It is beyond any doubt that Arsenal have improved a lot from last season and especially in the the big games, it is now about whether they have it in reserve to push on again and secure that elusive second place in the league which would give them an automatic champions league qualification place.
It remains to be seen how much ambition the club will show in the Summer transfer window but with Chelsea now being the benchmark after a fairly comfortable and successful campaign it just goes to show how important it is to conduct your business early.
Jose Mourinho‘s men recalled Thibaut Courtois from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid and made integral signings in the form of Cesc Fabregas and Diego Costa who have been the main reason why they have walked away with the league wish followed a poor showing last season which Mourinho addressed last Summer.
The inevitable emergence of Manchester United for next season will be interesting as they will definitely look to invest in the squad and have already agreed a deal with Dutch star Memphis Depay.
Manchester United‘s rivals Manchester City may well end up being a team in transition this Summer which is all dependent on the future of manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The likelihood is that Arsenal will find themselves finishing at least 10 points behind league champions Chelsea which just shows they are quite a way off being capable title contenders, Wenger’s side have made a habit of having impressive spells without managing to put together a complete season, this is something they have to overcome if they have any designs on a future premier league title.
Many media pundits believe Arsenal are short of four signings this would include a world class Goalkeeper and and world class Striker, it is very hard to argue with that. Wenger has a below par Wojciech Szczesny who is void of any real confidence, Olivier Giroud is the only capable striker within the squad, you could argue that Wenger‘s squad is light of at least two top quality Centre Forwards.
Arsenal have the quality to beat any side on any given day but it still remains to be seen whether the club has the resources and the required ambition to take that final step and win the first league title since “the invincibles” in 2004.
