[Ratings] 1-0 Great win but poor show. We need signings

Arsenal   1 - 0   Udinese

Magic-less win slender victory over Udinese tonight but it showed that this team needs signing.

No spark or playmaker on the pitch and with players dropping and picking up injuries, we are almost down to barebones and the season is only 2 games old.

We got lucky big time tonight, and Arsene NOW has to go out and spend on the quality players we need. The warning signs are loud and clear. We need 2/3 player to turn this team into a special team … The players on the pitch did there job tonight and credit to them. But I have to be honest, we miss Cesc and Nasri BIG TIME!!…Over to you Arsene!…SPEND!

Ratings

Szczesny 8.5 : Had a busy night and made 2 fantastic saves. 2 games 2 clean sheets for our new number 1 and looks the real deal! { Man of the match }

Sagna 6.5 : Poor going forward and was defensively all over the place tonight.

Koscielny 7.0 : Pretty solid apart from the 91min with a moment of madness that could of got nasty!

Vermaelen 7.5 : So good to have him back. The leader on the pitch and showed just what we have been missing.

Gibbs 7.0 : Played well by taken off at H/T with a hamstring injury

Song 7.5 : Solid and made some great blocks, But his passing was poor and gave the ball away in the 2nd half.

Ramsey 8.0 : Set up the goal and put Theo in again in the 2nd half, Played well but tied towards the end.

Walcott 8.5 : Finished well after 3mins, Was busy and direct all night and maybe should of had 2 more goals.

Rosicky 5.0 : Not a Cesc or a Nasri, Didnt have the magic or the killer pass and came off towards the end and looked in pain.

Gervinho 8.0 : Impressive and ran his heart out. Put Theo in towards the end with a great pass and looked dangerous.

Chamakh 2.5 :  What a player!! Very similar to agueros performance last night {joke}..Looked lazy, poor touch and didnt even look like scoring. So poor it was a joke. Needs to be loaned out or sold because on this show he is not good enough to wear the shirt. But when was his last decent game or goal?

Subs
Djourou N/A : Came on and replaced Gibbs at H/T and lasted 9mins before picking up and knock. He did made 1 great tackle.

Jenkinson  7.0 : Played LB and looked “ok” Did his job well and nothing flash, looks big and strong and good pace

Frimpong 7.5 : I like him. Powerful and got pace, I think we might see more of this lad this season.

  1. Stig says:

I have to strongly disagree with your rating of Sagna, Chamakh and Song.
Song lost crucial balls that led to counter attacks several times, and wasnt at his best.

Chamakh had a quite decent first half, pulling deep to make space for Walcott and Gervinho to run in behind.

Sagna is tied with Szczesny as MOTM for me. Great defending as always.

  2. KHM says:

Am I the only one who sees this as a horrific performance. The midfield was non-existing for big parts of the game. It got better when Frimpong got on the pitch. But I think Ramsey and Rosicky had a poor poor(inset more) game.

In conclusion Chamakh, Ramsey and Rosicky were way off, and were very lucky that Udinese werent any sharper today, or this tie would have been out of our hands..

  3. bt62 Gooner says:

Think your a bit over the top with your ratings Song 7.5 slow and sloopy like all the rest big investment needed now!

  4. Harry says:

You will deffo see more of frimpong lmao, because we will sign no one.

I do not know to laugh or cry!

never mind the board will have 55 million to spend soon!

  5. nick says:

gervinho 8 was i watching a different game…every or most passes the guy made where bloody awful

is he the real super quality wenger keeps harping on about…cause if he is i’m worried

  6. Doublegooner says:

    FFS

How do you get those ratings ??

Did you pick a number & double them ?

Only Chesney came out with any credit.

    We were clueless, leaderless woeful.

We need more than 2 or 3 players. We need about 8 plus a new strict manager to plan the future

  7. nick barton says:

i never did think i would say this but wenger needs to go…we are becoming a laughing stock…

so sad at the moment thinking of the state we are in…i dont even think we will get a result away and play like that again and we are out

    they aint no mugs

  8. kidd says:

dd u really watched e game 2nite ,ramesy 8? Jakinson 7?.i agree with u on vermalean n’ seccny they were immense 2nite,sagna was solid as well.our midfield was disjointed ,we missed jack n’ cesc bigtym neither ramesey nor rosicky is able 2 control the midfield.ramesy lacks the final pass n’ vision .i dont know why diaby get a lot of stick wn hez fit hez far much beta than ramsy n’ rosicky,he dominates in midfield.Gervinho nid 2 work on his delivery, gibbs is good as a back up

  9. Tsusima says:

Really poor show. Would not be surprised if Wenger comes out and comment either “another decent display” or Udinese defend solidly again. This current team is as good as Arsenal 1997-1998′ substitution and will soon find themselves knocked out off Champion League. EPL out of top 4 here we come.

  10. Deshola says:

Some people are so naive in their thinking that they dont see anything good about arsenal team. A game just a day after captain of the team jump ship to Barcelona. Atleaset these guys deserve kudos, they shown the character and commitment for the entire ninety minutes….weldone boys

  11. Domhuaille says:

A bit generous but Song was solid and while making some bad passes, did recover and controlled the defensive midfield well. Szcesny was phenomenal…stood up and faced two attacking players, saved a free kick that was going in and controlled his box veru well again. Our defense was attacking all night and I can’t count the number of times Gibbs or Sagna were up in the opponents area looking to score. they got caught a few times on the fast counter-attack but Kos and song handled it well. Ramsey and Rosicky need to step up their game and especially Aaron as he had way too many giveaways. Chamakh looked lost out there but he is trying, considering that he never gets a game. Gervinho was uo and down the field defending when needed and attacking all the time. His close ball control and timing are off but that will improve.
Now for you sour-cunts,whining and moaning like KHM (yes you cretin you are the only one),Doublegooner douchebag, and Nick the nickotine, you’ll never be satisfied…..go hide under the stands at the Emirates until you lot grow up and learn to watch a match without hate!

  12. frankie frankie says:

We were so lucky not to lose this match by 2 or 3 goals. I’m sorry buut i dont agree with your rating for Kos. I thought he was bloody rubbish. Gave the ball away and a couple of free kicks away in crucial areas and over hit ever pass over the top. Rosicky sould get a 3. Poor yet again. Dont see how wenger can justify playing him other than the fact than Fabs gone and Nasri suspended although wouldnt have played due to not wanting to be cup tied. I only hope we bring in another creator because 1 goal in his last 80 odd games is not the sign of a creative midfielder for me. And now, Could someone explain what kinda of player Chamakh is with out using the words Striker, Forward or Attacker because he is none of those if you ask me. He his the most inaffective goal threat i have ever seen in an arsenal shirt and dont forget Kaba Diawara played for us. I supported the signing of Chamkh for a long time as i used to watch him in the french league in his early days at Bordeaux. I alays knew his goals scoring record wasn’t great but it was his play outside the box which was pretty good. but since christmas he has been a turkey (no pun intended). Wenger trying to sell Bendtner? i think he is selling the wrong striker.

  13. Sarge says:

Gervinho reminded me of Chris Kiwoyma! Loads of enthusiasm but no product. We are looking at a performance that looked 94/95 despite the win. We need some real talent to put us in contention not this sorry bunch of wannabes and don’t have it’s. This is Arsenal let’s behave like a big club

  14. Dobbi says:

Please do not call yourselves Arsenal supporters because you are not. Leave and never ever come back, nobody wants you.

  15. Dunno! says:

some people just buy into the media bullshit, considering that some of our best players weren’t in the team (RVP, Wilshire) and we just recently lost our two best midfielders and this team has just been scrapped together then i think winning against a side as strong as Udinese is a really good achievement, and seriously people need to open up and start watching the game with no bias, there are some people who see everything in a negative light and then there are some who see evryhting in a positive light, people need to see things for what they are and not what they are told to be and not what they want them to be.

p.s Whatever happens we always need to be behind this team if your not intrested in SUPPORTING (not moaning or complaining) Arsenal through the thick aswell as the thin then you can piss off.

    GUNNER 4 LIFE!

  16. Ishola hedayat says:

Haa haa,Mr wenger why can’t u spend dis money, pls now i can’t support any othher clubs dan Arsenal or do u want other fans to say sorry 2 Gunners 1oce more.pls spend 4 d fans sake

  17. mabs says:

I think your a bit hyperbole with the ratings mate for negative and poistive reasons. We need players of class in thats for sure, but guess what? Its not going to happen for so many reasons but mainly cause we don’t have any money despite Cesc’s sale. That money will pay off the stadium just like Toure and Abeybyors money did. This is our team. Final team. This is the best it will be. Get over it. Just get behind them, hope for 5th and hope we beat Udinese (tough esspcially away were they score atleast 3 goals on average) and get into the CL. I know most ‘fans’ think coming 4th and getting to the quater finals of the CL every season is great and winning in a sense, but it isn’t lol. Everyone hates Mournhio because he plays ‘anti-football’? When did defending against the greatest team to play football constitue as anti football? Defending is just as artistic as attacking and even more diffcuilt consodering you play without the ball. Anyway He wins, everywhere he goes the guy wins. He will proably win La Liga this year. I’m a betting man and I would advise that bet. But this season you will be right. If we come 4th and are in the CL QF then will would have won alot more then I hoped for. But Its not winning. Its lowering your expectation of a now mediacore feeder team. I this isn;t the media who have influnced me, i mean other the daily mail and the sun who actually publishers biased articles? Good Luck Wenger, you don’t deserve all the criticism but I still hope its your last season.

  18. theo says:

when man united play shit and grind out a 1-0 win, people give them credit. when we do that, we are crap, lucky and we need 8 new players. i mean seriously we didnt play well today but we won and kept a clean sheet and hopefully we will qualify so theres no reason to be totally pessimistic. i can understand the concern coz its obvious we need a few more players, but the lest we can do is support the tam in such a difficult and crucial period. im pretty sure when wilshere and vanpersie are back, were gonna play much better

  19. Joe Black says:

Your average team rating of ~7 (6.96) seems rather opposite of even your own (and certainly most other) reviews of Arsenal’s performance tonight. A little generous overall, me thinks!

  20. Nicolas says:

Disagree with many of your ratings. Sagna played very well, was defensively solid and calm throughout the match imo, probably 2nd motm for me. Altho generally I think the ratings are too high. Aaron laid the pass for the goal but he didnt do much of use after that. Gervinho was decent but he lacked the final ball or finish at many times. And I think Jenkinson looked very insecure eveytime he had the ball or had to make a tackle. But after all we have started the season with 2 clean sheets. We obviously do still need some new players tho.

  21. Bullett says:

Arsene Wegner and Gazidis must get GUN SHOT, THEY ARE TWO BIG PUSSY HOLE

  22. hiy says:

    perfect ratings.
this gervinho lad is going to be a great signing.
and yes chamakh must seriously be the worst player to have ever worn an arsenal shirt.

  23. piken79 says:

SAGNA was MOTM..not sure which game you saw but he was actually very good. Rosicky was poor and so was Chamachk. I wish he was leaving, at this point I will take Bendtner over him

  24. Mannersj says:

Chamakh no longer exists in my mind, anytime he is on the teamsheet, I will assume we are playing with 10 men. When was it he last scored?November? No effort, can’t pass, scared to shoot, it’s as if he thinks his leg will fall off. The keeper was good, Gervinho for his effort gets some praise, good to see someone who WANTS to play wide rather than being shunted out there, end product like Newcastle was awful though.

Vermaelen was very good, jesus we need this guy fit, and at centre back, but Wenger has effectively ensured he will spend a lot of time at left back. Gibbs is injury prone, we all know this, leaving Traore to be our left back? Do me a favour. Even Wenger can see Traore is not the answer, which begs the question why hasn’t he bought a decent left back, even as cover, Armand is the quintessential headless chicken. Hopefully Jack is back at the weekend, but that will be nullified by the suspensions we have. Frimpong instead of Song will be a disaster. This guy just wants to take out anything that moves

  25. ne says:

i think pulis will be admiring frimpong by now…..no offense, i would like to see him running riot in stoke game. I like these guy, tough and powerful.

  26. realist says:

what did udinese really create, reading the paper today you would have thought they had 20 clean cut chances. 1st half they clipped the crossbar with a free, clipped the outside of the post with a shot sceezney had covered anyways and the one where num 27 ran the length of the pitch and probaly should have scored that was woeful on arsenals part. 2nd half they had fuck all but a few off target shots from distance. arsenal where by far the better team there final ball again was a bit of a disaster gervinho and walcott do all the hard work they have the pace to go around defenders but their final ball our shot is below poor something wenger should make both work on hard and improve. a better final ball on those occasions last nite and we could have been easy 3 up in the 1st half. the only chances udinese created was from our sloopy passing something we need to work on too. all in all it wasnt bad performance we were missing 2 of our best wilshere and rvp also arshavin was missing. was nice to see u go back to a more direct style was a well workied goal little dink over the top good 1st ball in by ramsey and bang 1 up. wenger does ned to by though far 2 many injury prone players 2 defenders and a striker are badly needed. and if we even got that alone we would win the league. arsenal look like they are going to start getting more direct and use walcott and gervinhos pace to get behind defences. so good riddance to tippy tappy football and thank fuck back to the arsenal of old moving the ball much faster and much more direct.

  27. bob mcnabs cat says:

Chambolikh was shit and has been since last november, no point in defending the defenceless, he came on a freebie and its obvious why!
Rosicky and koncielny shouldnt even be on the pitch they are useless and incapeable of stringing a pass together. Lets not sit on the fence but that performance was woeful, there was no creativity and we spent most of the match running round like headless chickens. Does anyone honestly think this bunch are capeable of finishing in the top 6 let alone qualify for the latter stages of the champs lge.
What has happened to the short passing, flowing football that practically every pundit and football journo used to talk about? Id rather win fuck all playing that brand than winning fuck all playing like we did las night. We really were poor and god only knows how we escaped with a clean sheet.
There is a cancer at the club and i fear that it is going to be impossible to cure until we start to take drastic action like a root and branch clear out of the board and management.
The policy we are following isnt and hasnt worked for the past six years.
In our present form we will never win another trophy….fact!

  28. tufnell pk 76 says:

    Well sed bob,

dunno bout 7.5 for kossie, are you on drugs???
he is a liability who passes to the opposition more than he passes to his mates!
playin rosicky smacks of desperation, this is the worst team since wenger took charge. last nights empty seeats are a sign of things to come.
