[Ratings] Arsenel win ugly but pay a heavy price

Arsenal 1-0 Stoke City

(Squillaci 8′) ———————————————

Arsenal beat Stoke to move within one point of Manchester United at the top of the Premier League table.

Sebastien Squillaci headed home after some nice work by Bendtner, but the win was tarnished by concern over captain Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott, who both came off injured.

Arsenal Ratings

Szczesny 8.5 [Didnt put a foot wrong, Made a fantastic save to stop Carew, Clean sheet and gave confidence to the whole team] MAN OF THE MATCH *

Sagna, 7.0 [Defended well, supported walcott well down the right]

Squillaci, 7.5 [Scored the all importance goal and was solid at the back]

Djourou, 7.0[Played well, showed good pace and strength towards the end]

Clichy, 7.0 [ Good game by the flying fullback, keep the dangerous Pennant at bay]

Fabregas, N/A [Started the game very well but came off after only 15mins]

Song, 6.5 [Didnt have a great night, looked slow and gave the ball away a few to many times]

Wilshere, 8.0 [Our best outfield player on the night, didnt lose the ball and at the heart of everything good]

Walcott, 7.0 [Started the game very brightly, hit the post and looked on top form. But his injury looked pretty bad, I fear he may be out for sometime. Gutted because his pace worries Barca and we need that on the counter]

Bendtner, 7.5 [Lead the line very well and again he set up the goal with some fine work]

Nasri, 7.5 [ Played very well in the Cesc role. Took the armband and looked up for it]

Subs:
Denilson, N/A
Arshavin, 7.5 [Played well, Looks to be back to his best]
Chamakh, N/A

Well done the lads, didnt play great tonight but we showed heart for the 3pts. Hopefully injuries aren’t too serious fingers crossed.

Well done to the boys for digging deep and coming away with the all important three points. If we keep this up there might be a few prizes up for grabs come the end of the season! Whatever happens the Gunners are making us proud this season!

    Bloody Whitehead.

  3. KK says:

BBC Live said Fab was a precautionary withdrawal. Theo sprained his ankle badly; out of the Final on Sunday and a doubt for Barca

One superb save apart what did Chesney really have to do? Stoke were still astonishingly time wasting way into stoppage time. The heartbeart of the team tonight was surely Jack Wilshere, he was here there every effing where. We all see games from a different pespective so if Chesney is your MOM I cannot argue. Shit game but 1-0 and three points. I am more than happy with that, Bring on the Brum leg breakers we got issues with them,

Yeah a bit over the top for Woj…he is definitely the man and that was a class save, but there was one time when he was caught out off a delap throw and Huth headed over…i’d give him 7.5 thats a really good score for someone that was a passenger for most of the game…but you are right he bestows so much more confidence in players fans and the like!!
I thought song was good too…he was always back when stoke broke and it was a much improved and fresher looking song than against orient!
