Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny revealed how much the team have been suffering following their poor run of form, reports The S*n.

The Gunners lost 2-1 away to Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday afternoon, leaving them 33 points adrift of leaders Manchester City and 13 shy of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Prior to the Brighton loss, however, Arsenal came unstuck to Manchester City in the League Cup final and Premier League within seven days, and Koscielny says the three defeats in the last week have rocked the side to their very core.

“It is maybe the first time any of us has experienced a week as bad as this and it has been a difficult time for everyone. We are trying to fight our way through this bad situation but nothing is going for us,” he said.

“We have not had the results we wanted and we can feel that the players don’t have the confidence to be efficient on the pitch and to play well with the ball.

“We have lost a bit of our quality and we are missing a lot of passes. So now we need to push more again and again. It will be very hard for us to finish in the top four now but we need to stay together and fight.

“It is very big period of the season coming up for us so we need to get our heads down and work every day to get the freedom back into our game.”

Arsenal are out of the FA Cup, League Cup and are mathematically out of the title race. They have the Europa League left but face AC Milan in the last-16 which could be a difficult clash. With just four wins from their previous 15 in all competitions, Wenger has a big task to turn things around.

The Londoners have lost four on the bounce in all competitions ahead of their meeting with Milan and have suffered eight defeats in 2018 for their troubles. As things stand, Arsenal won’t be playing Champions League football for a second consecutive season, and Arsene Wenger may not be at the helm either.
