   Sorry but this is very poor. If there is 1 thing Wenger does have is balls. Balls to stick with players like Walcott and Song when everybody is slating them. Balls to play 17, 18 year olds in full competition (Fabregas, Wilshere). Balls to sign Overmars and Pires when everybody else wasn’t prepared to gamble because of terrible injuries. He also has the balls to stick to his guns under extreme derision and pressure from people and websites like this who only want to discourage and criticise.

   Wenger’s not perfect, but punches above his weight every year with limited resources.
   The cash flow seriously is not going to improve until 2012/2013 when the Emirates shirt deal expires and new monies can released.

   In fairness, this posting of yours wasnt really over the top this time Sinbad.
   As far as defence is concerned though, I see a conundrum for AW – he wont sell Squillaci so soon, and thats the only way we get the world class defender we need. If we went out and signed Cahill etc. we would have too many defenders next season. Kos in my opinion is well worth keeping, he does seem inconsistent at times, but is young and can look brilliant at reading/interceptions. Djourou has also looked decent.
   The way I see it, if AFC sign a CB, it will either be a veteran or a loan.
   I prefer the notion of a quality defensive midfielder who can cover at CB. We have no cover for Song, so this wouldnt upset the balance of the squad.
   Of course, AW could surprise us all and move Vermaelen to LB and sell Clichy.
   The transfer window isnt closed yet, and just remember Sinbad – whatever anyone says, our squad is stronger than this time last year.
   I think we should remain optimistic.

   I agree 100 percent, what’s wrong with our manager?? Why is he soo tight, I mean it’s so ovious to the hole world what we need, but he just does not do it he just won’t add a liitle bit more to our squad just to see us through, like some cover for song or an extra center back that we crave so much or an animal striker like henry?? It pisses me of so much, look at how much money they take from us fans each and evry season, like pringles for 2 pound 50 and pies for a fiver.. Tickets for over a grand a season, all the over priced merchandise from there countless shops, like 2 pound 50 for a car air freshiner, it’s mad also they can’t even give us fans hot water to wash our hands at the stadium, how can we expect new decent signings, look at the fucking players he goes 4 like samba and Richard dunn..     This is ridiculous. Would you have us spend all our money and go broke like so many big clubs before us? Greatness is measured on more than trophies. Wenger won manager of the decade last week because he competes consistantly at the very top level. We have the best young players in the world and I for one would not like to see overhyped “superstars” come in and ruin it.

    Idiot football fans have brought Kenny Dalgleish back to Liverpool, Kevin Keegan/ Alan Shearer back to Newcastle before that.

    Maybe we should bring George Graham back, tell him to spend all of the money in the club and capitulate like these other team.

    I can’t believe how critical you are of a manager who brought us 2 Doubles and kept us in the Champions League for a decade! Fair dues – Wenger has, even in the last few years – with spending massively curtailed because of the cost of the new stadium – brought in quality players like Vermaelen, Nasri & Arshavin though I would like to see a new CB come in the transfer window. I’ve read of us being linked with Phillipe Mexes which would be a great buy. Our young keepers are maturing nicely and RvP is coming back to his best. We are a genuine title threat, make no mistake.

    A lot of you negative people are going to feel pretty stupid when this team reaches its full potential. This will happen either this year or the next imo. This will amount to exactly the amount of time it took Barca to develop and stock their team and academy, winning no trophies in that 6 years (1999-2005). As it got towards the end of that dry period the fanbase was heavily split. Real Madrid were winning loads with their Galacticos and there was a lot of nasty, negative fans who completely lost faith with the likes of Iniesta, Xavi, Piqet (who was sold), Messi and others. They said that their club was lacking in ambition and was happy to be second fiddle to their bitter enemies R Madrid. After 2005 R Madrid disintegrated pretty much and became a joke while Barca continued, resolutely, with their master plan. They started to reap the fruits of their labour. The money they had been steadily ploughing into the academy/reserves started to bear some serious fruit and the patience they had shown in developing their own players, I think you’ll agree, really paid off. The fact is we have been doing the same but we have had to move home as well. This has hamstrung our attempts to win anything due mainly to the financials. This team is now ready to rise, phoenix-like, from the 5 year, slow smouldering ashes of beloved Highbury.
    I pity you feinthearted fans who only want glory. Are prepared to slag the club if it does not provide. You are indulging in a very self destructive behaviour because when The Arsenal are sitting proud in their state of the art Palace, listening to the world admire our football. And the space after “2005″ in the stadium is filling. You’re attempts at enjoying the glory will be hollowed. Your “Glory Hunting” will have ruined it for you.

    Have to somewhat agree with Sinbad. Lets face it ManU and Chelsea are not longer so ‘great’. If, for example, Wenger had invested invested in two quality CB instead of trying to make ‘diamonds’ from unknown French players or second rate French internationals, we would probably be league leaders. Instead we find ourselves still making the same defensive mistakes.
    He might be saving money but its false economy. If Arsene spent the money and bought the players to support Cesc, Nasari, etc, then revenue from winning the EPL (or advancing in the CL) would offset the money spent.

    Spending £40m in this window would NOT drag us towards bankruptcy, it may well be the springboard to actually winning something. In business you also have to speculate to accumulate, especially when you are in a position of strength. Unfortunately, the glass seems to be half-empty with our board. They just seem so reluctant to dip into funds, just in case we don’t win something with the new players.

    We could win something this season, dare I say it, with a few careful additions, we could win every competition that we are in. That’s how close we really are. And that’s the frustrating thing about it!

    Why not buy 2 CB? We could use different pairings dependent on the opposition. Kos, for instance, looks like he is still adjusting to the Prem, so why not use him in the, less physical, Champs League? Then Samba, Dunne, Cahill or whoever could play in the more physical Prem. Just a thought?

    If the Ramos rumour is true about his wanting to leave Real, we should get straight in with a sensible bid. Sensibly large bid, not £8m! This would show both the fans and the players, that the club is a major force again. He is only 24 so would be a fantastic investment, even at a decent sell on profit if he didn’t settle here and wanted to return to Europe. I’m sure even Cesc would be impressed!

I think we would make do with two or three players this season for us to win the league. lest not forget if Song gets injured there is no quality replacement for him. The problem is, when all your good players are on loan or on the bench losses tend to occur when pitching 16 year olds against grown up proffesional players.     Spot on. If Wenger thinks the present lot of players can carry Arsenal to a trophy,he is deluding himself. The last five years have shown his judgement on players,tactics,ect is open to question.If the gunners fail against Leeds ,it will be one man’s intransigence.

    Having a file of what you need does not guarantee the player is ready to move… i have heard times and again that meterzeker was on our radar but is unwilling to leave Germany which is a better info to have from the beginning even if you are trying to convince him to do so that to have a Reyes type situation when a settled team member becomes home sick and u have to start afresh.     Err…a quite a bit better than us actually.

    Since he left, he’s won the league at Real in 2007, the Portugese League Cup with Benfica in 2009, the UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup and was runner up in the Spanish Cup last season!

    So 4 winners medals and one runners-up medal, which is 5 medals more than all the players who have represented the Arsenal since Reyes’ departure.

    If it was up to you we would have stopped the development of one of the best young goalkeeper in a while in Szcezney. Koscielny is getting better as he is getting use to premier league and English football. Sorry but Wenger bar playing Song (starting), Nasri and RVP against Ipswich that was virtually a full strength team. Stop blaming the manager the players have to take some responsibility.

    for all u fools who are still hanging on to the invincible era wake up wengers never won anything with youngsters none of the players in the invincibles were brought through the academy by wenger(bar cashley but he was there before wenger) he bought a bunch of talented unkowns and molded them into a superteam full credit to him..the current team which is his hand made.. you can see how mentally weak they are falling apart at the slightest pressure and wengers lost his head with his tactics still sticking to a high off side line when clearly neither kos or djourou or squill dont have any recovery pace at all so even the stupidest teams(ipswich) know how to beat us just lug the ball over and eventually they get it right once.. he spends a good amount on kos when he could hav added a little more and got quality all this just to keep down the damn wage bill low…you can see it in the players attitude denilson clichy diaby arshavin they know their manager is gonna back them ,point at the pitch rough opposition the sun moon sky anything but their performance…such mediocrity goes unchecked and u expect the team to win the league …even if they do it ll be because the other teams mess up not because we are the better team…

    WOW , now this is putting it straight , agree , out of a financial point of view , damm the man is a genuis , but i think out of a manager ppoint , he has lost the plot…What he is doing is taking a stone , polishing it up and selling it….never the intentions of turning it into a daimond , aka lost the plot…what growth can u show if it takes u 3 years and more to groom a player in a world class act but only to sell them before they come to form…which will happen to fabs , wilshere , and all the up comming stars….i look at toure , anelka and think , wtf , these okes are still playing damm good , so why did we get rid of them , o , i forgot , he needs to sell them to show a profit before they are too old and the value tumbles , the board on the other hand will do nothing because they reap the benifits of all this monies and sponsors….Yes i agree David Dein was he man , he was the person scouting and setting up the deals…my GOD , all u AW lovers dont see the man is only buying or mostly buying French to strengen the France team , ….no i agree he have to grow balls and buy a exspeirenced player for positions needed …stop trying to make money and give something back to the fans , the people that put their hard earned cash in your hands to win something……let down , we will loose this game againts leeds….promise

    All right everybody calm down. We all would like to sign a new central defender or midfielder. But the facts are the club will not pay even slightly above the odds for a player. Plus do not forget we may have supposedly £50m in the bank but not only the players transfer fee comes out if that but his wages to. So two players costing £10m each may end up costing us £25-£30m. Mr Wenger has done us proud over the years, so wait and see who if anyone we buy and then see how they do on the pitch. If we do not win anything this season then I expect you will see some signings over the summer or even a new manager; but that’s the boards decision not ours. But for all you fans ( I use that word loosely) who are abusive in your comments about the manager and the team I suggest you go and watch west ham or Liverpool who do have major issues and who’s fans have something real to complain about. If you don’t like to do that then cheer on the team and support the players don’t abuse them while they are on the pitch.
