Wenger takes your attention away.New Signings?,What New Signings?

Today Arsene Wenger played a blinder with the media.

He pulled something out the bag to takes your attention away from something else like “the lack of new summer signings”.

Lets make this clear, AW could of told us this “Great” news about him staying on at Arsenal at anytime…Why now?

Well its Wengers great deflection and decoy tactics

Its because we are about to go into a new season with only 3 CBs at the club. Two of which are Koscielny (who has never played in the EPL and has looked dogey in pre season)  and Djourou, (Who has looked even worst and has a worst injury record then Darren Anderton & has spent more time in the treatment room than on the pitch. And who would have guessed it, its out injured )

So basically we currently have 2 fit CBs.

Lets just compare that with our rivals

  • Arsenal (3) Vermaelen,Koscielny,Djourou
    Spurs (6) – Kaboul,Bassong,Dawson,Corluka,Woodgate,King.
    Man Utd (6) – Ferdinand,Brown,Smalling,Vidic,O’Shea,Evans
    Liverpool (5) -Aggerr,Kyrgiakoss,Carragherr,Skrtell,Wilson
    Man City (5) – Richards,Onuoha,Lescott,Kompany,Boatengg

Yes I accept that Alex Song could play at CB but then who covers him and plays DM? We dont have a back up DM for Song. And yes we also have Young players likeNordtveitt or GavinHoytee but both are not ready. What if Vermaelenn gets injured? Then what?… Its not back luck when a player gets injured. Players cant go the whole season as proved and you need good back up players. We are down to bare bones “AND THE SEASON HASNT EVEN STARTED YET”

I’m not even going to say anything about the fact that we didn’t address the GK problem this summer as I feel this CB issue is more important.

So we are about to kick off the new season with the same weak GKs as last season and with 4 CBs gone this summer and only 1 in we are 3 CBs lighter then last season.. so who thinks we are stronger this season?

And let me just talk about Wengers NEW deal to stay on as manager?….Ermmmm WHY? What has he done since 2005? We are basically rewarding him for failing.

But wait, this is Arsenal we are talking about.  Our board care more about making a profit then winning anything, no wonder they will offer Arsene a new contract. he makes more money then he spends. That is great for the share holders but shite for the fans. If you haven’t got money just come and say so, and I will admire the half decent team you managed to assemble, but do not come out and say we have money for transfers and then nothing happens when we well know we need to get some.

Like I keep saying, Its going to be a very long season.

Sinbad – debate this more on the forum www.arsenalaction.com/forum/

What a surprise? Complaining, whining and slating the club and manager yet again.

You are a soud and nothing that has been posted on this blog shows me anything different.

What about how you slated the club for selling cesc eh? When those beacons of truth and integrity were telling everyone Cesc was off to barca?

    Where’s the climbdown from that?

Didnt happen and that is the kind of garbage and low life behaviour one expects from simpletons like the tit who writes the bile.

Stop being so pathetic. The season hasn’t even stated yet and you’ve written it off. By most standards Wenger has done a fantastic job keeoing us in the champions league despite having no money. Yes we are all frustrated by no new goal keeper anbd the lack of a 4th centre half but there is still 2 weeks when Wenger does most of his signings. I think we will get a centre half (Saphic) but maybe no goalkeeper. Despite what you say we do have a chance this time. Stay cheerful!

If you’re going to list every defender that can play CB from other clubs then you should include Sagna, Gibbs, JET who have all played in this position.
Your league table shows we are sixth without even kicking a ball, such is the negativity here!

he is completely right to write us off already!! Almunia will cost us again and about Flappy I dont want talk about!! Fukk this french kunt can really do what he wants and this is kiddies project. I really dont want to see us loosing but with this limiited squad and two really shit gk we are out of top4. Wenger out, now!! At skysports there was an interesting poll in which 75 % of arsenal fans dont want Wenger to renew his contract. It will be funny to see “Arsene out” banners. But as WEnger is Arsenals god, lol it will be banned!! We need a protest immediately!!!

  8. jimbo

    August 13, 2010 at 7:11 pm

er , I think he was just answering the question asked by the media, regarding his contract.
Whats he supposed to do, answer a different question to the one asked?

Ask roberto mancini , harry redknapp, martin o’neil, roy hodgson and david moyes whether finishing in the top 4 since 2005 and challenging for the title with a new team of youngsters and the 2nd lowest budget in the premier league whilst sufferring huge injuries is a failure.

Did you see the celebrations of the 4th placed team last season?

Liverpool lost 1 player ( alonso) and finished 7th last season, the year before we lost hleb, gilberto, flamini, rosicky (injured), edu (injured), replaced withj youth players and still got top 4 and 2 semi finals.
And benitez is supposed to be a top manager, but wengers a mug?

How many players we could still have on our books if it wasn’t for this twat?

Let’s look at some facts when talking about Arsenal, Spurs, City, Liverpool and Villa in recent years.
Who has qualified 11 seasons in a row for the CL?
Who finished in the top two teams 8 out of 14 seasons whilst Wenger was in charge, and in the top 4 for the remainder of those years?
Who has had a 49 unbeaten run in the league in recent years (and won the title during it)?

Add to that a new 60,000 stadium, manageable debt, the best young English players coming through the system, a Champions league final in 2006, English ownership, the best laid football pitch in the league every year, the most exciting football to watch, etc. etc…….

Take a wake up call, and go and do something else with your time…internet blogging is not your strong point.

Is it always your time of the month when you post these rants?
I honestly think that if we do well this year and win a trophy or two you will be gutted, as you wont be able to slate Wenger. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I do not expect everyone to agree with mine, but you have very little of a constructive nature to say, you just seem to have a real hatred of Wenger.
When the team is doing badly, I bet you’re the first with the boos rather than willing the team on.
You just can’t appreciate what has been done over the last 13 years with such a limited budget, you are so blinkered.
I am not one of the AKB brigade, as you so enjoy labelling everyone who dissagrees with your ridiculously narrow minded views (I hated the way we went out of the FA cup last season and with the team he put out), I totally agree we need AT LEAST 1 CB and definitely a GK, but £18m for Jagielka is a joke and the transfer window is still open, he can still sign someone. You need to take a step back so you can see what a difference he has bought to this club. We have so many young players coming through that in another 5 yrs time we will be unstoppable and we wont be a billion in debt, we will be debt free, with half the England team being from Arsenal (yes, I really do believe this – you just have to read about the players 2-3 years younger than Wilshire).
You have been spoilt by how well we did in the first 8 years he was here.
You really do make me chuckle, but it’s time to grow up little boy and take all things into consideration before spouting off.

I would support Wenger in most cases but looking at the situation we are in right now all that comes to my mind is are you fucking kidding me?? We have 3 centre backs, 1 is always injured(he is already injured for fuck’s sake!), the other is new with no Epl experience and we still have Dumb and Dumber in goal ,yet everything sounds OK to some of you blind faith brigade?? Can you really go any further up Arsene’s ass? Just because you are a legend doesn’t give you the right to take us down! Wake up and smell the effin coffee. Ever ask yourself how we are the only team that lets go of more players than come in yet claim ”we are stronger!” we can’t use the excuse of saying there’s no money available any more and players,we don’t ask for world class 40 mil ones but adequate enough are available, so what’s the effin problem? and you were surprised Cesc wanted to leave? Enough with the bullshit!

So, you won’t include Song because he plays as DM, but you’ve included Corluka (has pretty much always played at RB for Spurs) and Woodgate (who’s very unlikely to make the 25 man squad). You’ve also included Richards (primarily a right back), Onouha (on loan at Sunderland), Kompany (who’s primarily been employed as a DM) and Boateng (who’s been signed as a full back). You have however made one glaring omission, Kolo Toure.

You kind of have to do one or the other. You can’t include players out of position for other clubs and then not include our lot.

Sinbad is right as usual he can see what a lot of others can’t see but they’ll open their eyes at the end of next season when they realise we are not in Europe all because our mana whoops! bank manager is too damn mean to spend. I think it’s disgusting the way the fans have been treated. I was a staunch Wenger fan until a year ago but now I can’t wait to see him leave or at least go upstairs and get a manager in who’ll spend some money at least… If he’d have spent some time at home watching the world cup instead of wasting valuable time working for TV instead of Arsenal Football Club he may have signed one or two decent players by now. Yes fellow Gooners if he doesn’t bring in one or two in the right positions before the start of the season and we don’t reach europe god knows where the club will go from there..

    August 13, 2010 at 8:26 pm

lol what i love is the way he keeps changing the goal posts each time, in the last q&a time which he took offence to someone calling silvestre a geriatric, he said give the team two more years and then judge me (lets not forget that would be 7years without the league and 6years without a trophy), of which we’ve already done last season now……so this was meant to be the penultimate year when judgement is supposed to fall on him for this project. you can already see that defensively we’re weaker than we were last year, and last may’s q&a time was suddenly reschedueled for september (again moving goalposts) it’s not rocket science “goals win games, defence wins championships” and we don’t buy big or teach gk/defence lol. Wenger has always traditionally waited till the last moment to eventually sign new his deals over the years, so what makes this time so different than all the others? As a true honarary man would’ve he should’ve stuck to his word, and been on the end of that judgement whatever it maybe, good/bad and then either sign or walk away, so why sign now? the perception arsene has given us is we can’t survive without him, but it’s actually he needs arsenal more….as ARSENE KNOWS he’ll never have it this good anywhere else EVER

DO WE FUCK wenger.Wenger has become so stubborn he refuses to see the glaring weaknesses we have in our squad

    August 13, 2010 at 9:13 pm

Since the defence AW inherited evaporated he has won nothing. He is a great tactician. Coaches midfielders and forwards really well but clearly knows little about defence. I fear that if he is to buy it will be last minute to get the price down, a bargain! Hoping that we will have enough firepower to get us through, barring Liverpool the easy, on paper, games before the window closes. However as results showed last season, Wigan 3-2 the prime example, there are no easy games. Will he buy anyone at all? I think possibly Schwarzer, maybe Saphic….probably no one and another noble 4th will come our way…didn’t he do well? He did once.

It is completely and utterly inconceivable that even the most ardent “AKB” cannot see that we are unable to compete as a club with Vermaelen,Koncielny,Djouou and Norvelt as our only Centre Back options combined with the Chuckle Brothers in goal-Song cannot be considered as an option whilst he remains as our only decent defensive midfielder
If the club was financially in the same state as Portsmouth then we could say that this was understandable but it is not; and this situation has therefore become an accident waiting to happen! This is nothing short of negligent mismanagement on every level and is in my mind a far greater crime than that of George Graham being caught with his hands in the till. I’m not talking about spending untold fortunes but simply making sure that players are purchased where needed within the squad. As poor as Senderos and Sylvestre were-they still have to be replaced!

Wow. Not only have you made up a story out of practically nothing but you’re also manipulating numbers to try and prove a point again.

You’ve completely left out Chelsea, title favourites and probably our biggest “rivals” because their centre back situation isn’t amazing at the moment and doesn’t help the point.

You’ve not put in Song who is not used as a centre back but can play there while you could say the same of others there like Corluka.

You’ve also added in players like Smalling who are unproven young backup players while completely ignoring Nortdveit from our list. If Nordtveit played for Fulham he would’ve been good enough to have the same opportunities that Smalling had.

I agree we need more depth in defence and in goal, but it’s not like Wenger & Arsenal have not been trying. We have had bids rejected for Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Pepe Reina and Mark Shwazer. I think we need some patience, because the intent is their hopefully we will still get a quality defender and goal keeper before the deadliine.

so wengers a french cunt/wanker then? what a disgusting way to talk about our finest ever manager. who are these 75 per cent that they asked who wants wenger out? they did,nt ask me, mind you a moderate voice never gets heard in this hyperbolic talksport world we live in where the likes of darren gough,s words are treated as gospel.
this is a club that has gone thru major upheaval with the move that was so sorely needed to our state of the art stadium while still remaining competative and whilst i am desperate to see us win silverware as i have been every season for the last 40 years.i realise that it is a sport not a theatre show where you can write whatever ending you want and to that end i do not feel mugged off for the last 5 years that i have paid for my tickets. 2 title tilts a champs league final and semi.
an fa cup semi , a league cup final and 2 semis do not a crisis make.
i suggest you go and join the media love in for harry redknapp and go and look in that snake oil salesmans trophy cabinet before you start throwing insults around at our boss. he may be a stubborn frustrating cove but he has done enough for this club to be treated with a little more civility.only one team in recent seasons have a better record than us and that is that red nosed cunt/wankers team.

Er, while you are right that we need another centre back, you clearly didn’t actually watch the press conference. He was simply asked about whether he would sign a new contract and he answered. The idea that he brought up signing a new contract to deflect attention just doesn’t square with what actually happened. The fact that the media then made it the big story of the press conference was their choice.

If you care enough about Arsenal to write a blog about it, I’d have thought you’d at least watch the press conferences!

DIKTO, the sahreholders at arsenal fc do not take dividends. Any profit stays in the club and has done for many many years. But the rest of your comment is absolutely correct.

JOEL, he has said he’s looking for a defender. But guess you know who is good enough for us, actually for sale and fits into AWs long term plans for the team. Yes he must listen to you and your championship manager knowledge. Ignore the fact that one rumour about Saphic had his team owner spouting that he was worth 27m instead of the 8-10m he’s probably really worth. Because you know better!

if wenger is so worried about balancing the books and saving money then why dosnt he take a wage discount last time i checked he was the top paid manager in the epl. the thing that is frustrating is the fact that arsenal have had the potential to be a fantastic team that could win trophies for the past 5 yrs. but we are always that 2 to 3 players short. nobody is asking wenger to go out and splash out on overrated players. given looks likely to leave city we could get him on the cheap. and why did wenger not buy a player like jerome boateng he only cost 10 million. there are good players out there that you can get on the cheap. wenger needs to do is spend 20 million on the defence and then we will have a team that will win things. 20 mill in the football world is like 2 quid to us so he is hardly breaking the bank. wenger needs david dein back he seems to be the one that pushed for money to be made available for transfers and he definitely would have got us the much needed gk and cb’s 5 yrs ago.

“we are still short at the back and we need to add” Wenger said this. This tells me we are still in the process of signing players and yeah its not ideal that we aren’t done with our transfer work at this point but thats no reason to write off this whole year before its even started

  42. Mabs

    August 17, 2010 at 8:13 pm

Yes yes and yes! Aresne wenger is a smart enough guuy in psychology to understand what he does and when he does it. That is a term in psychology called a deflection. By doing this he allows himself to be asserted for the futuring with many fans calling him the best signing of the season. Well if he is going to get of the bench and start playing CB then he would, but we would still be short of 1 CB. He also seems to think the fans just want big signings with big wages; i speak for most when i say i don’t want robinio or yaya toure at this club i want his philosphy to suceed, youth to the top but to do this you need back up for all your positons and if you want to challenege for the PL and The CL you need players who can step up and be world class. Not djourou (no offence), densilion (offence), clichy, diaby, bednther and vela. Who might be great championship players but are not suitable for this team. He needs to invest; maybe not big but atleast to strengthen his squad. Liverpool, chelsea and man utd have all made signing in the poistions while promtong their youth (johhny evans, sturgidge, warnock). Sinbad i don’t know if you write all these articles but you have my backing from all these fans that think the club is succeding by just competing in the CL. Keep writing son.
