Will Arsenal be reliant on Aaron Ramsey in 2014/15?

Aaron Ramsey had his best season in an Arsenal shirt last campaign and he will be looking to replicate his form, which saw the Welshman bag 10 Premier League goals along with 8 assists. Not a bad return for a player that not so long ago was being heavily criticised for his performances and was nearly sold. Injuries have been a key factor in Ramsey’s Arsenal career so far, he had that infamous leg break at Stoke City back in 2010 which was followed by an injury which occurred away at West Ham last season on Boxing day. Ramsey only made 23 league appearances last campaign but was prominent in Arsenal title challenge leading up Christmas.

Ramsey who suffered many setbacks after the Boxing day injury was not available until the FA Cup Semi Final against Wigan at Wembley in April, timing is everything in football and Ramsey made two very important contributions which was a major factor in Arsenal lifting their first silverware in a decade. This was the catalyst for the foray in this Summer’s transfer window without the addition of silverware many believe Wenger would have left in the Summer. This could may well have left the club in disarray.

The Wales captain has time on his side, Ramsey is still unbelievably only 23 years of age. He is still learning the game and if he can stay fit he is capable of playing a major part in Arsenal mounting a genuine Premier League title challenge. All the things are in place for him to achieve this. Many people at the Emirates are tipping even bigger things for Ramsey (who is affectionately known as Rambo), he is seen as club Captain material. He plays with a real passion not only that he sees the big picture on the field. His style of play resembles former Captain Cesc Fabregas who for his sins is now part of the Chelsea squad for the coming season.

Arsene Wenger has been much maligned in recent seasons by the fans but he must be commended with the transformation in Ramsey’s attitude and application, when there were calls for Ramsey to be sold or loaned out Wenger was adamant that the Welshman was a key member of the squad. With the belief that Wenger has shown in Ramsey he has not failed the Arsenal Manager for this both Player and Manager most be respected. In a time where big clubs are all too fast to discard a young talent and dip back into the transfer market it just goes to show what a desire to succeed, loyalty and faith can reward you with.
