Report : In our final game before the big kick off, lets just say we looked weak at the back.
In goal, Wenger started with Fabianski who had a nightmare and Arsenal were 3-0 down within 35 mins. Yet again it was Fabianski failing to deal with balls into the box.
But we cant just blame the keeper, Wenger played our best back four in Sagna,Koscielny,Vermaelen & clichy and they all looked terrible. Koscielny was all over the place
3-1 down at half time after Chamakh scored a brave header after nice work by Nasri, Wenger made some changes bringing on Szczesny, Gibbs, Eboue and Vela.
And the subs all played there part, Szczesny made a great double save,Eboue scoring 2, Gibbs getting a fine goal with Vela getting 2 assists. Jay Thomas and Nasri also adding late goals before Legia scored 2 more late goals for it to finish 5-6 to Arsenal
So…what do we make of this? … Well Arsene has had all summer to sort out the same problems. We have been crying out for a GK and a powerful CB… Still nothing so the same old problems still stand and are yet to be address..Wenger told Arsenal.com that he was still not sure who was our number 1 keeper?… Well Arsene its so simple that even you must now be able to see…”THEY ARE BOTH SHITE”... With only 1 week till the liverpool game and no sign of new signings.. BE WORRIED, ITS GOING TO BE A LONG SEASON! and I say its going to be our worst under Wenger.

The defending is a joke, friendly or not, to concede five goals just goes to show how crap our defence is. Please somebody give wenger a kick up the backside and tell him to sign a world class goalkeeper, CB and defensive midfielder or you can kiss goodbye to finishing in the top 10 let alone top 4!!!!
What I learnt was:-
1. Our defence is shit.
2. Playing the high line and hoping for offsides is the way to get trashed – there is no limit on how many goals we will concede playing that way
3. We don’t need a new defender – we need several
4. In spite of looking great going forward, we will ruin all the goo work with crap defending
5. Jack Wilshire is still excellent
We are in big big trouble going in to this season – no keeper and quite possibly our worst back 4 in 4 in wengers era – although wenger will spin this as a brillant win – great comeback etc etc

yes you are right, we should all be worried about the goalkeeping and defense but one man is not worried. he is the man who has lost touch with reality. who looks at our two clowns in goal and sees nothing but good things. he believes in them, they do nor believe in themselves. cesc does not believe in any of them including wenger because he wants to jump ship but the ship he wants to jump on is sinking into a sea of debt.

Nick everyone has not just suddenly gone all negative we are making the same mistakes as previous season and wenger is not resolving them simple as plus I dont wont to hear it was just a pre season game and so on so was missing the simple truth is that every player should be trying their hardest to impress to get into the team against liverpool.
Nick, thats the problem, its a pre-season match against the first half decent team we’ve played the whole pre-season and we conceed 5 (3 of which were comical) goals. You know, I know we all know whats going to happen throughout the season.

It is obvious to the whole world that Fabianski will never be an averagely good kipper let alone world class, except to Wenger. His nonchalant attitude with regards to improving the squad will leave Arsenal in another catastrophe even before the season is well under way.Arsenal’s defence is absolutely pathetic, it is the worst defence an Arsenal side has produced ever. In life you either go up or go down if Wenger fails to deliver once again Arsenal would simply cement it’s reputation as an Academy and not a serious club. The problem with Arsenal is that Wenger is a dictator who nobody has the nerves to question. Shambolic and classless,the days of big tone and Keown scaring the shit out of players are well and truly over,we now have a defense that will conceed at least 40 goals,mark my word but the problem also consist from midfield absolutely no cover whatsoever any attacker can just run staright through a gaping hole,Paddy,Manu and Romford Pele used to shield the back four,today some of our midfielders should be ashamed of themselfes especially that czech twat.Dear ohh dear it is gonna be one long season ahead.How do anyone think we can come out of Anfield with any decent result that wily old fox Roy will have this defense for breakfast.
i wouldn’t say sagna or clichy are our best wing backs, both get caught out of position and neither cross well enough to make up for their defensive frailties. before people dismiss this as heresy compare how many goals we concede down the right channel when sagna is playing instead of eboue.
Obviously you guys never watched Arsenal in the 70s under Terry Niel…when we had to fight to save relegation…..

We need a goalkeeper but as i’ve always said when stupid tiresome blogs demand this player or that player;
1. We need to have the funds to buy the player plus his contarct (it comes from the same kitty)
2. The selling club needs to agree to sell
3. The player himself needs to want to sign for us.
Fabregas isn’t at Barcelona because those 3 points were not met. This is real life not fucking Championship Manager.
If we want a player and the club doesn’t want to sell then we don’t get that player – simples!
The transfer market has been dead apart from Man City and their endless pot of money. Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd and Spurs generally spend/waste milliosn each summer – none of them have done anything this summer
Well we have spoken for years now and nothing has changed so dont expect anything to change in the remaining 3 weeks. May be we just have to bring the Gallas man back when he is fit he a real force. Other than that the new man wont do miracles for us in the defence even if he didnt come in cheap. Just imagine you are losing one nil and all the players you have are short , small and non except 2 who are able to head the ball properly. You have been frustrated for 80 mins with plan A and cant change to plan B bse your players wont adapt, very intresting indeed but its not new anyway it has been like that for the last 5 years therefore just enjoy the game and dont look at the scores.
I was worried before we conceded two goals against a very poor Celtic team. I’d like to see David Moyes at Arsenal. Some people might ridicule the idea, but he’s performed miracles at Everton with even less money than Wenger, & being forced to sell stars like Rooney & Lescott.
Just watched Arsenal game,somethings never change new season 1 week away what was that! Not to much to shout about in the defence,scare the life out of you but not the opposition!!! Some fun will be had against us if we play as badly defensively against the scousers!!! What did Fabianski do wrong other than the goal from the corner?
The first goal wasn’t his fault, the third goal wasn’t his fault.
The only thing he did wrong was trip over his own man’s leg for the second goal.
Wenger is deluded and the “AKB” brigade are living in the past.EVERY Arsenal supporter worth their salt knows that we need a “Premiership Ready” Centre Back (Cahill,Jagielka or Haagerland).We need a Mature Capable Goalkeeper to mentor Chesney and be worth his place over the next few seasons (Frey,Handanovic,or even Schwarzer) and a central midfielder who is both comfortable on the ball and is capable of defending (Marcherano,Melo,Parker).With Gibbs,Vermaelen,Fabregas,Nasri,Arshavin,Song,Van Persie and possibly Chamakh (Ramsey when fit);there is the basis of a good side.Noticeably I have not included Clichy,Sagna nor Walcott in that list as i believe them to be mediocre at best (the Frenchmen seem to have forgotten how to defend and Walcott is as good as Capello thinks him to be! ie not good enough)

to judge the team based on this game for the coming season seems very premature. the 1st team has had one change- gallas4kos. with the transfer window still open is kos even his replacement? maybe hes left it this late for a replacement because the target in mind has pl experience? though i hope its that cetin geeza personally. we finished 3rd last year due to injuries last year. now all of a sudden after we get rid of the sulky gallas, the manure silver spy, senderos, eddy(good luck mate), merida etc… we not as good?!

Its ok to say this is a friendly but what will happen when we come up against Man U and Chelski this season? Can you honestly see us keeping a clean sheet against them? No.
Over 2 legs in the knockout stages of the Champions League will we have enough over 2 legs to beat RM,Barca etc? NO.
As it stands with the current team we will play pretty football but when it comes to the crunch we are going to fall short again.
AW must realise we have too many average players and not enough grit in the team and needs to splash the cash asap.
Last words, all respect to Eboue after everything he has been through he just seems to be getting stronger all the time and his attitude is 2nd to none. I hope he stays with us to the end of his career as not only should he be ahead of Walcott but he obviously is the main man off the pitch aswell and everyone at Arsenal loves him. That video of him against North Korea just sums the guy up he’s not just a decent player but a comedy god.

Arsenal aren’t intelligent enough as a team. We can only play one way, that’s why Chelsea and manu always beat us. There is no versatility and we cannot defend as a team. even if the best defenders where here, the philosophy and defensive teachings given to the team seems poor. We dont defend like a team, and we dont learn about our opposition. We are so one sided that teams dont look at our squad sheet, but just play us rough, 5 man midfield, pacy wingers etc. That’s all they need to kill us. Man utd and Chelsea can paly passing game like us, they can play hard, they dont concede so many stupid goals. Its embarrasing.
Bad result but relax guys. Chelsea got smashed the othe week and have lost nearly every pre season game and utd lost to some dud American team so it’s not the end of the world. The boys have been training flat out and ther prob tired. But I do agree u shouldn’t b conceding 5 no matter what. I rekon wer gonna realise how good gallas was this season. I’m pretty confident that by the end of next week Given or Hart will b at arsenal. I dont think it’s fair to knock koscielny today. He didnt do much wrong. I dont actually think any of the defenders were particularly poor individually, but there seemed to be too much of a gap between the defence and midfield, which was exploited expertly by a technically gifted Legia attack.
Too often they were able to play eachother in behind our defence. We saw this last season as well, mostly on the break. This NEVER used to happen to previous wenger sides, except occasionally against Man Utd or other top teams. Most of the goals we would concede seemed to be long rangers, or occasionally from set pieces, although nowhere near as frequently as last season. I can only hope they pull it together for next week or we will be taken apart again. A new CB is in order regardless because we dont have the numbers, but I think we need a backup for song as well. I doubt we would have conceded 5 with him in the side, but I dont know who else from our squad would have made that much of a difference.. Maybe diaby, but he’s not as reliable as alex for that job yet. I’d love it if we could bring flamini back. He’d kick this team into shape, although, I think gibbs can offer similar qualities in midifield, plus he has some extra attacking qualities. That kid is going to be class.
Shame the same cant be said about theo, not with any conviction at least. When is wenger going to drop him? He needs some time away from the arsenal 1st team because its damaging to be playing basically a man down in many matches. It would be nice if we could offer him to bolton on loan, but his wages are a serious issue.. Theo is Wenger’s biggest mistake imo.

Fabianski-blew his chance and is a liability How many times do we have to see this? The problem is in his head.He should not play for the first team again.
I believe the defenders collectively had a bad day and thats not always a bad thing in pre-season as its a good wake up call. Sagna and Clichy don’t look ready and the two centre backs display was a cause for concern.The problem is we dont have a workable midfield-yes we can attack when we have possession and space, but almost to a man we cant defend when we dont have the ball-its like we think we only have to play half the game.
We cant go into the Liverpool game with Frimpong and Wilshere and Walcott in midfield-we’ll get trounced. Lets hope Song and Denilson are fit-both of whom haven’t played a proper pre-season. I must say that on the evidence of this display, I do fear in our first game we will do well to keep the score down. The whole squad is too weak defensively to have any realistic chance of winning anything.
I’m sure you posted this exact same thing when we lost to Valencia in our final pre-season match last year. Everything is going to be fine, top 4 at the least for the Gunners. IN ARSENE WE TRUST

Wenger should be charged with criminal negligence.To be persisting with the two fools who pass as goalkeepers, and not sign two more c.b.’s and a DM, is shameful. His inflated ego won’t allow him to swallow his pride, and admit that his faith in certain players is misplaced. He is trying desperately to prove that his judgment is right, and everyone else is wrong.
He is gambling everything this season on one last throw of the dice so that his obsessive belief in this team can be vindicated. It’s the last year of his contract. Let’s hope he leaves.Thanks for the memories, Arsene, but you’ve outstayed your welcome.

You don’t buy a solid defence. Ok, we need a new keeper but a solid defence is created in the training ground with every day practices. I don’t think they train at all.
The most important thing is to bring in someone who can teach defending.
What seems to be obvious is that the team don’t do defensive drills to sort out the defensive problems. Do we have a defensive coach? Why isn’t Keown part of the coaching staff? Remember how many clean sheets we kept in 2006 when Keown was part of the back room staff? Those clean sheets were no coincidence. Why can’t Wenger see that?
The hight of instanity is to continue to do the same thing expecting different outcomes!!!!
I feel so sorry for Wenger. Good debate everyone – he was once a brilliant manager but his dramatic failings now show him now to be quite an average manager at best. Maybe we need a season in a relegation dogfight b4 people really need to start waking up. We will probably tonk a few teams this year with our attacking flair but you can bet we will also be tonked by the big boys.
