Arsenal Fans ’Board’ of the same old story

Fans everywhere are absolutely fuming about the Van Persie situation. Regardless of whether we thought he was staying or going we are all so annoyed that it has been allowed to happen again. When I look at all the great players we have let go over the years and all the (excuse the language) shit that we have brought in to replace them (Arteta excused) it makes me mad too. When did we lose sight of football and make this about money?

We have a Board at Arsenal that has a certain philosophy and I respect that, it’s always good to have a plan and ambition to aid a club to be well financed and stay within their means. But if you are sacrificing certain aspects of a football team to make money then something is going wrong. We shouldn’t be in this situation and something has to change. Gazidis spoke a lot about the Arsenal business model at the AST meeting and he spoke with passion about the fact that they plan for Arsenal to be a self sufficient club, but we as fans are getting frustrated with having to watch our team play badly and lose matches because we don’t have enough decent or experienced players.

I don’t claim to be of a business mind but I believe these factors are losing Arsenal money

· not competing to win trophies

· Keeping underperforming players on high wages

· Not getting the right Sponsorship deals

The business model of Arsenal is too corporate; they are losing the sight of what it really means to be a Gunner. We have a board that are more content with lining their pockets than supporting a club and making it about football. Is Kroenke the reason for this?-Yes probably but I also think this it’s Gazidis and Peter Hill-Wood too. I miss David Dein, when he and Wenger combined their minds we ended up with the likes of Henry, Petit, Overmars and Vieira. Since Dein was forced out Hill-Wood has fallen apart and made some bad decisions. They need to realise the business model is not working and we are fed up. Time to re- think their strategy.

In this process, we’ve hamstrung our title chances and today if you went to a bookmarker like and asked for Arsenal’s title odds you’d be laughed off. Since when did Arsenal automatically accept that they weren’t good enough to challenge for the title any more? Since when did Champions League qualification – an important financial milestone – become the main goal each season?

Usmanov has also entered into publicly declaring that he is unhappy with the situation at Arsenal and expresses deep reservations at their business model. He talks about Van Persie’s situation stating “Yet again we are faced with losing our true marquee player at the club because we cannot assure him of the future direction and give confidence that we can win trophies. Where are the safeguards to ensure that this doesn’t happen again and again in the future?” He also discusses other issues that they have regarding the current situation at AFC.

I’ve never been of the mind of throwing money at a club but in this modern day and with our team in this state then I think we could do with investment so we are competing for the league and Europe trophies. Otherwise we Arsenal fans are to then expect to be positioned lower in the league every year but paying premium prices and I can assure you that the fans will not tolerate this for long. We have someone like Usmanov who is WILLING to invest and keep the passion and winning alive but he is not even able to negotiate or even communicate with the board about taking over. I’m not saying that he is the best person but it’s someone different from what we have now and it could work for the better. Why can’t we as fans vote for who we want in charge?

As for Wenger I’m not really sure how I feel about him right now. In the last year I’ve been on the fence on my opinion about him; swaying between pro and against him. I admire his nurture the youth thinking but it’s not getting us anywhere when these youngsters get sold or loaned. I don’t know that Wenger is to blame for RVP leaving; I can imagine that he is the one that was begging him to stay. How much control does he really have if the board are pulling all the strings in regards to money? If he is of the same opinion as the board then he should join them and let a new manager come in because it is clear that it’s money and not football with him anymore. Do we just need a fresh view anyway in regards to the team?

We have the highest ticket prices in the Premiership and Arsenal are lucky that they have fans that love the team and game so much that they will pay these prices, but I think they might find that we are going to be less happy about this now we are losing one of our best players again. We’ve been in this situation a few times now and enough is enough.

I’m a Gooner through the good times, the bad times and the really bad times but I signed up to support Arsenal F.C not a corporation or business. I don’t mind either but don’t let our team and their football suffer. We want our club back. Is it time the fans got together and revolt and get our club back ourselves? We need to all state what we want and at least try. I don’t think there is a happy Gooner at the moment and I don’t think we will be happy unless something changes and soon. The club motto is “Victoria Concordia Crescit” but there just doesn’t seem to be much victory through harmony right now.

I think its about time wenger gets the sack, he’s not doing it for the club, or making the right decisions to keep the club one of the best clubs in the world.

Sounds like “Sinbad” has just got back from his holidays. Things ARE changing. We are signing more experienced players and clearing out Project Youth. Wenger and Ferguson will both retire the same year as far as I understand and both are lining up teams for their swan-songs. RVP changed his mind when he realised he’d made a faux pas about the direction Wenger was moving in but by then the chain of trust was broken. So it goes, no player should be bigger than the club….

As for Usmanov don’t believe a word, he’s only in it for the money, his money i.e…..Business.

So you think the club should pay whatever preposterous wage demand these average players make. Arsenal don’t go and pay stupid money for so called big players we have always turn average players into great players. So you really think RVP left because Arsenal has no footballing ambitions? Whose fault is it that Arsenal hasn’t won on trophies? You don’t think that the very same players who complain they haven’t won anything are the only ones who are to blame for that?

I stopped reading when you started championing Uzmanov.

If you really want this guy in charge of our club (read around about him) then your no true gooner. Sorry, but that’s true.

Kronke isn’t ideal, but he’s what we’ve got. I’d much rather have him than the Uzbek.

‘I don’t claim to be of a business mind’ should read ‘I don’t claim to be of sound mind’.
(excuse the language) shit blog shit views far removed from reality. At least give us an example of another Premier League club who has a successful model that are realistically competing in this enviroment, and even in our circumstances, better then we are.

The board does whatever Wenger tells them to, that’s why there’s no ambition – not because the board has no ambition. The problem is they’re inexperienced and afraid to cut Wenger loose. Kroenke doesn’t care about anything, as in a few years he can make a fortune selling Arsenal. Kroenke would probably act different if Dein was on the board – but whatever happens it’s Wenger who is to blame. He instructs on contracts, so if they run down it’s his fault – based on his decisions. Arsenal is not a normal football club, Wenger runs everything.

well done! well done ! best bloody article i have read about arsenal for ages

i have supported arsenal for over 40 years so i can understand bad times but i cannot understand when a club deliberately makes itself weaker for money when it is already in profit.

every transfer we have made for the last 7 years has been about money first and then, maybe about the team… otherwise explain squllaci, silveste, park, chamack etc etc

we have become a feeder club to barcelona and man city.

the end for me was the selling of alex song… one of the best midfielder who wanted to stay and had a long contract. barcelona say they want him and we sell and cheaply… without lining up a suitable replacement… where have I heard that story before?

i want the FA to investigate wenger’s link to barcelona.. too many players have been sold there.

this year I stop. I support Arsenal NOT barcelona and not some jumped up greedy money grabbing yank!

“As for Usmanov don’t believe a word, he’s only in it for the money, his money i.e…..Business.”

Statements like this are really quite silly, Usmanov has investments in companies such as Facebook and Megafon, Arsenal are a tiny investment to him and I find it highly doubtful he is in for the money, he also regularly attends matches unlike our cowboy owner which would suggest he is as much a fan as an investor, in an ideal world we wouldn’t have either but any same person would chose Usmanov over Silent Stan. Getting pretty bored of hearing fans come out with moans about Usmanov, when the alternative is what we have now..

Honestly the writer just spoke my just sick and tired of the whole situation.check Man united’s transfer dealings over the years.they make just 1 marquee signing each summer.their average pay for a player is £12m,which is similar to that of Arsenal’s.then why are United more successful than we are?? I suggest a massive revamp.i mean, let Peter Hill wood, stan, etc, move out and let people with vision in. As for Arsene,i guess he has tried all the years.lets bring in new hands for fresh breath’s sake.we need new direction in the club.

You have to get over the idea that Wenger or the board care about what the fans think. I’m sorry but I’m frustarted fan as well but I’m not moaning anymore. Before SAF came along man untied hadn’t won anything in like 20 years LOL. That will be wenger and the boards excuse until it comes to 20 years without a trophey. Yes we sold players over the years but we sold the ones that held the club for ransom such as nasri, sold the ones that were getting old, viera and rvp, we sold players because we respected them too much cesc and henry. What I dont like is when arsenal sell players for no apparent reason aka song and hleb. No pressure to sell players yet they do. But it doesn’t matter at the end of the day cause our opinions as fan DO NOT AND WILL NOT EVER MATTER. lol sounds silly right? Its a fact. Just get behind your team and support them. Gunner forever
