[Ratings] “spend some f##king money”

Fulham 2-2 Arsenal

Sidwell (25mins) Zamora (56mins) – Van Persie (28mins) Walcott (89mins)

Credit the gooners at Craven Cottage today, berating Wenger for not signing players and telling him to “spend some f#’king money”

A fitting end to a poor end to the season. Since beating Leyton Orient (March 2) our results have been.

2 wins in 13 games

From 2nd place in a 2 horse race Arsenal finish the season in 4th place. Is 4th like a trophy? Has the Lord Wenger confirmed this yet?

I really hope that Wenger clears out the deadwood at Arsenal this summer and spends the money.
I dream of the signings of Hazard and Benzema, But I know its going to be the likes of Moussa Sow, Bruno Ecuele Mang, Morgan Amalfitano.

Massive summer ahead of us. Lets hope Wenger doesn’t let us down… AGAIN

Arsenal Ratings
Szczesny 6.5 ( Pretty poor game. Needs to start keeping some clean sheets, But when you have defenders like Johan its not easy. Didnt have much chance with both goals but overal not at his best)

Sagna 6.5 (Same old story, Couldnt cross a ball to save his life)

Djourou 4.5 (Just like the Bolton and Stoke games his poor defensive play cost us goals. Very poor yet again, I hope Wenger signs a proven CB this summer)

Vermaelen 7.5 (Was great to see him back, Cleared off the line to save us and was good on the ball. Lucky not to suffer serisos injury from Gera rash tackle)

Gibbs 4.5 (Was all over the place, Vasnished for the first goal and most of the Fulham attacks came from his side)

Ramsey 5.5 (Asked to play wide right and was not in the game at all)

Diaby 7.0 (Nice set up for the RVP goal. But differed in and out the game)

Wilshere 6.5 (Passed the ball well and got stuck in. Please Jack grow some balls and start shooting from outside the box)

Nasri 6.5 (Started the game well, poor header which he should of scored from and faded towards the end)

Chamakh 5.0 (Missed a sitter and was poor. Not a goal scorer and I would cash in on him this summer)

van Persie 7.5 (Where would we have finished this season without him. Scored a great goal..AGAIN)

Eboue 6.5 (Decent runs down the left)
Arshavin 6.0 (Missed a decent chance late on)
Walcott 7.5 (Scored a fine goal, took it all on his own and finished well)

Moorgan Arnalfidano is a great player and would definately strengthen our defence, and help us wobble to 6th next year

Some of your ratings just doesn’t add up. Szcz 6.5? He was piss poor, should’ve dealt with the 2nd goal, and not convincing for the first either. Vermaelen was not a 7.5, more like 6. He’s a part of the defense which didn’t work out at all you know. Chamakh had a decent game, better than Nasri and Wilshere.

I’m pretty sure Wenger will not spend any money this summer and to be honest nothing we say or do will achive anything. Do you really think anything Arsenal fans say will be heard by the comfortable surrounding of the board? The manager doesn’t spend any money but is in the Champions League and competeing every year. We don’t have to win anything for them to be happy. And Wenger is happy destroying this club until his contract expires and he retires. Thats the truth he will retire in three years with this useless squad and a board that won’t want to spend cause Aresne didn’t. Then next manager of Aresnal is forever doomed. Please Post this it needs to get out.

However I don’t want Wenger out i want a new backroom staff, medical team and Stan the man! He is a sports bussiness man and if anyone watchs the NBA you will see what kind of deals he has made. He traded a good Small forward for about 5 players from another team. Worth it or not? His team had the best record in the league after the trade. Google it.

Need a stiker, a center back and a defensive mdifilder but we will get a goal keeper aged 13, a creative mdifilder aged 5 and a bench boy for denislon aged fetus. And to all the fans that say in aresne we trust. Your the reason this club will never go forward. Because the only fans the board listen to are you. We are in our 10’s of thousands while there is only a cuple of thousands of you and they listen to you because that is what they want to hear? We don’t want to sign a player for 60 million we just want some good middle aged players man. And don’t say go support cheski and man cityski or whatever you little durty fucking cunts!!!!!! I love this club and it kills me to see them like this!!!! this is why i want a chnage!! I don’t want this club to be laughed at by everyone!!! Every team takes pity on us! We were the invicibles! WTF!!!!! If any of you fucking call anyone one of us a plastic fan i swear to GOD i will murder all of you. I will find out your domain name, thorugh that finding your adress and sla\ughter you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    have a good summer =]

(anything i say on this form should not be taken literally it is just a firuge of speech no harm is meant =D)

Another shocking performance to go with the others in our collapse at the end of the season.2 wins out of 13 is an absolute disgrace and any other manger with a shred of decency would resign. How fucking bad is our defence.Unless we buy at least 6 quality players we will finish outside the top 4 next season

    Calm down Mabs!!

Like you i am a frustrated gooner, but i am not going to bore you about having to live in enfield during the early eighties and having to listen to the spuds go on about uefa cups, glamourous football and how many FA cups they have won, the point is, the key word was patience and between george graham, Arsene wenger (and Rioch… Bergkamp) i was able to see Five championships, Five FA cups, Two league cups and a cup winners cup, not forgetting the countless disappointments of cup final losses (FA Cup, League cups, Uefa cups, Cup winners cup, Champions league!!!) so lets face it, no one gives us a god given right to win anything, but at least we have had one hell of a ride!!
Now the season is over, its in the past…Mr Wenger prove us wrong!!!!!!

I don’t want to come fourth. I don’t want to lose leads. I don’t want to conceed early goals. I don’t want to be shit a set pieces. I do want to spend money on people that will enhance our squad. I take issue with every man and his dog quoting whatever player’s name is currently being linked with Arsenal. Eden Hazzard is the type of young player – from the Ligue 1- with potential that Wenger is criticized for buying. Karim Benzema has done well in the La Liga and so will not come to Arsenal unless they offer silly money. Arsenal – not only while Wenger has been the manager -have never been a big spending club. People are looking to Scott Parker!! An injury prone midfielder and captain of a team that has just been relegated and done nothing at his previous clubs apart from warm the treatment table – hardly the winning mentality and robust player we need. Spend some money? Yes, but realise that you are supporting Arsenal who rarely spend lots of money in total or on one player. Even if we sack Wenger the liklihood is that it will be someone that will have to live with the constraints of the club. Yes, Wenger may share those principles but the next person will have to even if they don’t want to. David Dein. He sold Arsenal up the river as quick as you like for the money. He was around when we were shit in the early 80s and the only thing he did was to bring in Wenger. There is no one answer to our problems. Spending money is one part. Getting a defensive coach is another part. Finding that winning mentality, however that is done, is another part. List all of the others and i’ll probably agree. Remeber that none of them guarentee success. None of them protect us from bad refereeing decisions.

Hazard, Benzema, Parker & definately a centre back,, that’s where we should put our money on- Ricardo Alvarez has some good technique,, a powerful shot and play both wingz,, use both feet!!
I believe Koscielny would and will be a great compliment 2 varmalen, Djorou is still too young,, needs some confidence build up & alil experience!!

If there’s money to spend, any wonder why wenger kept refusing to buy british players?

  11. Robbie Morse

    May 22, 2011 at 6:48 pm

Very disappointed by the failure to use players such as Lansbury and JET, clearly good enough and you feel that it is too late now as the club have to spend and they may not get their chance. Very disappointed that Wenger has kept faith in players that are clearly not good enough.

If Wenger doesn’t bring in a commanding centre half to partner Vermaelen then he will not be there in 12 months time, Gary Cahill is the only answer to me, we can build him in to our team and the long term plan isn’t affected, Alex Song is a fan favourite but he looks tiny in midfield and a Patrick Vieira style player must be found, unfortunately there are not many around and signing one may hinder the development of Ramsey, Wilshere and Lansbury. Scott Parker would not play enough games to fulfill his transfer fee.

A much better Left Back is needed, Gael Clichy is turning in to a calamity… Leighton Baines I am a huge fan of but at 5’7 he would not deal with the big diagonals that we suffer from.

I would also hope that Miyaichi is granted a special talent visa, we could use his creativity from the bench. Gibbs and Vela need season long loans to Bolton-esque clubs and there is a lot of deadwood that needs clearing out; Rosicky, Squillaci, Denilson, Almunia, Lehmann, Traore, Chamakh, Bendtner and Arshavin would not be missed… The tenacity of players such as Chung-Yong Lee and Stuart Holden would be very much welcomed in the 4-3-3 formation, however unrealistic it would be to sign those exact players.

@Gooner4life yeah i know what you mean mate… I’ve been supporting us since i was 4 and im 18 now so i dont have the colorful history like yourself but i did see good and bad times and i stuck with arsenal no matter what and still will. What i hate is when fans say i’m plastic or i should support someone else because i tell the truth about this team. It makes me mad!! Really mad! We need to spend atleast 40 million this summer but i’m sure we won’t spend 6 million and thats the truth to all you REAL arsenal fans Like me and you.

Enough is enough we need to go route one and get samba, jones, enrique or baines, azpilcuetta,m’villa, hazard, and benzema. Sell the crap ie almunia sagna clichy squillacci djourou song denilson diaby rosicky chamak and bendtner and bring in the cash to help rebuild. Thats alot of dead wood and it reflects in our performances.Wenger and the board have drained us with their constant spin. They have respected their pockets but not the fans. We have had to watch some of the most unarsenal like performances played by some players they have try to brainwash us into thinking are actually good enough. The fact is none of the above are. Mr Wenger needs to put The Arsenal back into Arsenal if he wants to regain our respect because frankly his recent work has been poor at best and his excuses pathetic.

Its nonsense to argue that JET and Lansbury are clearly good enough. Far too many gooners are starry eyed about our young players. They should be in the squad and be given some chances as back up players. Its dominant players we need-at the back-and a driving box to box player and we dont possess one. Its these players who will give players like Nasri and Fabregas some time to operate in.
In reality our squad is massively unbalanced. Vermaelen, Squillacci, Koscielny, Djourou are essentially the same type of defender-none of them is particularly strong in attacking the ball. Neither Gibbs or Clichy can defend in the box, or are strong at turning and tackling-a left backs core business. Up front we lack penetration because we are short of a driving midfielder ever since Flamini moved on. This will shock many but I would bring Hleb back-just dont play him as a second striker! He is hard working, clever and would cost little. To me he offers us 10 times what Denilson does

I like Cahill too but I think Sakho or Samba would do what we need-and it will not be cheap. We have seen Cahill defend as poorly as our own defenders in recent weeks. After a centre back, its a striker we need. We had enough chances to win this game. Yet we end up nearly losing because we cannot defend against a big, mobile centre forward.

  22. MistaKen

    May 22, 2011 at 8:56 pm

Cahill, Samba and Hengerland please. Concede half as much as this season and win all games were we go ahead. Even if we don’t but anyone else we will be a much better team than any time in the last 6 years.

  23. Goona

    May 22, 2011 at 9:40 pm

Quite honestly even though we’ll be seeded at the rate we’re going I don’t think we’ll qualify for next seasons champions league as I like many other Gooners have lost confidence in the team and the manager who has become a serial loser of vital points in the past few years.

  24. James Smith

The longer Wenger stays and takes no action to seriously shore up the team, the gunners are on a downward slippery spiral. By that I means he gets unknowns .We know what happened when he got the two French defenders. He has to be serious to get the quality, experienced players.
If doesn’t do that and the gunners shoot themselevs in the heart/foot every spring, rest assured the gunners will be like another Liverpool. Then it will take another two or three years at a minimum for the gunners to be competitive again.
This is the stark scenario and btw the red faced cunt and MC could have won titles and FA cups when the gunners were in the wilderness.

  25. Raeman212

    May 23, 2011 at 6:16 am

We were SO close this season. It seems like there is a running gag in the premiership about Arsenal not winning a trophy. Wenger has to flip the joke on them on the coming season.

The physio’s and coaches have to be replaced with better quality ones, perhaps some of old players ?

The formation at the club doesn’t need to be changed, their just needs to be a “Plan B”, which I believe could be the legendary formation used with the invincibles, the 4-4-2/4-4-1-1. Since we are becoming to predictable it would be smart to mix up the formation we start with during the season, it would also utilise strikers such as Bendtner, Chamakh and maybe Robin van Persie. Although, if there was to be a change to the 4-3-3, I would say it would be to make Song actually stay back and defend, if he wants to have input, get him to practise “Pirlo-esque” passes from deep this summer as well as beefing him up a little bit and improve his speed/acceleration.

In terms of the squad itself, I would love to be able to look on Arsenal.com when I click first team players to see this:

Goalkeepers: Szczesny, Fabianski, Lehmann (I say stick with the two Pole’s as they are young and are improving especially under the tutelage of Lehmann)

Defenders: Sagna, Clichy, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Djourou, Chiellini, Bartley, Gibbs (Botelho/Traore), Coleman

Midfielders: Frimpong, Song, M’Vila, Ramsey, Wilshere, Lansbury, Nasri, Hazard, Gervinho, Miyachi, Arshavin (sort him out mentally and we have instant match winner)

Forwards: van Persie, Walcott, Vela, Bendtner (or Chamakh), Benzema,

  26. Gordon

    May 23, 2011 at 6:49 am

How on earth is Arshavin worth a 6.0?? No shots on target plus the worst passing I witnessed in an Arsenal player since Diawara. In one instance, after collecting the ball in the opposition half on the left side with absolutely no pressure within 4-5 meters radius, what did he do? Passed it sideways to the Fulham’s midifled of course!

He’s worth a 0.5 for trying to shoot. 0.25 per shot he took.

How he had withered this season is amazing. Wenger seems to attract the weakest-minded players with fat paychecks and nothing to show up for.

I cant blive for six years a club like arsenal have not won a single trophy which is heart aching to the fans. The board of directors are not eager to win trophies but to make more money. How will success come without not spending money on good players? For this loss of credibility, the coach, the board and the players are to be blamed for such miserable result.

Listen. we’re screwed. This team is seriously flawed (tactically, physically, mentally, defensively). I’d be surprised if Wenger can turn around the team’s flaws before the start of the next season (7-8 weeks away). We’ve had all season to sort i out…didn’t happen. Buying new players won’t help much either. Wenger has infected the whole club. He needs to take a good hard look at himself and figure out whats wrong with him.We do have the basis of a good team, but Wenger is failing to get the most out of them. There is something seriously wrong with Wenger which has affected the team.

It is the same old story. Wenger is a disgrace. If I were him I should resign immediately. How can a manager who won 2 out of 13 league games can stay? The arsenal boards are also blind and they are not echoing the same voice as the fans and other genuine persons thought. What a shame!!! I donot want to talk more. It is time for a big clear-out!!! lol! boy oh boy i couldnt wait for this to happen, finally a blog with no AKB brigade. good stuff. Fellas i dont have much time i only want to drop the most ideal coach to take over wenger the one and only forgotten GUUS HIDDINK! pure tactician, sober and the man as van persie said, has the midas touch. he is old enough and has plenty experience.look at where he got chelsea, almost knocked barca out if not for the dodgy refreeeing. and about spending this summer it would only be realistic for him to finally consider the english market cause he wont have time to import unproven talent. if he decides to import then he defintely needs to bring in proven talent especially upfront and at the back like ibramovich, snjider, etc. by the way why is this man so stubborn and proud such that chances to sign players like blackpool capt. Charlie Adam go begging? ive never never understood this.cause i know he is soon going to be on Man U and esp Liverpools shopping list.for once Wenger humble yourself and show us you value the fans and not trying to prove us wrong with some french import experiment.
He needs to get rid of pat rice and that type asap! Even if he does sign the right players I believe the biggest change that is needed is the Manager’s approach to the game. He needs to stop being stubborn and sticking to his guns when its clearly obvious when his tactics are not working. he needs to shake things up from the touchline and at halftime but the man is too damn proud to let himself do that cos only inexperience managers do that…..herein lies my biggest concern, not the team but the managers approach to things.Jack wilshere never shoots cos he is obviously under instruction to pass. So i believe we need a change of players, coaching staff and most importantly wengers need to approach games with COMMON SENSE

  32. JJ

    May 23, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Lets face it……. Wenger has done nothing to improve this side in 5 years, all we have done is hang on in the top 4 – just!

More words of inane platitudes and excuses will follow as usual and also the usual plea that we simply don’t have the money to buy or compete with the big money clubs.

The only way things will improve or change is if we get a fresh face in to manage the team and put some guts and pride back, Wengers side has no bottle and no pride in playing in the famous shirts that our club deserves and should demand. We are forgetting what the club has always stood for, that his club is for the the fans and that no player, manager, director is more important than the club. Our club used to be always one of the clubs that other teams were afraid of because when they faced the 11 men in red & white they new that they would not just lie down and accept a result if the score was going against them, we now are a club where even the lowest of sides believe that they can get a result against us by playing hard and waiting for us to implode (Birmingham being the most obviously example this season – beating us in the CCFinal then being relegated!).

Wenger with his group of yes men that he has surrounded himself with (ala Pat Rice) will not change this, only a new man with b*lls can do this.

    Our young players are shit.

JET can’t get a game for Cardiff, Lansbury couldn’t get a start for Norwich, Eastmond can’t even get in the squad at Milwall.

The only youngster/reserve with any ability to make even a minor impact is Coquelin.
