Orji Kalu wants to buy a stake in Arsenal

Nigerian billionaire Orji Kalu wants to invest in Arsenal.

According to reports, the 60-year-old businessman is looking to buy a 35% stake in the club and he wants to help the Gunners return to their former glories.

The London club have fallen behind the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool over the last decade and Kalu believes that he could fund their success once again.

Last time Arsenal won the Premier League was in 2004 and a club of their stature needs to challenge for the major honours every year.

It will be interesting to see if the Nigerian billionaire succeeds in acquiring a stake at Arsenal.

The Gunners are in desperate need of investment and it could be a good move for all parties.

Speaking to the media about his desire to invest in the Premier League club, Kalu said: “Our success with Enyimba FC between 2000-07 has continuously increased my passion for football.

“As the pillar of sports in Africa, I am considering an investment in football and I will buy 35 per cent stake in Arsenal FC.

“Our target is to lift the Champions League and EPL, and valuable investment as well.

“Doing what you love and loving it is where greatness lies. I need 35 per cent of Arsenal to bring back trophies.”

Arsenal need better players to compete at the top of the table and someone like Kalu could help them star players like Werner, Van Dijk etc.
