Wenger irks fan with latest interview

Arsenal fans are used to the infamous quotes that Wenger gives every year in interviews and often we find them amusing, we especially like the way he can wind up other people with the things he says but when it is the fans on the receiving end of another one of his delusional speeches you have consider whether he has lost all consideration for the people that support the team?

Gooners are used to frustrating summers, we’ve spent the last 4 watching our best talent being sold from under our feet and replaced with players of a diminished ability in comparison but this summer was meant to be different. The last few months of the season were full of bragging by Wenger and Gazidis of the funds we had to spend and there was insistence that there would be additions to the team, so why are we sitting here approaching August with a few young ones banked in the future player fund, no new first team players and Wenger gave the same interview yesterday, you know-the one he gives every year saying that he is ‘no closer to signing anyone’ and ’the team can compete for the title with or without new signings’.

We have been linked to many players throughout the summer and there have been so many signings and medicals that I’m sure Diaby has made great friends with Higuain and Jovetic during the summer whilst also renewing his friendship with Cesc. but the pursuit of Suarez is the strangest attempt I have ever seen from Wenger mainly because of his lack of man management skills, if he can’t handle the likes of Song, Arsharvin and Bendnter who are angels in comparison how does he ever expect to coach the player with the worst behaviour in the Premiership.

Bad behaviour aside Suarez is a great player and in terms of talent he is better than anything we have, there is no denying that but he is a huge risk and I just don’t see Liverpool selling to us when they know that could make all the difference to where both teams will finish in the Premiership next year. Suarez has indicated that he despises the English press and wants to move away from England altogether and all these factors point to him either staying at Anfield or going Real Madrid and I think Wenger knows this and used this situation to his advantage and attempted to appease some fans by making a bid that they won’t follow through.

Wenger is currently standing in a sweetshop full of the best quality sweets to buy and his theory is to go for the penny sweets and save the rest of the money for the piggy bank at home! I think there are many fans who are growing tired of his nonsense excuses and justification all the time. How can we believe this man when all he does is insist a team who scraped 4th last season will finish above all of those teams around us who are strengthening every week. He is either an extreme optimist bordering on delusion or he is desperately trying to not to expose himself as the tactically inept and weak manager he has become, either way his shortcomings will be laid bare for us all to see this season should we sign no-one.

I know Wenger’s fans will still describe him as the greatest manager in the world but that is simply not true. I can agree what he achieved at Arsenal a few years back was amazing but I’m starting to think that was the team and the people he had behind him because if he was the greatest manager in the world he’d be able to coach ANY team to victory and he has failed to do that.

We are 20 days away from starting the new Premiership season and 36 days away from the end of the transfer window and I foresee another year where we will have to fight another season out. I honestly can’t see Wenger keeping his job much longer without new squad members, I for one will be taking an ‘I’ll spend when you do stance if this happens’.

Thank you as always for reading and feel free to comment!

I think Arsene will start buying 10 players if we get trashed 8-2 by Man City. The problem is, the players he’ll buy are all useless.

another potential replacement for arsene wenger…

how on earth the arsenal board can miss you….such a perceptive analysis of arsenal club…

present yourself to AB & i am sure you will replace the incompetent AW…and start winning the EPL, CL, FA Cup, etc next season….we still have 20 days to rescue arsenal with your brilliance

A call to arms to all arsenal fans…DONT RENEW YOUR SEASON TICKETS…
Boycott the emirates cup and let the board know how we feel about this current management. If we dont give them their oxygen(money) then those bastards in the board and the myopic manager that we have will have no choice but to act. This club has been made into a cashcow for the muppet head stan.
The fans have to boycott and take the affairs of this club into our own hands before the season starts else, AW will again sing the same tune till the next window…

Like many fans I was a huge admirer of Wenger but I have just about had it now. He is so predictable it is almost laughable these days. As for Kroenke and Gazidis? Total rubbish at whatever it is they are trying to achieve. Seriously. It aint working. If Wenger meanders through this transfer window citing excellent performances by kids against SE Asian pub teams and doesn’t strengthen with some quality players then I think he will be gone very soon. And he will deserve it.

Arsene is taking the piss. I don’t slag the guy (he has been a hero), nor the nearly, always tomorrow performance of the team.

However if he thinks that those that have stuck by him will tolerate what has gone before…..we may, we will, we won’t buy – then he is delusional.

We need to spend and even the players make that clear. I am now worried that all the detractors are right – his ego and his crazily economical spending plans are becoming a problem.

I am not going to wait another year. If he doesn’t deliver I am a ‘wenger out’ supporter…for the first time ever!!!

This is it Arsene. City have a new mngr, utd and Chelsea too. Spuds have spent and Liverpool want to recover past success. You fuck it up this time and I am sorry to say…they were right, you should have been kicked into touch 2/3 seasons ago.

Just do not know what to say any more if we do not buy a single quality player then we are no more a top team just a content top 4 team at best, I am not looking forward to the coming season now So disappointed thinking very seriously about scrapping my season ticket for next year all £1900 pounds worth if I thought we was not going to buy any one I would not of renewed it for the 15th time running, I have always stood by my team and Arsene but this coming season I am not sure I can endure the crap all over again.

I find it difficult to understand how a manager who has failed for 8 seasons in a row is still in his job. I bet if Rodgers, at Liverpool, has not won anything after 3 years he will be shown the door with the fans handing him his coat

Year in year out, Wenger has molded a team that plays exciting attacking football with flair and panache. Even with a woeful defense at times, remember Andre Santos, they compete with the best in the world and on any given day beat them. Have they won any trophies in the end? Not recently, but that is not the be all. We love Arsenal cause they play the game the way we want to see it played, win or lose. And that is largely down to one man, Arsene Wenger!

At first I was worried at Wenger’s utterance. We have a threadbare squad. A couple of injuries and game set and match to the Spuds. Then I realised Wenger is a genius. CHAMAKH!!! He has Only seemed useless. It’s been an act. As soon as we get an injury to Giroud our secret weapon will be uncovered. Then if Chamakh gets injured. BENDTNER. It all falls into place now. Wenger saves us £70, 000, 000. He only then takes a rise of £3, 000, 000 a year to earn £10, 000, 000 a year, and saves us a billion quid. CHAMAKH and BENTNER are actually top, top world class players. We were all wrong in thinking they were crap because we are not football managers and we don’t understand. Wenger you are a genius.

I couldn’t agree more with your opinion. I share the same and what is more troubling is the level of Wenger’s delusional sophistication these days.
The way he has always been carrying on in recent years regarding transfers has been nothing short of baseless optimism, because a group of players that just managed to get 4th last term should not be put forward to compete to win the title without adding super quality players. And for an intelectual person to say what he has said,is not only dissappointing but make mockery of his own intelligence – that is just being frank.
To me,Wenger and the Board of AFC are not willing to spend, what they are doing is to play with fans emotion by pretending to want to spend, thus giving false hope.
Otherwise, why have we not buy a defensive mildfielder,a centrehalf,a goalkeeper and a dominant rightback that the team really need to be able to compete, and of course a super striker?
We’ve been here many times before. The story is always familiar. “We want to buy,but there is no quality in the market”. It is sad that the Board of AFC in collaboration with the coach have masterminded this kind of gimmick to make AFC an “also-ran” team which top quality players are even sceptical of joining now.But then they are happy as long as the bank balances are swelling.
    May God help us.

Reporter, I am really with you on this one. It’s the same pathetic story uttered by Wenger. I have been calling for Wenger to go the last three years now. If arsenal doesn’t get two or three players this sea, I hate to say it but I will be pledging my allegiance to Man City, since there is ambition by them to get involve in the development of soccer in New York

I agree with all what you are saying, I would of replaced Wenger 2 years ago, but I don’t own Arsenal. He is doing the boards work, already they are about to offer him a new contract, for them he is doing a good job, for us supporters, sadly not. He’s here to stay. Heaven help us.

I find it slightly strange that alisher usmanov has not come out publicly to discredit the board for not buying class, this is making me think maybe for once arsenal are really trying to go for it, otherwise he would be the first moan. But us a fan my heart says wenger is the same old stingy little c*nt who gives nothing back to his supporters but frustration I’d rather of had highbury and a winning team then a bigger stadium with no silverware to go with it.

    July 27, 2013 at 4:12 pm

So AW is now sayin can we win the title without new signings…LOL we knew this all along that there was going to be no new experienced additions to the squad sell players but wont BUY players he want them for as little as possible, doesnt work that way if you want to win silverware, think we need a new board and defo a new manager hes had his time long ago no trophies in 8yrs if he was at chelsea he wouldnt of lasted 1-2 seasons.Hes a joke thats why i stop going to games even players are looking new signings coz they want trophies etc need to spen to compete with the big boys

  25. The One

    July 27, 2013 at 4:14 pm

How can a ****al coach rely on Chamberlain, Walcott, Gnabry, Akpom, Sanogo etc to win a trophy for a club? Am so pissed and i want Wenger to be sacked now. Every season its its the same. Enough is enough.

  26. Phil Poole

    July 27, 2013 at 4:20 pm

We have become a complete laughing stock. What other club would allow their manager to go 8 years without a trophy, sell their best player to a direct competitor and constantly come out with the same garbage every year about how we don’t need to invest in better players, when every season we stagnate. It beggars belief that the board want to extend Wengers contract, before he’s even won anything or invested in new players. I just can’t bear the thought of listening to the Bullshit that Wenger will spout in the coming seasons. We are all being treated like complete mugs season after season. Still what do the board and Wenger care, as long as they can continue driving around in their Bentleys and living the champagne life!

o my gooners do nt take my word too literal. I was only saying that in d case of a very remote possibility of me nt buying anymore player other than sanogo. Check my summer transfer records of d past years you wil see dat i hv always signed more than one player. I wil try all i cld 2 sign more quality player. But let me remind u dat signing player who are fan’s wish do nt always garantee d big trophies.

Saying other teams are ‘ Strenthening every week ‘ is absolutely untrue, most of the other teams are still waiting for the big deals to come through, other than Man City who get to spend the bored oil sheiks money, its a lot easier when the money you are spending is someone elses!

Last year we signed Poldi, Giroud and Cazorla – who was named transfer signing of the season in the whole prem, despite him not being a ‘big name’. So its ok to give Wenger a bit of stick but you mustn’t be blind to the good things he does or you lose all sense of balance. Wenger doesn’t have the resources of an oil sheik or Russian billionaire, but he’s kept us up there fighting for a place whilst building a new stadium which is crucial to Arsenals future. Arsenal competes with its own money, and can only get stronger from here, whilst other teams who have yet to rebuild will be in a much weaker position than us. Ps Hope Giroud has a brilliant season!!!

SAME OLD SAME OLD excuses. How come other Manager’s?Clubs don’t find it difficult to sign top players I Quote London teams + Man U Man City Liverpool etc etc.

Does anyone know about Goalkeeper, Central Defender, Midfielder (Everton’s Fellani) Bernard do you want me to go on NO Wenger has got his hands to deep in his pockets to spend. Wake up guys no new top players coming to us The boss man must be a very good poker player.

The reason wenger isn’t buying any players or leaving arsenal is that he still thinks the project he started 6-7 yrs about building a young winning team from the scratch with the likes of fab, van persie is still on when in truth it died with the departure of nasri and fab. Wenger is still trying to continue this project but just to keep the fans calm he is also buying one or two half decent players so we keep our mouth shut.

I’m more sick of the wenger die hard fans than wenger right now. Some of them actually believe that what we have right now is gud enough to win league. Whenever we critisise the board or wenger they say things you are not a true fan if you dont support the club when its down. It’s like im saying what a moronic club arsenal is!! Get it through your thik skull morons you are not the only ones who support arsenal. We think of this club more times then our gf or anything alse for that matter and we only want them to get better. And the only way to do that is to get rid of this rigid structure that the board and wenger created

It seems that some you guys are so dumb to knee that winger is losing it and isn’t right for the job anymore! He gives same excuses each year, tells so we can compete with the worst squad ever for a championship were we have teams who invest in their squad yearly.
Honestly RVP, Nasri, Clichy and the others that left for silver wares were al right tok have left !
Who do you intend to win a league with giroud that’s too slow and can find in between the post is quite alarming and baffles me.
For you all informtion, all the bid that psycho Wenger made was all a Russ and they were never serious bids !
We are all been toyed with, but funny enough, some disillusioned fans still believe we would actually be competing. You all should start praying as all I can see is we ain’t going for wenger’s so called trophy which is the champions league !
Honestly Wenger has ran out of ideas and should leave humbly cus to me he is just making a fool of himself

wenger must buy players if we are to compete at the highest level. I am tired of us going into games riding our luck. I am tired of feeding on our past glories in search of a reason for supporting arsenal and wenger. Hope must be given to us fans of winning something by the addition of real quality to our sqaud. It is not difficult to sign top players as wenger suggests, they have to be given hope of winning honors at a club, something they dont see at arsenal. Times have changed, mr. Wenger and so must you. You cant keep doing things the same way and expect different results.

After 55 years watching Arsenal and living in Highbury, I realise I love this club, but I don’t trust or like Wenger one iota. We are always about two quality players short of challenging for titles. This has now been for years. It’s as if Wenger actually doesn’t want to win anything. Something is not right in that guys head and all the supporters are getting no joy because of Wenger’s troubled mind.

Arsene will buy – There is still 30+ days remaining in the transfer window – Why spend now when there are bargains still to come? Arsene knows that the best deals are yet to come – This is the time when all managers play hard to get – But we all know that Suarez CANNOT remain at Liverpool and so he has to be let go – All Liverpool is trying to do is get the best price for him because it is public knowledge that Arsenal has $105M to spend!!…..just wait and see – the action has yet to begin – patience is the essence here 🙂
