[Ratings] Dear Wenger..Take your “best squad I’ve ever had” & shove it

Arsenal 1-1 Liverpool

Only Arsenal could take the lead in the 98min of added time and still not win the game.

Arsenal played with no heart again Fabregas was lazy and played like he didn’t care.

Its safe to say we have a fight to stay in 2nd place now, we just cant seem to win at game at home anymore?.. No way we are going to win the league, but do you really think they players thought we could?

Were is the mental strength that Wenger keeps talking about?.. The 4-4 draw with Newcastle was bad but this was just a joke. We score a goal late on and then panic, first Clichy then Song fail to clear and then Eboue gifts a pen when all he had to do was allow the ball to run out of play.

You cant make it up at Arsenal anymore.

We cant seen to score from open play, we dont even test the keeper and have shots on target anymore? And then we we look at the manager to change the tactics he brings on a target man and plays him as a winger?… Clueless

And what was Wenger moaning about at the end? It was a stonewall penalty!

I now feel sorry for Eboue as he will now be blamed for our whole season falling apart. We always look for a scapgoat at Arsenal and blame a player. Senderos etc… When will people see that the problem is that our manager cant motivate the players and that this current bunch of players have the mental strength and winning mentality of a stick insect.

Recently we have failed to beat the likes of WBA,Sunderland &  Blackburn and now a Liverpool side with the likes of “flanagan, robinson, kyrgiakos, lucas, spearing, shelvy”  The most average Liverpool team ive seen for 30 years.

We will never win anything under Wenger again. its a sad fact. Stop being in denial if you cant see that the man has lost the plot. “This is the best squad Ive ever had”… Shove it Arsene

Ratings
Szczesny 7.5 [ Didnt put a foot wrong, was good to see the young man back in goal. Went the right way with the pen and was unlucky not to save it] : MOTM
Eboue 4.0 [What can i say about the man?.. He played so well up until giving away the pen. Was pushing forward and looked very dangerous but then he gifts a pen away when he didnt need to do anything. The player was running away from goal so why touch him?..Sorry I love Eboue but he is nothing more then a clown]

Koscielny 7.5 [Played well and was unlucky not to score in the first half with a fine header]

Djourou 6.0 [ Decent game up until the last few moments. Gave away the free kick on the edge of the box that lead to the pen. Seems to panic when the going gets tough]

Clichy 7.0  [Played well, his crossing has improved and is started to look like the world class LB that we all know he is]

Diaby 6.5 [ Did ok, a few powerful runs but nothing of mayor note]

Wilshere 5.5 [ Not his best game. gave the ball away to much and looked weak]

Walcott 5.5 [ Couldnt get pass the 17 year old left back, Had a decent long rang effort in the first half but other then that his final ball was very poor]

Fabregas 5.0 [ Didnt look up for it, walked around as if he didnt give a toss. And this is our captain?. Sums us up]

Nasri 6.5 [Not his best game but still dangeros on the ball]

Van Persie 7.0 [No support AGAIN, scored the pen and then took his shirt off and was booked?... WHY?.. Needs to play in a 4/4/2]

Subs

Nic, N/A [a target man who is great in the air gets asked to play as a winger? Somebody pls tell me why?]

  2. sam says:

bendtner good in the air? yeah right, i can remember him scoring one header, when he ran on and scored straight from a corner, not great for a man of his height!

  3. skins says:

NO MENTAL STRENGHTH. Big problem, they need someone to look up to, no experience, BIG PROBLEM. Arsene Wenger its ok to come 2nd………BIG BIG PROBLEM. How can you play Bentner out wide! Need to sell A LOT of players and replace with power, guts, guile and PACE.

  4. alex says:

I don’t get it. Do Arsenal have 2 of each players? Because one Diaby and Eboue went to the dressing room after the first half was over, and a totally different player who looked exactly like them came out. Eboue had a great first half, worked hard, passig was good and he drew 2 yellow cards for the opponents. But the second half was a disaster. Diaby had a good first half, he actually wored hard in defence and tackled well. In the second he didn’t play one single pass. He just ran with the ball until he lost it countless times. And he stopped working defencivly. Horrible. What did Wenger say to them in the break? To stop playing well? And why didn’t Fabregas get subbed off? He was terrible! His passing was aweful, he was lazy and he didn’t contribute at all, aside from being a victim of being foued for the penalty. And then Wenger takes Wilshere off? The player who worked tha hardest for the team! Insane. Wenger has totally lost it. Wileshere leaves the field when we need him the most, and lazy ass Cesc stays? Diaby subbed at 80′ when he should have been off at 60′. Arshavin should come on earlier. All went wrong for the french “tactician”. The only players that played somewhat well were wilshere. Clichy and the keeper. Central defenders were all over the place panicing and making stuid fouls. Diaby drifted in and out as he liked, cesc never started playing and Eboue sendt his look-a-like out to play the last 45 mins. Ridicolous.

    Cheers mate x

  7. Alex says:

I can’t belive that the arsenals supporter dont stand behind the team when they play at home.. you could allmost hear someone dropping a coin. but where is the plan B?

  8. DonNie says:

Plan B for what? Scoring again after they got the pen? At least provide some genuine and accurate constructive criticism, rather than rehashing the same old lazy bullshit

  9. arsenal says:

why not 442?? even bendtner on we play 451 and play him on the right ? why keep crossing with no target man in the box? we only play pretty football outside the box / in irrelevant part of the pitch is useless

  10. IKD says:

UHHH agree with u on most but that was a clear dive mate much like the dive Babel made against Kolo during the UCL quarter finals 4 yrs ago. yes Eboue did make things look easier but he had his weight on Lucas and tryied to corner him but lucas just fell down blatanly and the referee bought .
I actually felt pity for our Old man coz he was on his knees during Kuyts run in .Cut some slack for him mate .I think whe was very genuine at that point of time and just needs the critic of his back.
All said still dont understand the logic of playing bendther Winger

  11. MrStrange says:

Finally ! Someone with a funny title ! I am sick with morons repeating “We are Gunner fight for it” and similar stuff. But the moron with Theo Van Nasregas takes the prize !
As for the game – we have a reason to complain about a penalty. It wasn’t one.And if it was – it was the softest one this season. But that shouldn’t be awarded against a home team ! In the 104th minute ! I wrote this because there are commentators so dumb that they still keep saying stuff like “In the 93rd minute” ! Yo,imbeciles ! If the first half had 2 added minutes and the second 3 – final minute is not 93rd,it is 95th ! To continue . . . I am glad we didn’t win today.First reason – it would be a huge disgrace for the Premier League if a team like ours is to win it all ! Second – Wenger should go with our club on a 15 year trophy drought and be remembered as a stubborn tight-ass who lost his mind one day and ruined all the great things he’s accomplished during his first 8 years at Arsenal ! And third – for all the brain-washed fans still thinking (even after today) that we can catch up with Utd ! Need to adress them as well – yo,pathetic excuses for human beings – if you can mathematically still win the title – DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL ! ! ! You need a strong team for that ! ! !

  12. Domhuaille MacMathghamhna says:

Praise to the leader and whiner-in-chief of the Gloomers and Doomers brigade and the Wenger out support-less club! Ratings were fairly close BUT blaming Wenger for every ill that has ever surfaced at the Arsenal is pointless, unfair and counter-productive. Supporters stand up and support each other and the team through thick and thin….they’re not fairweather fans who sign hallelujah when we win but shite all over the club when they tie or lose.

  13. JOEL says:

No leadersahip, either on or off the pitch!!!When the team needs someone to steady things down and get everyone out there to concentrate on the important matters at hand-nobody ever seems to step forward. After we scored the penalty the whole side turned into a bunch of “headless chickens”!For Goodness SakeLliverpool didn’t have a single player on the pitch at that stage who should have posed a serious threat to the Arsenal goal-from open play,at least!.But once again Arsenal managed to forget about that particular point and allowed the opposition to create a “threat” out of a “set piece” by giving away a needless free-kick followed swiftly by a needless penalty!.-And BTW Monsieur Wenger it was a “nailed-on” penalty!
Once again Arsenal’s build up play, for the most part, was far too slow predictable and pedestrian.A Liverpool team missing three of it’s regular back four were able to keep Arsenal’s exalted attack at bay for most of the match.Cesc, again, didn’t look particularly interested and both Diaby and Nasri seemed to both operate in “fits and starts”.
Whilst I have no real objection to a continuation of the “Youth Development Experiment”-the time has now come to ditch a number of the existing squad but bring in the likes of Frimpong and Ramsey as well as a couple of proven English Premier League players to generate some steel and proper leadership.I don’t care how much “overpriced” Parker and Cahill would be-they should be brought in!Denilson,Diaby,Eboue and Bentner have now had plenty of opportunities and have been found wanting.Similarly Chamakh Vela Konscielny and Scillacci are not particularly suited to the type of football played in the EPL and should be sold whilst they can still command reasonable fees.Surely,it’s also time to bolster the Coaching Staff with a few Arsenal Legends-I’m sure that any of Winterburn,Keown or Vieira would jump at the chance to sit at Wenger’s side and help mould the right mentalty into the minds of the Squad-You never know, they might, even,be able to get the deluded Manager to take note and develop a broader team strategy-We can all live in hope but at the same time realise that very little,if anything, will change until it is too late!!!

  14. Sarge says:

I no longer believe a word Wenger says. How he can try and exonerate Eboue from a clumsy, clueless and needless foul is beyond me. We lacked confidence in our play all day and the way we panicked after we scored was reminiscent of a Sunday pub side.

The truth is Wenger no longer has the dressing room. They neither fear him or treat him with respect. A bunch of overpaid, under achieving wastrels where some of ‘em can’t believe their luck and others who can’t wait to get away (yes, Fabregas i’m talking about you)

  15. Paul says:

With the late kick off and all the injury time it was tight for my train home but I was not going to leave at 0-0, when we scored I felt even we couldn’t muck it up now, so I started making my way out looking over my shoulder, that was when we had the melay at the edge of the area, I ducked into a spare seat near the exit and watched the free kick and stood there stunned as we contrived to give back the two points we had been gifted. My first thought was anger against Eboue for giving away such a needless penalty, I understood the extra injury time , most of that time was the ref trying to get the wall back. Since then I feel Eboue was hard done by he did not intend to foul him he just ran into the back of the Liverpool player when he slowed down/stopped. In the end we played without passion or imagination, we didn’t really create a clear chance in the whole game, we don’t deserve to win the league and Wenger needs to appreciate this, he needs to agree to make changes or resign.

  16. Am says:

We as fans have to take some blame.

I was sitting there today singing and everyone around me was quite and looking nervous, the fans were dead. By us being so quite and nervous every time there is a stray pass it puts this pressure onto the players.

OUR FANS NEED TO SHOW TRUE SUPPORT, it was a disgrace how we get soo nervous, and oh and ahh every bad pass, which makes the players feel nerves more.

  17. David says:

This is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction. Eboue was pretty poor all game, decent in attack but he cannot defend. Fabregas, although poor by his standards, was okay. He tried delicate one-two’s rather than constantly playing it sideways – at least he was TRYING to get into the box. We do need to shoot more, for sure. But RVP was also poor, unable to hold up the ball. Must have lost it more than 5 times when the ball was played up to him – he needs a 442, you are right, but he was not good today…

Agree with ‘Am’ – I’m sitting in the stands and wonder how every fan can groan in disbelief at the same time. I know it is frustrating when we make mistakes, but fans need to stop having a go and SUPPORT their team.

  18. Mr D says:

that’s because the real passionate fans have been price out of Arsenal, left with a bunch of rich tossers, not all obviously but most1 Go to an away game totally different

  19. Fevzi of Galatya says:

That was one of the most frustrating and angering performances of the season. Quite a few points to make and won’t mix my words:
    * As usual Wenger shows how bad a loser he is
    * WTF do we do at training when it comes to defending? I have said it before that Rice has got to go. The news that he is retiring at the end of the season is most welcome but the damage has been done.
    * I am sick of Arsenal players not showing any pride in wearing our red jersey. Cesc just f*ck off mate. Your miserable outlook has nothing but a negative effect on the rest of the players.
    * Arsene, for god’s sake, if you do remain at the club please ditch the 4-5-1 sh1t formation. Far too many nil nils – far too many inept performances – and I simply am not having it, as you have players earning a sh1t load of money a week for doing something they love and they absolutely take the p1ss out of the fans with their lack lustre performances.
    * Get Bolton’s Cahill in
    * Get shot of all the deadwood [and there is a lot of that!]

My final point is that I was actually glad that Kuyt scored and we didn’t win as those of us who are easily deluded would have still thought we can win the league this year. Stan get your cheque book out!

  20. Gun says:

Eboue was stupid for being clumsy and fooled by lucas!! NO way will the ref thinks otherwise in such a situation. Wenger’s team is not good. He had his best players and yet couldnt break down Liverpool defence DESPITE the injuries Liverpool suffered. Why was bendtner in, was song really effective? He’s short and useless, gave away free kicks needlessly. Wilshere was keeping the midfiled running but was taken off, then everything slowed down. Cesc is not playing as if he really cares, his heart is not with arsenal anymore. The news confirmed it.

  21. Damian says:

Eboue is a shocker what you said he did well in the first half going forward causes the problems nothing came of it but it looked alright but it stifles Walcott ,but it wasn,t dangerous because Liverpool couldn,t get going but when they did him being absent causes the problems he is a full back be fully back and keep us safe priority 1 if you get the odd chance to go forward good but never at the expense of leaving us vulnerable but he can,t get it

  22. craig says:

We need world class strikers. VPersie is allright but he’s no Henry or Rooney. We not even look like getting second anymore.Top four is not good enough every season.

  23. frankie frankie says:

well said about Eboue. Yes he is comical and people have said that is good for the sqaud but if iwant to see clowns i’ll got to the bloody circus. I dont think we could have caught ManU even if we had won but Naive players have cost us the title this year and Wenger keeps defending them. Fabiankski, Aluminia, Squllaci, diaby, clichy, eboue and koscelny have all contributed to some dismal results. And foro every tiume they have a good game they have a bad one. too may mistakes and it has happen every season for the last 6 years. I’m not saying the players before them never made mistakes but this crop of players seem to make a hell of a lot more. Best squad ever my arse. Can’t wait to see what he does when Fabregas sods off to Barca and Nasri turns down a new contract in the summer and is forced to sell for pennies.

  24. Fatgingergooner says:

We lost the title on Carling Cup Final day, not yesterday. N it certainly Isn’t all Eboues fault. He was excellent yday until the foul at the end, it was a definate pen but I think Lucas was very crafty in stopping his run so that Eboue came into the back of him. Anyway, the point is that we could see this coming as soon as we lost to Birmingham, we all knew that we would crash out of the cups and drop off in the league. But it can’t all be down to a lack of quality, afterall, these are the exact same players that we were all praising when we were still in 4 competitions. Confidence plays such a massive part in football, I mean, look at The Liverpool team we played yday, they were dogshit 3 months ago but Kanny has brought in confidence and suddenly they are a decent side again. The loss to Birmingham has derailed our season and unfortunately we are trophyless again.

  25. Gooner4Life says:

It was Alex Song that gave away the freekick near the end not Djourou think you’ve got the rating for Djourou extremely wrong did you not notice how he and Kos handled Andy Carrol in the air he was immense in the Air and for his first time back played well.

  26. crusader says:

Surely this will bury at long last the cult of Eboue that has grown up at the Emirates?
He can’t be blamed for us falling out of the title race (that rot set in at Newcastle), but he is an accident waiting to happen and for all his forays forward which have no end product and his defending leaves much to be desired.
I’ve just read another blog with a lot of fans exempting the cuddly Ivorian from any blame for the penalty. They’re as delsional as Ebemezer Wenger who once again reached new heights
    in bad sportsmanship.

  27. silentstan says:

    @Domhuaille MacMathghamhna
    so no criticism allowed
cant chant at game and then admonish abject failure after
    only blind faith allowed
only acceptance of 2nd/3rd/4th best allowed

    YOU go support someone else

  28. Smudger says:

van Persie is basically averaging a goal a game this season in the 4-5-1/4-3-3 formation, why has he got to play in a 4-4-2? I agree when we were going for it at the end, Bendtner should’ve come on to make it 4-4-2, but the formation has been fine.

Fabregas wasn’t up for it and walked around like he didn’t give a toss? You mean the driving force in our midfield who drove into the box and won the pen in the 98th min? We have 3 players who give a toss – Cesc, van Persie and Vermaelen.

@silentstan No-one has blind faith, no Arsenal fan is happy with our annual collapse. 2nd would’ve been accepted by everyone at the start of the season as everyone slagged off Wenger for not buying a keeper and insisted we would finish 8th. But he’s set the bar higher as the season has gone on, and unfortunately we have fallen at the last.

You don’t turn your back on the team when things are going bad. By all means suggest improvements and solutions, but slating the team and turning your back is not what a proper supporter does. You don’t even have to keep the faith, but you do have to support.

  29. utitiri says:

this article is 100% right. Wenger lost the plot when Mourinho changed the premier league to a more tactical game. The Arsenal squad is just great. Only Man City and maybe Chelsea have got better squads than Arsenals but no matter how good a team can be, without motivation and tactical awareness the team can not win anything. How can we let Liverpool penetrate our half with only less than a minute left?. Just to remind you, these are some important games Wenger failed to win., Uefa cup final vs Galatasary, Carling cup final vs Birmingham, that Champions league vs liverpool when Adebayor just scored., the list is endless.. Managing is like relay race Wenger has done his part thanks to him, someone has to continue the good work he has done. Just like what Gurdiola did to Barca after Rijkaard. Thank u

  30. utitiri says:

oh. I FORGOT A LOT OF PREMIER LEAGUE TITLES WE HAVE GIVEN TO MAN U WHEN IN THE DRIVING SEAT. and somebody pliz tell Wenger and the players not to talk about bouncing back and having the mentality. We know they have the mental strength they should just let there work on the pitch do the talking.

  31. B52 Barclays Banker says:

    WENGER OUT!

  32. Ad says:

Clichy? A World class Left back?! Ha Ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Man that is amusing.
He refuses to play at left back, whether he be stood ignoring the wingers getting in, around and behind him at left back. Marauding pointlessly up the pitch, playing as a 3rd centre back and getting in the other 2′s way he is shockingly bad at what he does. Our worst player and not just bad but a liability. Causing problems that shouldn’t be.
Like Eboue in the last game he is detrimental. But unlike Eboue he doesn’t have good games and poor games, he’s just very bad all the time. And unlike Eboue he can’t defend, and unlike Eboue, he can’t cross. And unlike Eboue he doesn’t give a shit.

Get Felipe from Athletic quickly. Did you see his goal last week. Clichy will never do anything half as good as that and Felipe does it week in, week out!

  33. frankie frankie says:

Eboue cost us the game but Wenger cost us the league. Yes it was a pen. anyone who says it wasn’t is as blind as wenger. If it was the other way around we would be sreaming at the ref to give it so i dont know why it would be any different. There was no need to touch him at all.

Wenger has built a team devoid of heart and has tainted it with dickheads like eboue, koscleny, squillaci, fabiasnki, aluminia, vela, bendtner, …..for every good thing that fabregas, nasri and others do there is one of those dickheads to mess things up. How many points have they cost us this seaqson and over the years. I really thought Eboue had turn his game around but yesturday he popped up to show why people just think he is the funny man at the club. I will support the club til the day i die and some of you may wish that day be today or wish i sod off and support chelsea or spurs but stuff you if you think that. I’ve been a gooner for 21 years and nothing will change that but i have changed my support of Wenger. Wenger is not Arsenal. Some fans need to realise that.

I appreciate fully every thing he has done over the years for us but does that constitute a blank page for him to draw what ever he wants? Are we just meant o look at the finished article season after season and just say well done with no critism?

The title race is still there to be won but we seem more likely to finish 3rd rather than 1st.

  34. jim hamilton says:

some of the bargain buys aw has bought have been great , i do enjoy watching the GOOD kids come good , maybe he should become chief scout and let someone else manage , the way he wrings his hands is shocking how can he be giving anyone confidence . Stan the man will love him for competing with west brom and fulham for players ,but they all need to realise kids as fans latch on to winners our fan base as got to diminish . i love the man to bits and i hate to say it but his time is up. we need to pip chelsea for pep

  35. Yiddo says:

brilliant. in arsene you rust. 4 more years plese

  36. Spectrum says:

B52 Barclay’s banker – Er, careful. Saying things like “Wenger Out” can be considered “offensive” by some “delicate flowers” on a certain blogsite. I’d better not say which one, in case they get “offended” and sue me.Gulp !
    “In Arsene we rust.”

  37. stuart says:

Passion, desire and leadership. That is what Arsenal used to be about. Now its none of these its I’m on a good wage and it does not matter if we win or lose. The players out there were all terrible, apart from the keeper. He was the only one showing Passion and desire and leadership. I’m not blaming Eboue, I’m blaming wenger. This football we play will not win anything in the premier league. Wenger was brilliant up until 2005, now he has lost the plot. I have had enough of his reasoning that its never the players fault but always someone else’s fault, the ref, the pitch, the international break. It’s time he faced facts that the experiment has failed in the type if player we have and the type of football we play. It’s time for a change at Arsenal and we to make our voices heard.

  38. marko says:

This can all be sorted out with one free transfer last season we should of gone all out for ballack this season its van bommel both players can cover loads of roles in midfield and could easly become arsenals next captin

  39. David says:

The whistle should have been blown and Eboue did an Eboue. Sunderland the whistle should have blown and didn’t. Newcastle was straight fiction by Dowd. The refs have cost us 6 points this year…FACT! IF we had those 6 points none of you would be saying sh*t.

We are naive though (but the boys will learn…with a small injection of talent)

  40. Tommi Gooner says:

David @6.59pm – are you really Wenger in disguise? The refs costs us points?! Really – players not concentrating until the ref blows the final whistle has cost us.

Not sure what Clichy you have been watching for the last 2 seasons but he’s been sh*t! Considering he’s a French international he’s been shocking. Against Sunderland he panicked which allowed them to score.

Eboué should just f*ck right off – I don’t give a rocks he’s ‘The team joker’ – he’s not fit to wear the shirt – we need defenders who defend – give me a Dixon, Winterburn, Keown, Adams and a Bould over these f*ckwits any day of the week.

  41. Chris says:

Come on chaps, support your/our team!!! Yes, some players have F*** things up royally, but lets at least show support for our club. A few level headed mature players will change everything. The ref’s have cost us points as well this season. Lastly, looking at all the teams below us and the money they have spent and how well they are doing, it is clear to see how well we have done and that it is not as gloomy as some make it out to be.

  42. neamman says:

The good points for the season.
    Defense:
We have found a good goalie, with Vermaelan back I am happy with him, Djourou, Koz and Squilli as CDs, assuming they stay fit. Defence is good but we need a Keown to come in and drill them for set pieces.
Midfield: We need a strong DM, I like Song but not sure he is the one. Apart from that some tinkering.. drop Denilson, Diaby.. bring up Frimpong and buy a DM for when Song is injured or suspended.
    Attack:
Play Nic up front and bring in JET. Buy a proven 20 goal player.

So in short, assuming no injuries, I feel we only need to buy one strong DM and a goalscorer and we are there. Plus bring in a good defensive coach.

  43. yash says:

i really think wenger got it wrong..i would rather have chamakh who played well in the first part of the season..tbh, he would have provide the extra touch that we needed…playing bendtner on the right seems so plain fucking wrong…sometimes you wonder whether wenger cannot see things or ddoes not want to see things…

  44. Paul N says:

Only if Arsenal fans would cheer the team on as much as they talk crap.

I wish most of these Arsenal fans and blogs such as this one would shove it.

Thank you Arsene for remaining faithful inspite of many ungrateful these socalled Arsenal supporters.

    Blow wow Joker!
