Wenger isn’t good enough??? Why on earth would one say such a nasty things. He has being the backbone behind what is happening to us today. He made us a stable club and I think I can say he made us what we call MODERN ARSENAL.. I understand the clamour of some us for trophy but I think patience runs things and not harsh talk AND UNREALISTIC APPROACH!! GO ASK SHEIKH MANSOUR AND THE PRESIDENT OF R.MADRID OF THE LOS GALATOCS ERA, HOW MUCH THEIR MILLION POUNDS SIGNINGS EARN THEM. In my own personal opinion the boys played well today but I need someone to tell SONG to remember he is playing 4 and not 10. He need to start what we know him for, that is cover up his defence and stop opposition attacking flow. Chamakh, should be given enough time to settle in, it is not easy crossing over from France to the rigorous EPL.
For the gunner addicts, keep the faith while the freak gonner-be should get out of our system on here. I REP THE TRUE GUNNER!!!

The club is too well run to end up like Liverpool or Leeds. I don’t see that in our future. Yes we have debt but it is manageable and under control. We live within our means which is good. I repeat, yet again, I don’t advocate running wild on a reckless spending spree.
Buying players doesn’t guarantee us anything – true. BUT constantly not strengthening is guaranteed not to win us anything. It’s the same story every year, we are weak, we play good football but untimely it comes to nothing. And to make matters worse, we let players go and don’t strengthen. (yes we invested in June, but I am not convinced that we got quality, or what we needed).
Had we brought Chamakh in December (or got cover) we may well have won the league. Instead we saved some money to get Chamakh free and didn’t win anything. Wenger wants to do it the hard way. It’s not just fans saying that we need to strengthen, the players say it as well. Even Cesc wants to leave because he wants to win (as did Henry). If rumours are to be believed, Cesc made up his mind to leave last January due to the lack of investment in the team over the winter transfer window.
Money is not the answer WHEN you have team capable of winning, but you need to invest to get that team.
Get off Chamakh case, a striker is only as good as the provider!!! The English,always over rate Wislshere coz his English. Good game all round but we remain a toothless shark!!!

We are not even talking about big investments here. Hleb and Flamini were never replaced, nor were Henry, Toure or Gilberto. So now we are stuck with Denilson, Diaby and Song, not by choice, but because that’s actually the best we have, and saying that makes me sad. Song wouldn’t be a first team regular at any top 5 clubs, Diaby at top 10, and Denilson would struggle to get playing time in premier league. Despite their lack of quality and effort, they still manage tu put in 90+ minuts of football every 3 days. That is beyond me. The only reason those are playing is because there actually are not anyone else at the club. Lansbury is a prospect, but to young, JET is not good enough and Frimpong has joined the rest of the team in the sickbay.

BigL… You say the club is too well run but it is the prudence of running the club the right way that you are basically challenging. Hleb’s transfer fee got us Nasri. We couldn’t replace Flamini directly because Wenger has effectively only had what he raised in transfers to spend and we got no fee for him. And you talk of strengthening but give no figures for how much you imagine that strengthening of the kind that would have made us challengers would actually cost. How much would a player as effective as Flamini was for us have cost… and what would such a player demand in wages? My recollection is that we tried to get Gorkan Inler from Udinese and he wasn’t interested and wanted a get out clause in his contract and we tried for felipe Melo but he wanted to stay in Italy… the rest of players we were chasing were no better or more mature than Denilson or Song!
I’m sorry but people talk as if getting good quality players who are better than what we already have is as easy as picking up a pint of milk from Tesco. Ramirez cost chelsea 18 million and he ain’t all that! Jagelka is supposed to cost 18m, Lescott 22m, milner 25million… even Gyan cost Sunderland 14 million and that’s before you talk about these players wages! And we need players better than all those if we are to challenge… none of those players is significantly better than what we’ve got any way!
I’m sorry but Cesc needs to get his head out of his arse… Wenger took a chance in not signing a mature player when Vieira left and that is the only reason Cesc had the opportunity to play and mature, for him to be asking for signings when he can’t even stay fit enough to do it on the pitch is taking a liberty. The simple fact is that Arsenal cannot afford to sign a bunch of 30m signing plus their wages… and if we can’t do that then we have to stick with wenger’s model and wait for players to mature… it’s that or hand the club over to some Sheikhs or an Oligarch from Russia.
The bottom line for me is that we are not that far off… if we can get someone to sort out this ridiculously persistent and stupid injury crisis that has been running since forever and get our best players on the pitch at same time… then we can see how good we really are and then you can moan with just cause. Right now all I hear is whining after a team that had young JET on the bench went to the home of the champions and played them off the park for loooooong stretches of the match. Losing hurts but losing ones perspective is even worse…
We are really missing a clinical striker in our squad.As much as I hate to admit it we just cannot rely on RVP, he misses too many games and Chamakh is not that type of striker,Chelsea have Drogba, United have Rooney(usually), City have Tevez. For all the possesion we had today I never felt we could score but when Chelsea got the ball they looked like scoring almost every time. In a heartbeat I would trade “wengerball” for chelsea’s direct stlye if it meant we started to win trophies again.

Totally at fault for the first goal , allowed Cole to go past and centre. Commmon fault in his game doesn’t follow his man. Too many people only see players from an attacking perspective , like Arshavin and Denilson he does not track back.

Can we be honest with ourselves? Or are we going to keep burying our heads in the sand and talking about the balance sheet- which only looks a healthy because we dont strengthen the team. This team did not look like getting behind the Chelsea back four- were not strong enough in midfield and never put Chelsea under any real pressure. This Chelsea are a good team but they are not world beaters. Manchester City can beat them but we cant.
This was not a competitive performance- it was not much better than last seasons showing. In truth we are being beaten comfortably. Basically we are stuck- a level below the top sides and not progressing against them. Our record against these top sides is a real problem- we lose every time we play them. Many of the AKB seem to be happy with this mediocrity- I am not. The answer is that we need stronger players in midfield and better forwards than we have. For once we cant blame this defeat on poor defending. If AW is not to blame who is?

I don’t know why people keep ignoring the fact that we have so many players injured, how can you expect a second string team to beat Chelsea when they are in full strength yet to mention at their home ground. Tell me I’m moaning or what, but look at Man U, they are drawing games when they have some key players injured, Liverpool can’t score at Gerard & Torres absent. The only position that we might still need to improve is the goalkeeping situation as we knew the team had been working on it during the summer, sadly nothing happened. Other than that can you tell me that drogba lampard terry is a better player than RVP Cesc Verminator? Everyone is trying to find out why we got injured so frequent than the others, but thats it, and I seriously think that currently our bench is the best amongst. If drogba lampard & terry not around, do you really think they can beat us 2-0 with the way we play that night? End of the day, its only the 7th match & 31 matches upcoming.
Hey now common guys….. we didn’t outplay Chelsea, they just let us play the ball around knowing the usual would happen….i.e. they would more than likely hold use out, and that we would leak goals either from set pieces or counter attacks. Lets not be naive about this…. sure we “could” have scored a couple…. but don’t forget the number of 1v1 ‘s that Chelsea missed which on another day they might well have scored and we “could” have lost but 5!!!
Until everyone involved with Arsenal (including akb’s) look and realise that this side is no better or different than last year or the year before, and that we are already seeing the same end result then nothing will improve!!! I used to love it with our sides up to 2004, who broke fast and passed quickly but effectively …. in fact most of the time it was excting because there were very few passes!! The europlay football is something I find tedious, lets get back to the more positive style of play with a solid backline and lightning fast attack! Possession play does not win you games and trophies….. we have had this proven to us on sooooo many occasions!

during the whole bloody game, i did not see any shots from chamakh…nor is he comfortable holding on onto the ball….
The invicibles are gone, and were never replaced. Lehman was a good GK, and he drove away alughing at Almunia, who now happends to be our main mistake maker, yet start between the sticks game after game. Adams nad Keown were never replaced. Their determination and winning mentalilty were an example for any player. There are noone in the squad mentally that doninating in defence. Ashley Cole, as much hated as he is, is one of the best left backs in the world. Better than Clichy in defence, and there is even no comaparison of them in offence, as Cole is far more superioir than the frenchman. Vieira is replaced by Song. Again, two different worlds when it comes to mentality. Gilberto did that job well, but when he was replaced with an adaquate frenchman, he left. And so did the frenchman (Flamini). In my opinion, Gilberto is better than Flamini, and Flamini is better than Song. So in that sense, we are getring worse and worsen. Kolo Toure was also never replaced. There is noone that strong or quick in defence anymore. Henry was never replaced, and Bergkamp replacement (van Persie) spents all his time chatting up nurses in Arsenal sick bay.
So far, the player stack has been fast regressing in quality. Players like Walcott, Arshavin, Song, Diaby, Denilson, Koscielny, Squillaci, Clichy, Bendtner, Vela just don’t have the winning mentality. They are all in it either for the money or the glory. Non of them are actually in it for the team spirit or just for the good sense of team football. All selfish and lazy, overpaid, overrated and immature
Clichy and Sagna have got to be 2 of the worst attcking full backs ever. they can’t cross, can’t shoot and don’t add any attacking qualities what so ever.
We lacked a killer touch yesturday that was all. with van p, fabrgas and wallcott soon to come back (i hope) we shouldn’t have too many problems putting the ball into the back of the net. but the team has to be stronger and not be pushed around so easily. the centre backs had a look in their eyes like drogba had just raped them. and song needs to decided what kind of player he is. a holding player who just sits infront of the centre backs providing cover, yes. an attcking player who likes to get forward, no.

I was 18 when we won the double in 98. so i experienced supporting arsenal for 13 or 14 years before wenger arrived. The club we have now is barely recognisable to before then and in a good way. We’ve got an unreal stadium, the best training facilities in europe and play beautiful football. Also the club is in a really stable position financially. Before wenger arrived we had 2 championships in 26 seasons. we played the most boring football you can imagine. Even spurs played better football than us. You want to go back to that?
I understand people being frustrated because i feel the exact same way. We’ve got the money and there is no reason why we shouldn’t be able to make the 2-3 signings we need. I get that and i agree but people are going over the top reacting to yesterday.
I was more angry at the result against west brom because there was no effort there. What pisses me off is players is i think have the talent, just not the desire or the determination.

Our players run 10k on average more a week than any other side in the premiership. Our injury record the past couple of seasons should be enough to sack AW – it is unacceptable.

It will be painfull for some on here to read this but for the club to progress and to maintain consistency i.e. the same players playing alongside each other week in week out with the same level of performance you are going to have to replace certain players at Arsenal and for me Arshavin, Diaby, Denilson, Clichy, Sagna and Bendtner are far too inconsistent and Van Persie is far too injury prone to offer anything worthwhile therefore I would, over time look to sell all of these players and invest in players who can offer consistency – thats half the problem with the club and its supporters they put loyalty before the welfare of the club. I ask you would the likes of Chelsea, Barcelona or Real Madrid put up with the performances of Arshavin and Denilson ? or would they allow Van Persie to spend month after month on the treatment table picking up £70k a week ? I think not ! No team wins anything by carrying stragglers…
Like it or not Chelsea are one of the powerhouses of European football. They did the double last year and they’ll be one of the favourites for CL this year.
We didn’t get bashed up. Though it was sadly predictable that they beat us but they’ll beat most teams they encounter this season.
Our time will come again. Real supporters appreciate that. Hysterical ones don’t.
