   The point is that this team has been playing together for several years now. This is more than any other team in the league and they are consistently in the top 4. For that reason they should have won the title this year.Man utd and Chelsea are in decline and Man city still haven’t gelled properly yet. However because Wenger refused to address our weaknesses (cb, dm,quality striker) in recent transfer window we have not progressed. His stubborness does not seem likely to change in the near future so we won’t win anything. We are all very frustrated at supporting a feeder club. The fat cats will keep getting fatter and the stars will leave. The board are far too comfortable with Wenger in charge (always getting top 4 with min transfer expenditure). If he were to leave, while we would appear to be shooting ourselves in the foot at least it would force the club to spend money. How many other top managers would accept not being able to buy any big players?

Arsenal have the 4th highest wage bill and are only 18th on the transfer league table… why do you imagine that you deserve a trophy. May be you need to try and grow up and get a more mature view on life. None of us deserve anything… you have no RIGHT to a trophy no matter how much you pay for your ticket.     The Porto manager is class and would easily change our frustrating style of play. I also think that David Moyes of Everton has done wonders on a shoestring budget.

    As far as the players here is my opinion.

    OUT: Almunia, Mannone, Fabianski, Eboue, Clichy,Squillachi, Diaby, Denilson, Fabregas, Rosicky, Bendtner,Arshavin and Chamakh. 100 million from these sales + 40 million on budget for transfers = 140 million to spend on players.

    IN: Given or Neur, Cahill, Vertoghen, Baines, Ilner, MVilla, Hazard, Rodwell, Benzema, Hulk, Falcao, or Rodallegha. We need English defenders and heart. Creative and Large boddies in midfield and Latino intelligence and speed in the offense.

    Just because you didn’t know who Wenger was 1996 didn’t mean that he was unknown. Don’t assume that the insularity of English football fans is universal. Wenger had already won the French Championship with Monaco in a situation where tapie and Marseilles was buying matches, taken them to an ECL semi, something that Arsenal had never done at that time… and was refused permission by Monaco to talk to Bayern munich, Yes the Bayern Munich… then Monaco sacked him. he went japan and won with grampus 8 and then he came to us. Wenger was a top notch manager when we got him and it is because of his broad mind that he took the job. BTW Wenger is also the man that George Weah called up unto the stage when he won his FiFA world player of the year award… everyone in football apart from the muppets in the insular British press knew of Wenger.

    You may not have known him but that’s on you. You people crack me up… you think that Arsenal are a really big club who have cemented a top 4 position something that was beyond even Liverpool and now you take it for granted.     the day david dein walked out on arsenal was the most important one in wengers time at arsenal. its like the clough and taylor partnership. wenger without doubt is a great manager and we still have some amazing players in this team. but what annoys the fans is the fact that with 3 to 4 quality signings and this could be a great team. nobody wants wenger to go out and spend millions on overrated players like man utd , spurs etc have done. we were spoiled a few yrs ago, the teams with viera petit henry bergkamp overmars,lungberg etc those teams where out of this world and nobody in football at present comes close to those players, you cant buy players like these anymore they are not out there and thats a fact, as football in terms of talent is in a huge decline, but there has to be better players than some of the shite we now have at the club. if only we could get dein to come back, he would provide the money to wenger and more importantly he would force him to spend it on quality and not to opt for the cheap talentless gutless faggots that wenger has had such a fondness for in the last couple yrs. this title was there for the taking man utd are complete and utter shite but they have alot of luck on their side and a the refs in their pocket. but even if wenger had to change his tactics, cut out the passing and get more direct we still would have won it, and with a few important signings we would have won by a mile. well heres to next yr hope its not groundhog day all over again. mr dein get your fucking self back to arsenal this summer please.

    I do take your point and agree with your disgust at the outcome of this season but I think it is just too short sighted to sack Wenger. The winning styles of Chelsea and Man U are juggernaut through seasons, and this style of winning (grinding out results) by the team in form is habitual and hard to replicate in a team so young and, ultimately, cheap.

    I firmly believe that the fundamental difference between Man U, Chelsea and us is, not just the money, but in fact the experience they have in their team. No doubt John Terry is an idiot. I’ll put that one out right there. But in the eyes of ambitious young footballers, the image of John Terry is probably admirable. A multi-millionaire playing regularly for Chelsea and England, on the front page of every football gossip column. Also, I’ll say the same for the golden oldies of Scholes and Giggs. I don’t like Scholes as such either, not least due to his leg-breaking rampage against Arsenal in the FA.

    Yet, these players don’t really have to do much but just be there. Look at the players thriving in their teams now… its usually the younger ones. Its the same with ours. The problem with us is that our ‘seniors’ or ‘oldies’ have never won trophies and are about 23. I firmly firmly believe that we simply need 2 or 3 good experienced players to just calm the players down.

    Now you say Wenger is myopic in his ethos. A fact well established. Though he’s not against this concept. Look at Jens, and Sol – surprised imports in the past year, and even Sebastian Squidword was probably brought in for his experience (I fail to why for what else)…

    Arsenal are about the evolution, not the revolution of principles. Obviously here Arsenal haven’t evolved. But I firmly believe Wenger can – the club needs to get rid of the players who have so clearly fallen short this year and replace them with a few big money signings. We’re not talking about breaking the bank, or Arsenal business ethos, but just enough to make amends for the fact that our team just does not have the same quality as the title winners when it comes out to ‘getting a result’ when the chips are down, however possible.

    In other words, with such a painstakingly obvious tragedy of a season, can Wenger evolve? — Of course he can. Though I think the fans should be vocal through the transfer season – rock the boat to steady it.

    And on another note: next time Chamakh gets the ball in the box, lets all be prepared to scream shoot before the ball gets to him!

    Bolton were better than us-they just were-and I am not surprised we lost. Over the season we are about the level of Spurs or just a tad worse.Why do we expect to win anything? I dont believe it is about any one player-we are lacking-the whole system does not work. Playing this way, the team is burnt out every season 2/3rds of the way through, the players have to work too hard to get a basic win. English football, the refs and even our own fans are not the problem-we are the problem-trying to be a French team in the EPL. We are still trying to play the way we were five years ago-other teams have overtaken and are better than us now. I’m talking about Bolton and Birmingham and Stoke. We lost the Carling Cup because Birmingham beat us. Face it stop making excuses. Stop dreaming. Arsene has had his day-it doesnt work-it only worked when we had English central defenders.
    Arsenal need a real coach- not a philosopher-who can start by coaching the team how to defend, how to tackle. We have too many luxury players and some of these must go. We also need to compete in the transfer market.

    I am looking at the article and at fans responses here and I think there are pros and cons to all the arguments here. To be frank we have not deserved to win anything as we have not been good enough; and before anyone says “look at the football we play”, I will say its goals in the back of the net and games won that win trophies. We are a team that has no spirit, desire or passion to win. The spirit crumbles when we come under pressure. This is down to the way we play and the quality of the players. We have players who are not good enough and players that are good enough but need experienced players around them to learn from. This is down to the manager and coaches. Tactically Wenger is weak as he won’t change his game plan; coaching he is week as we do not appear to have coaches who are strong enough to stand unto Wenger and tell him what’s wrong. Wenger gas tried this experiment before in Monaco with young hone grown players. As commented in a response above he was sacked. Thus was because Monaco went down the league and did not win anything. We are currently doing the same. If Wenger can see the errors of his ways or be man enough to be shown them and correct them then he should be given a chance to. If he won’t then nice him upstairs and bring in someone who can take us forward. Before you ask who, I am not sure as I do not know enough of managers in world football.

    There is one thing you have right at least we have one of the biggest wage bills in the league and these players who are happy to take their 60 – 120 thousand pounds a week and play like they did on Sunday is an utter disgrace.

    We all know how good this team can be, if every player tried to reach his potential and worked hard for the club and manager who pays their wages and gives them the opportunity to develop at the highest level and how did certain players repay their faith by drawing 9 winning 2 and losing 1 in a run in, in which seemingly the title was ours to claim. if this team works hard together we are better than Barcelona as we showed at home this year in a total football display strong in defence lethal on attack.

    But i feel there is petulance in the ranks the likes of Nasri and that waste of space left back holding out on contracts supposedly for bigger wages than they actually deserve. And players half heartedly strolling around the pitch with no urgency i.e Cesc Fabregas, Nasri, Clichy, Song and Arshavin. In my opinion get rid of the players who dont want to be here and bring some players in who will fight for the arsenal cause.

    One thing with Manchester United they may be shit and on a our day at our best we would pulverize them into mediocrity, all 11 what ever 11 players AF plays are willing to fight for the cause when they are not in possession the play the football and get the job done when they get the ball. A few of our players don’t have this attitude and have become like fat lazy politicians who take take take bit never give back an that my friends is what has lost the title NOT WENGER!

    1. Put it into context we cant pay 17- 25 million a time three times a year for a player so Wenger gets players just as good for less.

We play the right style of football which we can beat any team in the league and cannot be matched by Chelsea spurs man city or man u BUT the players efforts to defend and help out our defence is the problem. Midfield players are not willing to defend as a team pressing the opposition constantly into mistakes which Barca and spain do so well, This team have been instructed to do this trust me but a few of the players wont and if even 1 player decides not to then the entire team suffer.

    3. We need Wenger but we need to either sort out some of the players attitudes or sell them on and replace them with players who have a high skill level but more tenacity to allow arsenes game plans and tatics to work.

    These boys need to look in the mirror and say did i do enough to deserve to win anything and for 10 players at arsenal that answer is NO and that my fellow gooners is not good enough

    I give up hoping for title since last season, but still love to watch the way arsenal play. ask me how did I do it???

    and Breathe…. Right yeah its frustrating and there some obvious errors within those games defensively we need to figure out, would i get rid of Wenger still? No way i don’t think there would be many managers who could best him, regardless of what every football manager obsessed fan wants to say. It’s close so, can we support the team becasue this negativity is one of the very reasons our team have struggled.

    We can’t say Wenger has told them to over play or that he wanted Nasri to miss that one on one, becasue i doubt he has , that is to do with the confidence of the team and something that would help would be to get behind them at home. when we’re more aggressive, when our players don’t over think that is when we are at our best. We’re an attacking team our best form of defense is attack and that hasn’t happened ( goal wise), wenger is too hard on himself and that is the problem. alot of these players take self pity on themselves and with all thats gone on it is understandable why they haven’t got the focus or mentality to close out games now. Being a supporter is to cheer for your team when their down and out when things aren’t going right, keep this negativity away from the ground and the players it is doing no one any good.

    Our crappy, terrible squad managed a cup final, 3rd (atm) in the league, and was knocked out of the CL by the best team in the world. Its simply obvious that we dont need major change – we are already close.
    In my opinion, a top notch experienced keeper along with a commanding centre half would make a huge difference to our squad. Those 2 changes would increase our tally of points hugely. Rather than selling 10/15 players, replacing them and familiarising them with our ethos.
    Im as disappointed as anyone, but some of the comments are just poisonous and stupid.
    Wenger should most certainly not go – judging from his comments yesterday he is acutely aware of the problems we have, and he is the person to put it right. Give him some proper money for a change, and give him the chance to finish his squad.
    The truth about our finances will come out one day, and some of you are going to be pretty ashamed – we have been operating on a shoestring budget since we moved to the Emirates. Wenger has been aware of this, and has taken a crazy amount of abuse for it.
    Heres hoping that the new owner gives him a decent amount of money, and tells the truth about our financial state. Wenger has been carrying the can for too long.
    You dont build a stadium and expect to sign world class players with the change.
    Wake up and grow up.
    And as for the “supporters” at the home games – you expect the players to produce week-in week-out….but you arent doing your job either. The place is like a morgue, our home support is a joke.
    Its clear that its not just the squad thats lacking maturity.

    p.s. When our manager openly states that “success is doing the best with what you have” and you
    still fail to read between the lines, there really isnt much hope for you.

    I’m on a blog-wide campaign telling Gooners to give up their cable football tv subscription and stop wasting money to go to games. Arsenal are only worth viewing on free streaming. Do the right thing and save yourself the money, just like Wenger would have done if he was a paying fan. Besides, who is Arsenal kidding when they claim they are playing out-of-this-world football? Only Barca can make that claim and Arsenal is a very very poor-man’s Barca for that matter. Their matches have been the most boring and so one-dimensional that you will be forgiven if you think you are watching repeats. And the worst part is Gooners are getting mugged worldwide watching repeats. Be a man, do the right thing. Like Wenger would have.

    We have been commiting the exact same mistakes, and he has done nothing. Our bad defense was there in 06/07, and we haven’t improved on that yet. We have been unable to go through tight defenses for a long time, yet we still blame our lack of sharpness… Don’t make me laugh that Wenger will change now – why now?

    In answer to some of the “scare mongers” and Arsene lovers I would say and remind them of the following;
    1. Yes wenger had already won the French championship, but what you fail to mention is that he once again built on what was already at the club…..THEN he was sacked by them after selling off all the stars and building a side of basically young hopefulls which resulted in the side dropping out of contention for the league for 3 years….Sound familiar?????
    2. Wenger has made excuse after excuse, season after season, He has made countess bad buys especially defenders (a fact that gets forgotten),
    3. He is becoming an embarrassment with his touchline tantrums
    4. He has also called this side the best he has had in his 14 years?????? What an insult to the sides of 1998/2000/2004…..they would beat the crap out of this gutless bunch.

    Yes credit must be given to him for building on what was already a pretty good side in 1996, but he is not as good as is made out – as is being shown game after game, trophyless season after trophyless season.

    The football now is Euro possession which personally I find tedious at times – it’s not like the incisive free flowing attacking play we had up to 2004 when we killed teams with pace skill and goals – a lot which came from quick 4/5 pass movements. The question comes did he make the change in style solely to accomodate Cesc ??? When you look that seems to have been the catalyst.

    The scare mongers want us to believe that we should be happy with what we have because life without Wenger is unthinkable…..but hey we took him on when he had no experience in the EPL and it worked well for 7 years, why then can’t it happen again???

    One day he has to go you know, and to be honest I would prefer him to go now while he still has a good reputation rather than fail /fall even further and loose some of that respect!

    Finally, yes I know we are not Real Madrid, but we are not a Liverpool, we are a club with a history of being at the top of the English game for almost 100years (Top division since 1919 for those of you who don’t know) and the day we sit back and accept 2nd as being the best we can achieve then that will be the day we will put ourselves in the same category as the lot from White Shite Lane! I hope the Board have the guts to do something now!

    Getting rid of Wenger is not the answer, instead the team need to work on shape, defending/pressing as a team and the set piece. A new number 2 with some balls and his own ideas would do the job nicely, look at man utd where Fergie gets in a new assistant every couple of years who takes training sessions and contributes new ideas. For example Carlos Queiros (spelling?) is the reason they have/had Ronaldo, Nani, Anderson, etc. We need some more variety in approach and players who can play in a variety of systems, it is all well and good to have players brought up through the academy but if they are unable to approach the game in different ways then some outside players would give a different edge.

    Combine this with some more commitment from the directors, forcing Wenger to take a risk on a player or two and we are half way there.

    Watching the game yesterday you can see that there are no plans for corners, no orchestration, two players should be running together to confuse the opposing defence, none of this happens which leads me to believe there are no plans. The same applies at throw-ins, does anyone else get frustrated at the inability to secure the ball with no players moving around to create space.

    Overall there is not too much wrong with the team, if they had taken one or two of the chances we would not be having this discussion. That is the fine line in football and if anyone thinks that you can sell 10 players and buy 10 players in one close season and expect the team to gel is living in cloud cuckoo land.

    Now everyone is entitled to their opinion on whether Arsene should go or not… but considering what the man has done for the club (and those of you that want to claim that two doubles and an unbeaten season were pure luck are talking out of your arse’s) he at least deserves a bit more respect in the way to talk about him. So fair enough come up with your justifications for the need for a change but have some respect for a man that has stuck to his work and treated the club with honour. Remember when Madrid/Inter/Barcelona/every team in Europe wanted him he stood by us…

    What the AKB have never been able to explain satisfactorily is how a manager they believe to be infallible who discovered and nurtured some of the best attacking players Arsenal have ever has also introduced and played some of our worst ever defenders. For every Henry and Pires there has been an Almunia or Cygan or Silvestre or Squillacci or Senderos or Steppenoffs. Quite simply if his judgement is so good why are they so bad?
    Poor defending and mistakes lose games and yesterday was another example if we ever needed it.

Community sheild aren’t are thropies so since aresne has been here he has won 7 trophies… The back four of tony adams, martin kewon, lee dixon and jeff winterburn left by 2002… they won 4 trophies since then when wenger was inchange… so arsene has only won 3 trophies with his squad the incredibly brought together invicibles (thank you aresne for them). they won the double and a fa cup we won on penaties… Aresne is not the great champion we all think he has been… and ‘his’ defence has been the worst in arsenal history.

    @mabsyou are spot on mate… no one wants us broke but spending 30 million on a new center back, defensive midfilders and stikers, whilst selling deadwood that you mentioned plus densilon we would be making a profit and opening up space for younger english players like JET and henri landsbury..

    i don’t want aresne out but i want him to change but he won’t. So what the hell are going to do? wait until he retires to maybe win a trophy? 2015 here we come to fail again.

    @goonerdave i don’t want arsene out and i think no one really does but things have to change.. but by getting rid of the players i have mentioned you open room for players like henri lansbury, JET, craig eastmound, gibbs, tom cruise, henderson and many other youth players who can be good fringe players as you said. Your right when you say we need to really know what the economic problem is, if we have one, at arsenal. but if they keep they we are making money while the bond on our loan is being paid at normal fixed rates then why should we say, “were in truble the biggest debt this world has ever seen, we can’t buy players,” or whatever? 25 million on a center back and a defensive midfilder is not too much esspically with the economic crisis in greek, italy and portugal we can get a good deal.

    You know when me and my mates go watch arsenal we are pretty loud and do you know what we get for it? Abuse from older supporters and bussinessmen telling us to sit down cause they can’t see or shut up cause they can’t hear the ball moving. I argee with you it is dead and supporters in high teirs boo their own players like denislon and bedthner. Remember eboue? that was fucking disgrace man… but were two people… we can never change the pricing of the tickets.. it will only attract older men and bussinessmen… i spent 300 pounds to watch a spurs game! and we were the only wons supporting the team in my section!

    but the money we supporters spend and the supporters that put money into the club need to be repayed… This team lacks mental strenght, emotion and passion as well as raw grit. We need changes. you can’t deny this?
