Traore reveals PSG dream

March 17, 2010

Arsenal youngster Armand Traore believes he will eventually play for Paris St Germain, the "club of his dreams", although he admits a move this summer would be too early.

Traore moved to Arsenal from Monaco in 2006 and, having spent last year on loan at Portsmouth, is now beginning to prove himself at the Emirates.

With Kieran Gibbs injured, the 20-year-old has emerged as first-choice understudy to compatriot Gael Clichy in the left-back role. However, Traore admits he would love to move back to Paris, where he was born.

"PSG will always be PSG," he told Le Parisien. "They are a great club that made a whole generation of people dream during the years 1990-2000.

"And the Parc des Princes is a mythical stadium. Still today when I talk to other players, prestigious or not and of all nationalities, they talk to me about PSG, telling me that they dream about playing there one day.

"And moreover, for me, Paris represents a lot. It's the club of my dreams and I know that I will play there one day."

Traore added: "If people from PSG contact me this summer, I would listen carefully to what they have to say, but I think it's too early for me to go to PSG.

"I prefer to stay longer in England but, God willing, I'll come there later. I really want it."

Is he serious? You're playing for Arsenal, one of the most elite clubs in the world and it's your "dream" to play for Paris St. Germain? It's his dream to step down into mediocrity? Shows a lack of ambition to me. Reminds me of when Landon Donovan was asked how he'd feel about a move to Real Madrid and he claimed he doesn't need to because he's already playing at one of the elite clubs in the world in one of the best leagues in the world - the LA Galaxy in the MLS.

Maybe next he'll trade in his Audi R8 for a Ford Fiesta.

Apparently he has already confirmed this is bollocks. He just said he loved PSG as a kid and the media blew it out of the water.

Ahh yeah just saw it on Arsenal.com.

This is what he said:
Armand Traore wrote:So what do you make of these stories? Are you annoyed?
"Yes I am annoyed, because I spoke with good intention but it hasn't come out that way. I said I would maybe like to play there eventually because I grew up supporting PSG, but nowhere near the summer. There is no summer talk. I am 100 per cent, 100 per cent committed to Arsenal. It will be like this until my contract finishes or until I am not wanted here anymore. That is how it is.
"I come from Paris. It is true that I have supported PSG and I like the club, my ambition is to play for Arsenal and that is it. I am only concentrated on Arsenal. I do not want the Arsenal fans to think that my heart is not with this Club. I am fully committed with Arsenal and the manager."

If his reputation was as high as Fabregas' we wouldn't be hearing the end of him wanting to go to PSG.

Lack of ambition?

Thats a bit harsh. The guy was born in Paris, and obviously spent his childhood supporting PSG. How is it a lack of ambition to play for the club you would have given anything for as a youngster?

Mate, if i was a pro, and Arsenal were a midtable side, and I was at Real Madrid....I'd still have ambitions to play for Arsenal one day. It is everyone's dream to play for the club they love.

I don't see what's unambitious about that

Thanks Be To God, For Giving Us The Arsenal

No, this kid needs to stay. He's very promising, I've been watching him for a few years now. I truly believe that he will become a top, top player. Mark. my. words.
