Report: Alexandre Lacazette weighing up his future at Arsenal

According to a report published by Le10Sport, Alexandre Lacazette is currently considering his future at Arsenal. The Frenchman has been deposed as Arsenal’s first-choice forward following the arrival of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the January transfer window.

That has so far proven to also be the case following the arrival of Unai Emery as Gunners boss. Lacazette arrived at the Emirates last summer from French club Lyon. He had developed a reputation as being a lethal finisher in France and many Gunners fans were hoping that he could become a modern day Thierry Henry.

The 27-year-old’s first season with Arsenal was largely inconsistent. He went on to make 39 appearances for the club in all competitions and scored 17 goals.

His inconsistency led to him starting just four out of Arsenal’s last 12 Premier League games of last season. He subsequently missed out on selection to the 23-man France squad which went on to win the World Cup in Russia during the summer.

So far, Lacazette has yet to start any of the Gunners games during the 2018/19 season under new boss Emery. This has led to him considering his future at the club.

Lacazette is now at the prime of his career and at a stage where he really should be playing regularly. If he wants to stand a chance of being re-called for the highly competitive France national team, he cannot also be restricted to just substitute appearances at a club level, regular first-team football will be needed.

Lacazette needs to seriously re-evaluate how things go during the first half of this season. If he is not handed regular opportunities by Emery and struggles to find the back of the net on a regular basis, he should seriously consider pushing for a move during the January transfer window or at the end of the season.
