Arsenal are a joke in the transfer market

It really is a joke the way Arsenal do there business in the transfer market. why do we always do this?

We always try and get players on the cheap, Savilla said that Arsenal’s offer for Squillaci was insufficient. And now Arsenal have angered Fulham with a second £2million bid for Mark Schwarzer – the SAME as one rejected in May. Now talks have stalled after furious Fulham threw out the cheeky bid.

AW have said there is considerable money to spend, So why are we hunting around in pound shops hunting for bargains?… if they are the players we want then just pay the going rate. Squilaci and Schwarzer are hardly world class players and for the pair of them it would cost us no more then £10m, again shows a small club mentality.

£10m to get the players we need and Arsenal are refusing to do so and are willing to wait till the last min just to save a few pennies. But its a dangerous game Arsenal are playing. They did this with Alonso a few years ago and missed out.

We made £34m in transfer fees last season and still money in the bank from this years dealings plus Christ knows how much saved in losing 8 wages off the books.

What I don’t get is this… With the sales of Traore, Simpson, Fran and saving on wages from Gallas, Silvestre, Campbell & Senderos. With only 2 players coming in and 1 of them was a FREE how can we still be penny pinching?

Be prudent with the money, but £10m in getting 2 needed players ain’t going to send us into Leeds and Pompey is it?… Its just Arsenal being tight f**king wads.

Nobody can balance the books like Arsene, and that my friends is the ONLY reason why he has just got a new deal at Arsenal.

Do we need keeper? YES. Do we need a CH? YES. Do we need a DM as back up for Song? YES!

With only 11 days till the window shuts, Wenger and his puppet board are playing games in the transfer market, JUST PAY THE GOING RATE!

I doubt they will buy anyone and Wenger will come out with the usual “garbage “of we tried but no one was selling”

Every f**king years the same. Injuries followed by Wenger saying “They will be like a new signing” when they return.

And then we get the great news on to try and paper over the cracks by trying to get us all excited about the f**king clock. or the great news that we have just signed some 14 yr old from Timbuktu.

IM SICK OF THIS!….Where’s the ambition to win things anymore? Arsenal are a big club with a small club mentality.

No reason to think AW will ever change. Why succum to his big lies, rumours and childish brain game. Arsenal is better of without Wenger. He was born naturally conservative with litle to offer other than grooming young talent. We either live by this or quit to other clubs to avoid stress. Wenger, there is nothing much you can deliver with your old ideaology and game plan. LEAVE ARSENAL NOW. YOU ARE REAL BULL CHEAT.

Thanks alot Mr Wenger, by attempting yet again to sign good but past their prime players in the bargain bucket, and still squabbling about the change, what a wonderfully message this indeed sends out to the likes of VP, AA, TV and of course captin FAB! Now I’m going to forget for a minute that FAB hasn’t done a Ronaldo and this year is not going to be his swansong, what a sign of ambition, his side, the one that has won nothing for 5 years is counting his pennies and haggling for players in the pound shop! This year Barca have bought Villa for £35, identified him and spent the going rate, it would appear again that we have no ambition. FAB good luck for next summer, I can totally understand why you want to go!

It makes me laugh when I remember the start of the transfer window, AW publicly stating that this year he has real money to play with, that the flats in Highbury Square are nearly all sold and the loan for the stadium is being re paid faster than expected. That the 5 year plan for being extremely cautious was now over! And then….. Nothing! With the money from the sales in the bank we are in credit again. Great news for the accountant, bad news for the fans. I think that AW has forgotten how to spend, and subsequently Arsenal to win. I love my club, but I fear for them.

In this issue, i am not to blame any one rather than Arsenal fans, because if they stop wasting their money watching this nonsense, may be they will change this stupid attitudes.

I would not have said it any better, Wenger thinks he is smarter then all Arsenal Fans, coming up with stories year after years, personally i will never forgive him for letting Gallas go, if you think of the amount he is now trying to pay for the new mid level defenders he plans to sign, and think of how much it would have cost him to keep gallas at list for a year or two, i have seen Squillaci play live many times, you cant compare him to gallas in anyway, last two years i almost stopped supporting arsenal when he failed to sign Alonso because of less then two million, a player that was itching for the move to arsenal, this year he has also failed to sign Balotelli a player that was almost begging for a move to arsenal, today i can tell arsenal fans that Balotelli would have truly become the new Henry for us, let just see what he will say again at the end of this years transfer window.

I tell you, I have and will continue to support the manager, players and the club’s board to the hilt – it wasn’t easy keeping the wolves from the door when the likes of Dein and the Eastern Baron von Greenback were at the gates, and of course we respect them, those guys know their way around a spreadsheet.

But for f*^ks sake… if we’re not gonna compete at the top top level, tell it the fans straight (or at least cut some of the crap). We’re not glory hunters but we’ve gone from the Sultans of the transfer market to total non-competitors, psychologically throwing in the towel summer after summer.

Like someone said above, we’d all be AMAZED if this squad won a title, amazed! In the NBA every season the teams who have ambitions to play in the finals spend the off-season and most of the year trying to build a starting team that will match PLAYER for PLAYER the personnel the teams they’re likely to face. You have a Kobe Bryant, we need to get a LeBron James. For 90-95% of the season if we’re lucky we go okay but when it comes down to it, we are just not stocked with matchwinners down the spine the way we should be.

The list of players that have moved in the last 3 seasons all over europe is huge and what have we done? Made profits, a big bonus. Schwarzer and Squillaci will do fine but the top top guys like Cesc and Henry know whats going on. It is mad to rely on young world-class injury prone players like Van P and Rosicky and Song, and have no cover for them. It is mad not to bring in players who have done well for opposing teams IN YOUR OWN LEAGUE. It is insane to try and keep one of the world’s best young midfielders by not signing anyone of his calibre and instead losing numbers.

Maybe it’s not mad, maybe this is our new financial realism. But right now Arsenal are only open for any business that does not seriously involve winning titles. That said, I wish the manager and the boys all the best this season.

Wenger is a joke and a liar..he has no drive for success. Am beginning to suspect that Titi, Viera and co were saving his ass when they were at he has no plan B…fuck him and all his disciples!

Obviously you guys haven’t supported arsenal long enough and that’s why you talk like that about the best club in the world and the best manager we ever had. If it wasn’t for wenger with his vision and knowledge and scouting network that he built in the transfer market we’d be a bottom half of the table team right now. The best news was that he extended his contract. In Arsene we trust.

ARSENE FUTURE W – This Guy is too futuristic, am afraid he will one time look for his future in the past. Yes, the man tells you how the future is bright and when it nears, he looks for it in the future. Wait after next season if trophy illusion continues and all his so called stars yarn to depart, he then starts to build for thr future again… again ..& .again Oh ghooshiiiii…. FED UP.. but I CANT GET OFF the Gunner. Dont ask me why. This thing………………PASSIOOOOOOOOON!!!!

I gave up on this site months ago, everyday it was same whine, whine, whine. I think the author is stuck and needs to move on.

I wouldn’t bother writing here as there is nothing Arseaction brings to the party, but every day Newsnow displays the written tantrums of this anti fan and that is visible to all and sundry. Now I couldn’t care less if you get off on venting you spleen to your mates about any issue that crosses your mind, but spare a thought that fans from other clubs are probably reading this and laughing into their sleeves at what a bunch of weak kneed twats we must lok like with all this childish petulance.

I’m half inclined to think it is a Spurs fan writing these posts seeing how many Gooners he can turn, as surely someone so consistently critical of Arsenal, by definition, cannot be a supporter.

If anyone is tempted to go along with the authors thinking, have a second thought, is it ever wise to have your tantrums in public? Have some pride.

I have supported Arsenal for 50 years – is that long enough Stephanos ?
I have nothing but admiration for what Wenger has accomplished, not only for Arsenal, but he has changed the attitude of English football from kick & rush to delightful skill. However he and the board have lost the plot.
The move to The Emirates was to enable us to compete with Chelsea, Man Utd etc in the transfer market. Well 60,000 fans filling the stadium every game have done their part but Wenger and the board have double-crossed us on their part of the bargain.
If they really wanted Schwarzer (and we will win nothing without a reliable goalkeeper), to be stalled over £1m is laughable, only it makes me weep. They must have that in the petty cash tin.
As many have said, what does that say regarding the club’s ambition to RVP, Cesc etc. If we have another frustrating season like the last 5, then I think things will really come to an explosive situation.

wondrinfree – What parts of the article were not factual ? Why should the manager and club be immune from criticism if there are glaring faults with the way business is being done ? This is a forum. Forums are designed to be outlets for free expression, both favourable and unfavourable.
It is not being disloyal to the club to point out things that could and should, be done better. An analogy ; If you had a son for example, you would obviously love him very much. But if he goes off the rails, wouldn’t a caring father correct him and pull him back into line ?
This is and should not be, an Arsene tribute site. Objective analysis of the way the club is being managed is healthy, and as fans we should be encouraged to voice our opinions. There will be some who have different views. Be that as it may, but it doesn’t allow people like yourself to censor those who who are more observant and questioning.
So again, I ask : what parts were not factual ?
    “In Arsene we rust.”

So 4m for a 37 yr old GK who has one year left on his contract, wants to join us, has publically stated so, and is not Buffon is the going rate?

You forget that Wenger never talks about transfers. He said last year I think that in his time at the club, he’s brought in maybe 50 players, and failed in bringing maybe 200 (I forgot the numbers, but the ratio is something like that). You can not spend more on every player.

I personally wish that he would he would spend 3m on Schwarzer because we’re desperate for a GK, but more than 6m for a 30 yr old CB is beyond ridiculous. We are not City.

It makes me weep to think how many more titles we would have won if we had spent even half the money our rivals have spent
