Edin Dzeko

EDIN DZEKO insists he has no intention of quitting Wolfsburg in the January transfer window.
The Bosnian striker was linked with Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal after smashing 26 goals in the Bundesliga last season.

However, Dezeko maintains he is fully committed to the German outfit — at least until the end of the current campaign..

He said: "A transfer in the winter is not an issue at all."

The 23-year-old recently extended his contract with Wolfsburg by two years — keeping him at the club until 2013.

But one of the conditions of him signing the new agreement included a release clause allowing him to speak to any side who offered £18million for his services.

And Wolfsburg boss Armin Veh has braced himself for Dzeko's exit by revealing he has already started looking at replacements.

He said: "We are scouring the market but we can only get really serious when Edin leaves."

Code: Select all
Arsene Wenger will step up his search for a new striker to pump fresh New Year's impetus into Arsenal's fading season.

The Gunners looked lightweight in attack during yesterday's 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium and they are now 11 points behind the leaders.

Robin van Persie's ankle ligament damage means he is sidelined until April and with Nicolas Bendtner also stuck in the treatment room, Wenger knows his team lack a cutting edge.

Wolfsburg's prolific finisher Edin Dzeko could be a solution and the Arsenal manager is an admirer of his qualities in the penalty area.

The only drawback is Dzeko would not be available for the Champions League where he has been in sparkling form, scoring three times in five group stage matches.

I know mate, nobody would be more happier then me if he comes in Arsenal, but no,we like some anonymous and cheap players for small money, and we are satisfied with them...quality has it's price we should all know that but...!we will buy some 19 years old kid and someone here is going to convince us how he good is...and in 2-3 years we are going to complain about..'oh Sagna can't cross,oh Diaby is ,oh goalies are no good...',of course, what do we want for couple of millions in professional football?

look how Barca is doing, they also have an excellent youth department,in first team they have now players from that department,Pedro,Busquets,Pique,Valdez,Krkic,Xavi,Iniesta,Puyol...but they know they need to give those guys a support with a few expensive and experience players...and that's why they are currently the best team in Europe
