Lacazette admits that he needs to improve

Arsenal attacker Alexandre Lacazette has admitted that he needs to improve if he is to regularly feature in the Gunners starting xi this season.

The French international has yet to start during any of the Gunners League games so far this season. He did make an impressive 45 minute cameo on Saturday against West Ham after replacing Alex Iwobi at half-time.

It was Lacazette who allowed the Gunners to take the lead during the 70th minute during the clash against the Hammers. His cross was deflected into the net by Hammers defender Issa Diop for an own goal.

After proving to be inconsistent during the first-half of last season, Arsenal swooped for Pierre-Emerick Aubabeyang during the January transfer window and the Gabon international has since become the club’s first-choice forward.

The win was the first for the Gunners under new manager Unai Emery who replaced the long-serving Arsene Wenger during the summer. The fallen giants of English football headed into the clash against Manuel Pellegrini’s side on the back of defeats against Manchester City and Chelsea.

After impressing so far this season, Lacazette surely deserves to start up front alongside Aubameyang when the Gunners play against Cardiff City on Sunday. This is a game in which they should aim for nothing less than three points.

Arsenal will go into the clash as the firm favorites. Newly promoted Cardiff are still adapting to life in the top-flight and have so far drawn two of their three Premier League games played thus far, losing the other.

Lacazette who scored 17 goals from 39 games across all competitions last season for the Gunners knows where he needs to improve if he is to be handed starts.

As quoted by The Express, he told Arsenal Player: “I have to be more powerful and be quicker in my decision making,”

“It’s harder in England than in France, so I have to take in information quicker and be more powerful.”
