanted to see his ability to take on defenses one-on-one and his ability to score. It appears that as time went on in the game he realized that he needed to show his skill and composure with a very controlled shot on goal and a great piece of trickery with his back flicked pass to Arshavin. Nasri has developed into a fine player who has honed his skills and abilities; he will be a terror to defenses… lets just hope that he isn’t the next victim of some skill-less brute who gets his feelings hurt. Arshavin seems to also be a bit more settled into the team showing us every bit of why he will be such an important player this season with his wide array of skill. Walcott has amazing potential but wants to impress sometimes to his detriment; he needs to trust in his abilities more and the composure will come. New signing Koscielny looks good today; he is not the most physically demanding figure but he showed today why he has progressed so rapidly in his footballing career. He has a great ability to anticipate movement and has very sharp reflexes. His size also helps him stay very close to the opposing players. He could benefit from gaining some more muscle but must retain his speed and precision. I am not going to go much further into every player but Frimpong played well, layed off one wayward pass but otherwise did very well. Eboue played with much vigor and purpose, I just hope that if he is used as a winger that he has practiced his shooting for this season. Gibbs’ positioning and overlapping play was great, a bit too loose in his crossing. Vela is carrying his confidence from the World Cup great abilities. Wilshere has it all but like Walcott simply needs to trust in his abilities and gain a bit more composure; his time will come. I look forward to the new season.

  7. Adesoji Minkail says:

It was a good game but we still need a goal keeper and a defender, we have a good replacement in the midfield in Frimpong.
    And maybe one more striker.

  8. welshgooner says:

Stephen, what did you think of Frimpong? I mean i’d heard the impressive things people had been saying about the swiss games and barnet but today was the big test against some world class opposition, granted a friendly but the E.C always provides a pretty stern test. I must say i was very very impressed. His strength and guile were really refreshing to see, he was muscling players (Gattusso, Flamini) off the ball with no apparant difficulty, snapping at their heels and winning the ball back and also having the composure to play some very nice passes into the forwards. If he gets his place in the first team squad this season i would feel pretty relaxed and confident having him as back up to the mighty song. Only 19 too, lets hope he gets a chance this season to show what he can do for us. We have needed more players in this mould for a while now.

  9. Mik says:

We still need a couple of DMs? I think that we will have to stick with what we have and I trust Wenger with this decision. After all most “fans” wanted him to sell Song last summer. The Youtube-Scouts then identified Lorik Cana as the perfect DM for Arsenal and look where he is now.

I agree with the ratings. I have been very disappointed with Djourou. In every game so far he made some bad mistakes. If we see him play this year he might have a similar impact as Silvestre.

I feel that it is too early for Wilshere to play a bigger role in the first team. He is trying too hard and a loan to a PL team would be much better for everyone. But I doubt that this will happen.

  10. Jordan says:

Sorry guys as I live in australia I don’t get to watch the game .just when did they score ? When Frimpong was sub ? Is that why they scored? If that the case if we have him or song in DM we would be able to hold them off and go and win the game . Chamakh is a good player .what would the score line be? If we have Cesc in the team ?

  11. Leebo says:

    We NEED a new keeper!

  12. Mik says:

They scored after Wenger took Frimpong out and replaced him with Djourou. He also subbed Chamakh with Randall. Two changes for the worse.

Wenger critized Fabianski after the game, saying that he wasn’t commanding in the box when Milan scored. He also said though that overall Fabianski had a very good game.

If Cesc would have played instead of Wilshere we might have won the game. Nasri had another outstanding performance and I am really looking forward to see more of him.

  13. Danish Gooner says:

Great game by Koz but still have grave concerns when it comes to the physical nature of the PL.Like to see him beef up then he might make it.

  14. Kipmonster says:

I propose that Arsenal fans World wide post letters once a week for the next four weeks to UEFA & FIFA complaining about Barcelona FC’s ‘tapping up’ of Cesc Fabregas. Also post a letter just once to Arsenal FC requesting that they formally complain to UEFA & FIFA. I have drawn up 3 template letters that I will email to willing participants. All you need to do is type in your own Name & Address before printing off & posting. Momentum will be boosted by you forwarding the email to every one of your Arsenal FC fan family & friends, encouraging them to participate.
The aim of repetitive letters is to create an Admin headache for UEFA & FIFA with thousands of letters received from all over the world & display the strength of feeling from Arsenal FC fans. The purpose of the single letter to Arsenal FC is again to display the strength of feeling from us fans.
My email address for this campaign from where I will email you the letter templates is …….. ArsenalFansHateBarcelonaFC@gmail.com

  15. Gorkhaligunner says:

We had a very gud game overall indeed we need our left and right backs to improve their crosses .both the new signings chamakh and kos look sharp kos was better than what I expected and i guess we really need to improve while defending set pieces . I guess mertesaker would be get signing and I more keeper plz….. And next season we r ready go gunnerrrrsss

  16. dimi says:

oh wow WENGER DOES IT AGAIN!! I know some of you people don’t want to admit it but The Kos will be another great signing, you saw what he did. M.C was just ass good, the man know how to sign good players. Now I’m not saying that he shouldn’t buy any more, I hope he does but can you see why it takes a while and why he’s so picky when he buys these players. I’m almost sure another CB is coming but I don’t know about a goal keeper :(

  17. Baban gombe nigeria says:
