Its time for Wenger to do the right thing and walk away…

Its time for Wenger to do the right thing and walk away…

Before I start I would like to say that Arsene Wenger has done some fantastic things for Arsenal FC. There is no doubt that Wenger has taken the club forward during his time and we have been lucky enough to have seen some fantastic football. Also off the pitch Wenger has been key to the way the club has been a major success with profits record most years and by moving to a new high class stadium.

But there comes a time when you have to draw a line and say enough is enough.

Arsenal haven’t won anything since 2005, and if anything Wenger is now starting to take the club backwards with his stubbornness.

The problem with Wenger is that he is very out of touch with reality. Only last week he said that this bunch of players are his greatest ever? .. Yes? Even better then the likes of Bergkamp, Vieira, Pires, Adams, Seaman Etc..

Wenger refuses to admit that he was wrong in not spending this summer or last summer when it was clear that we needed strengthening in key areas. GK, CB, DM and a clinical striker.

We all knew 2/3 years ago that we needed a power CB? Where is he?

Most of us were crying out for Gary Cahill in the summer or a player in that style. What happened, we allowed Gallas, Campbell, Silvestre and Senderos to leave for nothing and signed 2 CB with no EPL experience? I would say that Wenger did this on the cheap, But Wenger spent £8m on a CB who has been less then convincing and worst then all the players we allowed to leave for nothing. How many more times are we going to see teams score from free kicks or balls into the box? You cant keep blaming the keeper. Our CB should be dealing with this. ITS THERE JOB!

Wenger in his wisdom decide to not sign a GK this summer and stuck with Almunia as our number 1.. What happened. Almunia as we all knew he would made a massive mistake and he was dropped. To his credit Fabianski has come in and did “OK” but he will make mistakes just like Almunia. Wenger cant keep on switching from 1 dodgy keeper to the next. He has had more then enough time to address this.

We sold Eduardo, a clinical finish but not best suited to our current style of play of 4-5-1 and signed a player in Chamack who works the line well and links play well but he is not an out and out striker.
How many times have we recently seen Chamack thro on goal but stop, and refuse to take a shot? What type of striker doesn’t want to score? Put Drogba, Torres in that same position and they will only have 1 thing on there mind, and that’s hitting the back of the net.

Moving on to tactics…
Wenger has taken us from a successful 4-4-2, (Henry with Bergkamp just off with 2 wide players in Pires,Ljungberg or Overmars. and 2 CM in Vieira,Gilberto, Petit,Flamini)… to the current 4-5-1? WHY? We were winning things the old way? Why change it? And by changing it we are now weaker then before. So why are you sticking with something that’s not working?

Song and Denilson are supposedly in the team to act as a defensive shield, yet neither of them are capable of doing it. Most teams play with 1 DM and are strong. We have 2 and still let in 3 goals at home??? so whats the bloody point?

So overall Wenger has got EVERYTHING wrong over the last 3 years. from not signing the right players. to selling the wrong players and not replacing them.. to the tactics.

Lets face it Arsenal are never going to SACK a manager that makes a load of profit are they? So its time Wenger did the right thing and stepped aside.

We need a fresh start.. The back room staff and manager need to go… We need new ideas because Wenger and his project with kids and cheap signings is NOT working.

Thank you for everything you have done for us Mr Wenger, but its time for change at Arsenal

well done mate you got every thing wright. Very proud of you. Thanks

  2. jhimbo says:

how you gonna feel if this “fresh start” leads us to fall away miserably like liverpool and finish 7th? have a bit of common sense, realise that it’s been impossible to keep up with ciry, utd, chelsea and their riches past few years, and accept that at least in these “horrible times” we are still regularly reaching semi finals, CL qualification etc…

  3. Arsenal Fan (WENGER OUT) says:

Arsenal have gone stale under the current manager. Our only chance of do something this season is the Carling Cup and we’ll probably go out of that to Wigan a week on Tuesday. As long as we finish in the top four Wenger remains our manager.

  4. Geo says:

Sorry mate but you’re talking absolute bollocks. You obviously don’t know what’s good for Arsenal.

  5. Jay says:

Were third in the table, and you want to change the entire backroom staff + a new manager. Its going to happen at some point but I feel it would be a downfall when Wenger leaves. He has so much control and respect within the club.

  6. RedandDread says:

It would be such a massive upheaveal for Wenger and all his staff to leave and that could set the club back a way, particulalry mid-season. However, if it is that we are having problems in certain areas of the pitch, i.e defending (which we have now had for years) then why not bring in a specialist defensive coach to review and tweak or system and make receomemndations on players that could be purchased. Also, we seem to be not taking opportunities in front of goal-is that an area that could use some specialist assistance also.

I am tired of his excuses about , tiredness, complacency, “but stats show we had more possession and the opponents had only 1 shot on goal”. This is a results driven business and he has been given ample time to sort out or deficiences and he cannot do it, either with new tactics or new players. Therefore he is doing something wrong and he needs to be told that in no uncertain terms by his employers. He cannot always lay the blame at the players because they are an extension of what he has taught them and the methods he has used to develop them. If at the end of the season we find ourselves in 3rd/4th without silverware then I say a change is needed of the greatest magnitude.

  7. jack says:

who the hell are u man?evry fan is frustated.this was probably the worst arsenal game i ever witnessed.1 we lost to spurs at home.
2 we were about to go at top in league
3 when after 1st half it looked we woulld win the game surely
these things make this defeat even more difficult to swallow.past 3 nights i have not had a sound sleep.now tell me who is there to replace wenger.the moment we release him likes of man city ,chelsea, inter, even real madrid would be after him.a change doesn’t necessarily mean good.everybody talks about gary cahill.do u think had he been there we would have not lost.i still believe we were unlucky in last match. although we made mistakes.but be patient.spurs are not better than us.once vermaelen is back we would be super strong.even sunderland defeated chelsea. wait for this season to get over.then be the judge.i agree on chamakh.even before we signed him i knew he is not great with his feet.he doesnt have that confidence when he has ball at his feet.the only thing i like is his headers.so in the end dont act like an impatient fan.let this season get over.be optimistic

  8. Me says:

Simple question for those who want Wenger out… Who will you replace him with in the middle of the season? All the managers better than him all have jobs at the world’s best clubs. Do you think Mourinho will leave Madrid to run Arsenal? Or Fergie will leave Man U? Please use your brain.

  9. Jameson says:

Before I begin I would LOVE for you to name a replacement on the basis that Wenger “walks away” today?? Go on… I will be waiting patiently for a response.

If Spurs had not got that penalty or got that free kick we would be sitting top of the league and I have no doubt that this garbage piece of writing would have never existed… Right?? It just shows how fickle you are. No question that defeat cut me and many others deep but your reaction to it is just laughable. You have no basis for an argument here you might as well have cut and paste excerpts from the toilet rags over the last couple of years to be honest.

I am ashamed that you support the same great football club as me. You don’t deserve a club with such tradition and stature.

You deserve a club that hasn’t won the league for over 50 years and has finished below their greatest rivals for 24 out of the last 25 years. Any ideas?

  10. Ghena says:

i didnot hav the tym te read this nonsense you call a publication,, im here to sort out all you spies,, u not a arsenal suppporter maybe you like the way we play but we dont have disprespect for leadrship at our club.. if wenger decides to play vela up fron or jet and leave robin and chamahk on the bench we support him so i wanna encourage the real arsenal fans to be carefull when reading this dunbschit stuffs.. IN WENGER WE TRUST!!!

  11. Ed says:

Sinbad…………..had we won, we would have been top of the league and I am 100% sure your tone would have been different………..ok, we lost, and believe me, I am as hurt as anyone…..45 mins of terrible football however, does not make us a bad team, nor does it require crap written about our team like this pathetic article you have written. Agreed Wenger made a few wrong decisions on Saturday, but there is no man in the world that can achieve what he has for us……In Wenger we Trust……

P.S – We dont need fans like you, so i suggest you f*ck off and slag another team off…….you peasant!!!!

  12. Roader 100 says:

You are a child, you go on about problems in goal, Wenger tried to sigh Reina, Liverpool would not sell, at centre back, Gallas went for the same money he’s getting at Spuds, his greed. I was at the game, for me it turned on the penalty, without that, the likes of you would have to shut up. Who are you, who have you coached or managed at what level, l have to tell you watching the game on Tv and listening to the likes of Shearer and co. on match of the day does not mean your opinion carries any weight. There is alot more to managing a club than picking the team and you dismiss Wengers ability to do so at a profit at your peril. Look at Chelski, just 17 first team players and their chairman having had enough of wasting his money, utd short of money to invest, this crisis we are in and have been according to the likes of you for a while, Arsenal are three points off the top, and we’re not even half way. Football in this country had become boring with the top four not allowed to lose, other teams have improved and we have the most profitable stadium. In the future when the world economy has changed and tv money won’t be so easily squandered, Wenger a man of vision will lead Arsenal to total domination, the likes of you, a fool blinded by his short sighted ill informed view of football and the world will deny you ever held the opinions you do now and will praise the great man. What is the name of the new manage you want? and a question for you. Where in the league would end up in may if Wenger left?

  13. Kenneth says:

I agree 100% with your analysis. Wenger simply needs to buy and buy right. Big players cost big money and when the choice of the big player is right …. he simply will deliver. From the time he made an attempt to sign Chamakh i questioned the decision, i felt that should have instead given a player like Vela or Bendtner more play time cos Chamakh of to me of less quality.

He hardly ever outruns any defender, strikes from a distance or even muscle his way through the opponents goal area which some of our mid fielders do. So whats the point having a striker who will Constantly miss sitters.

Wenger simply needs to change his philisophy

  14. DARREN says:

hey we lost to the spuds dats true but calling for wenger head dats crazy talk the guy singlehandly changed our club for the better from the tea ladies up and its working not the finished product yet but close ,dont get me wrong i get just as frustrated as the next gonner but do u honestly think we would in the position we are without arsene?weve had the privelage of henry pires vieira freedie overmars players dat were brought to the club because of arsene. financially we are better of dan most of the clubs in europe let alone england .i do agree we should spend some cash on players but only if we need them anew centre bck, and anew dm, gk .how many teams would swap places wit us id say around 98% even utd arent as financially sound as we are . we were beaten dats it move on were far to big aclub to wollow in our own self pity so instead of getting in dway with negativity get behind arsene as im sure u love the club just asmuch as the next guy . darren

  15. jack says:

‘me says’ do u think mourinho will do better than arsene.he will bankrupt us within a year.he has only done well because he has been in the clubs who had plenty of money big name players

  16. Carlito11 says:

Anyone calling for Wenger’s head needs their own head looking at! If you’ve only been an Arsenal fan since 1996 then I can understand this but apart from Mourinho there is no one in world football who could do what Arsene has done for us. I know it hurts like mad to be beaten by the spuds and there does need to be an inquest, especially at the back, but the action called for in this blog is OUT OF ORDER!

  17. gooner says:

sorry but removing the manager would be too big a blow for the club. And what are you complaining about were 3rd with only 2 points between us and the leaders, were in to the quater finals of the carling cup and were top of the group in the champions league. Thats the differance between us and united fans, wen times get rough they stand behind their squad. Quick question are you truely an arsenal fan? coz i doubt it

  18. kim says:

if you think wenger isnt doing great, then pliz forward a thwart for the post coz that is the shortest way for falling down

  19. femo says:

it is quite disheartening that die hard arsenal fans fail to see the writing on the wall. it is only in arsenal that we have a team in top flight go on for 5 seasons without a trophy and still want to retain the coach. if wenger should die now are you saying the club will not survive. do you as a fan go to watch your team play becos of profits. we wach them play becos we want trophies. so enough of this bull shit, if the present coaching staff cannot produce trophiues they should be sacked.

  20. Maciek says:

    Me, mate.

Wenger should stay…..for now. If we fail again in May, he should be allowed to go. If he won’t go, than sack him and try to replace him in the summer with Hiddink, maybe Dixon and Keown combo, Jurgen Klopp frm Dortmund is doing great things, Joahim Low is good, Blanc.

We don’t know if Szczęsny would have been much better than Alm unia, but he wouldn’t have been any worse. garry CVahill wouldn’t have made mistakes Koscielny made.

It’s now brainer that we need a WORLD CLASS CDM and Song, Denilson are average. Toulalan or Sissoko from Touluse would have added some steel to our midfield.

Suarez or Benzema and you have 20 goals more in one season.

    Buy, or bye ,bye.

  21. Brian says:

Agreed, he’s lost the plot and Arsenal will never win anything again under his stewardship. The defence sucks and has done for years and he’s fucking clueless on how to fix it – even an amateur coach could do a better job than he does at tactics.

Now is not the time to get rid, however, but the end of this season will be when Arsenal have failed again to challenge for a trophy. I think Arsenal fans will have to be the ones to kick him out as the board only care about money and thats what Wenger gives them.

Wenger must go in April/May, and if the board hasn’t got the bollocks to do it we should start with the Gazidis banners as well.

  22. Zak says:

Who will you replace Wenger ?
    Who ????
    Give me one name.

    “jack” says (nonsense):
“Mourinho only done well because he has been in the clubs
who had plenty of money big name players”
    yeah, like FC Porto

  23. Leon says:

I would like Wenger to stay simply because three quarters of what he has done has been good for the club HOWEVER he needs to understand that every successful side has a spine to it – a core of irrepaceable players throughout the middle of the team. Chelsea have it with Cech – Terry – Essien/Lampard – Drogba and that is why they win things whereas we just have Fabregas. What Wenger needs to do is spend some money on a world class established goal keeper, central defender and striker to give us that spine and then we will be able to clear that final hurdle – in short he needs to spend some of that profit he is so proud to have made..

  24. goonergerry says:

Look I know its frustrating- and I am starting to feel that we are going round in circles and have not sorted out basic defensive problems. But you have to ask yourself- did you want to sack the manager last week when we had beaten Everton away? I don’t recall that you did.
Do you seriously want to sack the manager every time we lose a game? How can the manager account for his captain inexplicably handling a ball going over his head and gifting a goal?

Walking away – well ok then who will manage Arsenal? Who ?

  25. Mike says:

What would have happened if we had won the game ? The game of soccer has 3 outcomes and there is no law out there that guarantees us a win all the time . Grow up fans , let us wait for the season to end and see how we take it from there.

  26. Chippie says:

I agree with Sinbad, Wenger has taken the club as far as he can. Yes he has completely change the Arsenal brand, and yes he is an Arsenal legend; you can either say his name on the same breathe as the great Herbert Chapman. However just because we don’t know exactly who we will replace him with does that mean we stay with the status quo and not move forward.

One manger springs to mind, who has visited our training ground and has made no secret that he likes the Arsenal way. He would love the idea that he would have full control of the club and would not be under immense pressure from the board. He has also gone on record that he would like to work at a smaller club which wouldn’t have as high expectations as his present club. The man in question is Pep Guardiola

Mr Wenger thank you for what you have done for the club but its time you go up stairs and be a director of football or something.

  27. Barry O says:

Oh dear, I know its all about personal opinion and you are engendering debate, but I think you have missed the mark here.
It was a desperate dissapointment but credit (that hurts) to Sp*rs for their second half performance (yes ours was woeful). We are still right on the shirt tails of Man U and Chealsea who are both suffering similarly so far this season.
However, my view is that the top 3 have not got worse in the last couple of seasons, more so that the rest of the pack has finally woken up and realised that they too can play football and win at The Emirates, Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge.
As fans we are all entitled to our own opinions, however, we need to be mindful that winning trophies is all well and good but can be incredibly boring (remember boring boring Arsenal, Don Howe and George Graham’s teams?). Wenger has delivered before playing great (and sometimes fantastic) football and I would much rather win titles and cups under him than any other manager. Would you fancy watching the dirge that Morinho’s teams churn out week in week out? I urge you to keep the faith and recognise the signs that, a few very poor results aside, we are better equiped to challenge this season than for a long long time.

  28. ultrav3 says:

Yes we’re 5 seasons without trophies. Yes we didn’t replace the keeper and perhaps the right defenders. But fellow gooners must realise that we built a $390 mil stadium during the time and we continue to qualified for Champions League every season. Now you’re saying that our coach should leave???!!! It’s just absolute bollocks. Just imagine how many star players will leave after AW and who will attracts the brightest young talents around the globe to the emirates? Given our financial budget, I am dare to say that if not because of AW, we would now be fighting hard for the Europa league. Champions is still within reach, the season have a long way to go. With Chelsea and ManU doesn’t have the money as b4, we still have a chance. People who are saying AW should leave, pls look at the big picture and don’t be short sighted. In Arsene we trust!

  29. jonny says:

Problem was the player on saturday. Too complacent at 2-0 up, not clinical in killing the game off. Fabregas handball for the 2nd penalty was rediculous and unnesseary and the third unfortunately was inevitable.

Were still only 2 points off 1st and a long way to go…things could be worse. Just need to bounce back and string a few good results together and youll soon change your tune.

  30. Styler says:

Terrible article, sums up exactly why there is such a poisonous atmosphere towards AW and his team in some parts of the stadium.

Suggesting getting rid of AW when we were 45 minutes of concentrated football away from topping the PL is frankly ridiculous.

  31. Flintstone says:

It is actually a bad idea for AW to walk away, the structure and core of the team will collapse big time for any new miracle worker-manager to uphold and develop. Not to mention you need a change of the board to make things happen, which is not possible. There is nothing very wrong except the glaring patched up defence since the trophy days. All he has to do for team, fans, club and himself is to reinforce and really pay respect to a solid defence structure, which will win or draw for the team in weak or bad times. Be a bit more realistic in benching players, even they are favourites do-nothing-ers,and reward those in form and with correct fighting spirit. It will cost less to address the fault with him on the helm than a newcomer. The question is whether he is prepared to look at the obvious defensive flaw and have guts to iron out the wrinkles,no point in pretending do not know where to look, while all opposition managers knew and attacked it successfully, season after season. He could and should, although he nearly got away with keeping the calamity keepers briefly. He needs to face reality fast and act as such. He is still the best man on the watch, but must adapt.

  32. Jena says:

Wenger must be made to account for poor results and its all we are asking for. He seems to get away with these poor results. Just look at the heat that has been turned on Ancelotti for losing 2 games on the trot. And yeah Carlo won the double last season. This shows the difference between a winning mentality and a ” if we finish number 4 we are ok mentality’. The board should come out an voice their concerns when we lose matches…………..coz at the moment it seems Wenger is untouchable and can get away with anything. This is not right for a club which should be aiming to win the EPL and the UCL. The risk is that the board and Wenger will alienate the fans who want success on the pitch while their sole focus is on making money…and yeah they are increasing prices of already expensive tickets. For what……to watch the dross they are dishing out at home very other game , to watch them stumble to number 4 and trophyless every season, to watch them lose to freaking Spuds at home.
If Wenger is such a great coach
    1. Why cant he coach our defenders to defend freekicks….we have been conceding from free kicks since time immemorial.
    2. We hardly score from corner kicks ans set pieces
    3. Why cant we hold onto a 2-0 lead at home agianst our biggest rivals?
    4. Why havent we won anything for 5 seasons and the excuse keep coming?

Our wage bill is one of the largest in the EPL and any manager can come to Arsenal and finish trophyless and number 4. ITs not too hard to achieve. But most people have come to accept the mediocrity under Wenger just coz he won us trophies years ago. Arsenal will still be there when Wenger is gone and I think the time to move forward is now and bring in an new manager.

  33. Simon Cowell says:

I totally agree, get him out, absolute rubbish, he is a disgrace and has well outstayed his welcome ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….. oh, Wenger? I thought you said Wagnor!!!!

  34. Steve Palmer says:

I understand your frustration, loseing to Tottenham is probably the one thing an Arsenal supporter hates worse, you can be in tenth position in the league, but as long as you finnish above them and win the games you play against them, things dont seem so bad. Arsenal fans are the worst losers in the world, we moan we blame we try and analise why we have lost and still cant take it in, we would love to blame Spurs for cheating, blame them fot being dirty, blame them for time waseting, but we cant, because they beat us fair and square, after being two down they fought back and kicked our arses, on our own ground, we still need someone to blame who, Fabregas because he put his hand up and gave a penalty away, pehaps Chamakh because he never took a shot when he should have done, perhaps Song because he lacks defensive duties, even maybe Sagna because he didnt follow Bale to the other side of the pitch, you know and i know we cant blame one single player they were all at fault, so now we look at Wenger he must be at fault, theres no one else to blame, he fielded a team that could and should have won that game, the players on the field had all done their bit to put us in the position to go top, yes maybe you would have put him here or him there but i dont think anybody at the start of the game was that unhappy with the team,Believe me Wenger was’nt at fault, He felt as every Arsenal supporter felt, sick as a parrot at the end of the game.
That said with the hurt of a bad day still acheing in our hearts, we have to regroupe and think to our next game, hope we can put the aching hurt behind us and move forward. come on you Gunners

  35. Carlito11 says:

Steve- you speak sense-good on you! femo- you are a gloryhunter- true supporters support their team through thick and thin. It’s not just about trophies- we are in with a shout of trophies and that does matter. Beating Tottenham at home- that matters too! If we didn’t stand a chance of winning a trophy you would have cause for complaint but every year we are in contention and that says so much about our manager.

  36. Sinbads a sh** says:

It’s time for YOU to do the right thing and stop blogging. If you feel really nice, you could come out of the closet as a spuds supporter, funny how u never blog when we go well, bet you were waiting for this day weren’t ya?

  37. Joe71 says:

I agree Sinbad, and I have been saying this for the last three years but always shouted down. Even when Wenger won his first double he refused to strengthen depending on his useless kids. We know what happened next. Utd did the treble. I now believe Wenger was never a good manager after all. He was someone who got lucky by buying decent players even he would not have realised would turn out great. Yet these players learnt from others who Wenger was lucky to have such a foundation from. Vieira learnt from Adams, Campbell chose Arsenal (we were lucky with that one), Henry learnt how to place a ball in the corner of the goal from Bergkamp and Pires and Lungberg also learnt from the great one. If Wenger was really a great manager he will not go 5 seasons without winning anything. I am sure SAF and Mourinho will win the title with the current players we already have, because they are more equipped tactically.

Even if we have an average manager that knows what defending mean, stop treating the players like prima donnas, instill some balls in them, and spend £40m in the transfer window (Carroll, Cahill and Swartzer) we will still win the title. Fabianski is a good goalie but people have failed to realise that the only reason he appears poor at crosses is because he is not tall enough. Funny Wenger has not worked that one out – and you tell me he is a good football manager ? Believe me, even Fat Sam will win the title with the resources we have – this is how bad Wenger has been – he uses his past glory, fame at making profits to conmtinue his stubborn ways because no one can touch him. Fame at making profits ? Sorry Kols £10m compared to Van Der Vaart £8m. You work out the maths, because a championship defneder is not worth more than £3m.

Please Mr. Wenger, resign now so you can spend more time with your Parisienne girlfriend, Arsenal will do just fine without you, and thanks for the memories of your past glories.

  38. Bishop says:

I don’t really blame you for such a shallow write up. I’ll blame the advance in technology which has enabled all sort of people to write blogs. Otherwise what would someone with such a myopic view be doing writing. This is an absolute joke!

  39. Steve Palmer says:

Carlito, allways a pleasure reading your comments your a true Gooner Son

  40. J Gooner says:

dude, the premier league is still wide open, without AW, we might even finish worse. Have some faith in AW. We’re still contenders looking at the league points. don’t worry. and AW is still the man to me. he’s fantastic managing the club. if you support arsenal without Arsene, then i think it’s best for you to support some other teams. sorry.

  41. Craigie says:

Wenger is a genius because he’s got us into a state where we need him.

Our fall from grace over the past few years means that for us to attract a player, all we have is Wenger is the champion’s league. A player will sign for international superclub Manchester United FC to play for the club, but players come to Arsenal because they are young and want to work with Wenger. They want to play for Wenger’s Arsenal, the pass and move quick football team, rather than for Arsenal Football Club. I think a lot of the players that we have only came here for that and I think while a lot of people think a mass exodus would never happen I think it’s a possibility that a few wouldn’t like the change. Don’t get me wrong I think we need a change of direction but it would have to be another complete change in philosophy.

Wenger just isn’t suited to the English game of management. We know for a fact that he has TRIED to sign players, but here we are with no players. We definitely made bids for Reina and Jagielka, two top class premiership experienced players but we didn’t get them. That clearly shows he identified a weakness and wanted to improve it but we ended up with nothing. Any other manager would’ve had a list of goalkeepers and just got the club to deal with it, but it seems like he wants to do all the transfers himself and just runs out of time? Wenger tried to hold on to Flamini, which means he wanted to have an extra player in that position but still we’re lacking. When you hear him talk about transfers he just sounds like he is too nice. “We phone the club and say is he available, they say no and we say good day”. Surely when they say no that’s when you say “10 million”.

I don’t understand his obsession with good football and France. Why Koscielny? He’s no genius. He could become a “good” centre half, but for 8 million quid you could’ve just bought a “good” centre half. There’s plenty of them in the league that are good enough without being a superstar. Samba, Cahill, Hangeland etc. None of them bad players, but all able to hold their own in the physical fight and more importantly all able to jump and head a ball clear. Maybe Kos is a slightly better footballer with the ball at his feet but who cares? He’s not even a threat from corners, it’s a joke when he goes up because he’s no bigger than any of the other players and he’s had chances at corners and just failed.

It’s just a joke because really we have all these inexperienced players, but for me all it would take is a strong experienced heading centre back and a strong experienced midfielder and a keeper. Three players, that’s it. We could get serious improvements in all those areas for what, £25-30ish million? And that’s it, we wouldn’t need to buy anyone for a few years because our squad is decent enough in the other areas, and we’d raise a bit of money by selling diaby or denilson (one would have to go if a midfielder came in) and almunia.

It’s been the same problems for the past 3 years, we could’ve dealt with this 3 years ago and there’s nobody to blame but Wenger. I think his stubbornness is now starting to push us backwards which is not on because 3 years ago we had crap players and a hope that they would improve but song/denilson/diaby/djourou/bendtner etc haven’t come on enough for me.

The idea, at least I thought the idea was to get players very young and very cheap, and fast track them to greatness. We got Robin at 21 and he didn’t start to become great until about 24, I thought the point was to get players like Bendtner and Walcott at 17, throw them in at the deep and and by 21-22 they’d be top class. I actually think rather than making players Wenger is ruining them. If Bendtner had been playing for Newcastle or Sunderland since 17 he’d have got a lot more games and he’d have an identity. Right now we don’t know if he’s trying to be Ibrahimovic or Henry or Berbatov or who? They’re not learning about real football they’re just learning about passing it around a bit which I think is why players flop when they leave us. Djourou knows nothing about real defending because he’s never played at his own level. He’s either played reserve football or first team, he should have been doing his learning elsewhere. I don’t care that he played 10 games on loan, he should’ve spent 2 full seasons on loan at different clubs where he could make his mistakes and learn from them. You can’t just a make a player unless they are a genius to begin with.

look all we need to do is bring in a defensive coach to help out at the back with organisation FFS, we need say keown, bould, or the like of who will take this as a challenge, no point getting rid of wenger as he is awesome, but may not have the tactics to sort the defence out, nothing wrong ith this just swallowa bit of pride… if we got a pettition up for a defensive coach would they listen …. i doubt it but at least we tried as against moaning.

spuds will get lst in their own hype struggle once they qualify for knock out stage of europe- or ideally qualify for europa league, we just need a bit of defensive in put, you read that there are lots of players that support us (like ashley young who would complement the forward line) if there are any centre halfs of the same mould that would put their bodies on the line like JT@chelsea and TA^ when we had him the problem will be solved.

ooh and give the captaincy to somone who can shout and organise and leave cesc to just play and run the game!!!!

I love Wenger and God knows I don’t want to see him out, however he now has to admits his mistakes, soryy to say that a game against Tinies must not be lost this way, this is not correct for us, fans. Don’t blame Koscielny, the block is young and he does some great job, he hasn’t got half season in EPL, so give him a chance

  44. goonnneeeerrrrr says:

Truth be told, Wenger isn’t the problem with Arsenal. The people who are slowly and steadily sending Arsenal down the footballing abyss are those so-called fans who keep urging him on in his stupidity.

As for those asking who’ll replace him should he decide to honourably leave, I ask you, who did you expect to replace Bruce Rioch???

can not believe all the negativity surrounding chamakh he has scored and created alot of goals so far, and he works his balls off unlike alot of these other lasy bastards. he has a tendency to hesitate but that comes from wengers philosophy to raise your head and see if you have a team mate in a better position, chamakh needs to do what henry did and not listen to the coaching staff or he will end up like wiltord, but im sure he will sort this part of his game very soon. what happened on saturday is nothing to do with chamakh, even if he took that chance what was the odds of spurs scoring 4. our defense is absolutely hopeless they have no clue, do they not realise when a ball comes into the box you have to jump and try to use that thing on the top of your neck to head it in the opposite direction, they are like a bunch of brain deads. id say our defense is of the same calibre as wolves and the only reason we dont concede as much is because we have players that keep possesion better than wolves, but not all the time as they have sometimes proved this season.

U people have spoken well but there is no need shying away from the truth. If wenger is as good as the way you people are saying, why can’t he dictate the major problem of his team and solve it?He knows we do have good CB, DM AND A SHARP SHOOTER even a good goalkeeper yet he does’t want to sign any.I want to ask. Is he signing these players with his money? Almost the whole managers in this world know that arsenal don’t have good CB.Even some manager said it in their press conference that they were going to capitalise on arsenal weak CB by using the long balls which they did and it worked them.still he does want to do anything about it.may be he is waiting for somebody to remind him so,the board should remind his wit instances.wenger should take the fans serious cos after the spur lost i nearly run into an on coming vehicle.gunner4ever!

Great Post and one which expresses the belief of all the honest, knowledgeable, true Arsenal fans…. not the AKB’s who can’t see the obvious staring them in the face……. they need to realise that we are stagnating under Wenger, he is past his best to put it in perspective….. we had 6 good years from him, now we have almost reached 6 poor years!

    Wenger out……. Yes
why….. because he has definately become stubborn, tactically inept, focused on a single style of play, ignorant of what is required to win the top trophies, unable to see past 2nd rate players that he has bought into the squad (Eboue, Denilson, Bendtner, Koscielny, Squillachi, Walcott, Fabianski, Almunia, Chamakh) etc.,
    Replace him now…….Yes
why now….. because it’s better to do it when you are in a healthy-ish position rather than wait for us to be lower down the league, which is quite likely where we will be come season end.
    Replace the coaching staff…..Yes
with a few exceptions, keep Bould & Brady…..Rice the Yes man must definately be removed from the asst managers position.
Who is there to replace him?? Well for one there is Martin O’Neil who with meagre resources managed to take Villa up into the top 10, with Celtic he won countless trophies, with Leicester he built a side that was promoted to the EPL and stayed there.

Sadly I don’t believe Wenger will go for 2 reasons…… 1. he is to stubborn and full of his own self importance to go, and 2. The Board have not got the balls or imagination to make him go!

  48. Matt says:

Sorry forgot to put in the list of 2nd raters….Diaby, Song & Djourou

  49. tim says:

The problem with Wenger’s supporters is that they are driven by Fear and past glory rather than analysis.
They are also distinctively undemocratic and feel they are the best fans while others are not. This means that they seem to think they are more wise or intelligent than any of us who are starting to have doubt about Wenger.

The pattern of things, the manner of defeats at Arsenal suggest something really wrong going on.
Take Arshavin, he came a very good player and proved it. Can any of Wengers supporter really explain why has he become so ineffective?
The same can be asked of many of players including Walcot. When Wenger fails to correct defensive lapses for more than 3 years – at a point a very old player who once left became useful at Arsenal again and you guys think that suggest improvement? If Cambell could find a place in the cuurent Arsenal then the team is doing very badly.

  50. Carlito11 says:

Sorry Matt- “all the honest, knowledgeable, true Arsenal fans”… You’ve just insulted the large number of lifelong gooners who don’t want Wenger out. Most of us who’ve followed the team for more than 25 years feel the same way- those who are newer to this seem to think it’s all about finishing with a pot but I’d rather be in the Champions League every season with a chance of winning it and the league than a Tinies fan whooping it up over the fizzy cup! Do you know that you sound just like the glory hunting ManUre fans did when old red nose had a poor spell? I have a feeling Wenger will prove you wrong and I really don’t see Martin O’Neil doing a better job though he is a good manager
