Fran Merida

He wants more dough to sit on his arse, it seems, which is fair enough. He's testing Wengers resolve and willingness to keep him by holding out for a few quid extra, I reckon. I like him, but they can't all play.

why we should be desperate to keep him if we have so many players in line to play ahead of him?If Wenger offers him any contract at all he should accept it or leave without any demands,no negotiations!I agree with the part 'they can't all play' and just to add,we can make changes,we can sell players,we can release players,we can try some new players, some new youngsters from youth department,we can clear space for other guys...they can't all play and we don't need to keep them all!the best of all we should keep all others can go!maybe only 1-2 youngsters will become good players,I believe it will be Ramsey between those we have now

So far I have only seen him in a carling cup match and a few cameos in the league . Maybe not enough to judge him but I saw nothing special . 5 years ago I remember how thrilling it was to have Cesc come on and how much he would add . Even Ramsey with the few appearances he had last season and at the beginning of the season , he made an impression .

I agree!he is quite a long time with us and like Deano has said 'they can't play all',and if in so many years he didn't manage to impose himself to manager to pick him more times than he should look his future somewhere else!lets try some other players

The position he plays in is pretty loaded atm too , we have Cesc and Ramsey already playing there and we have Diaby who has the ability and the hope to play there , We have Denilson who did play there in the past when Cesc was not about and we have Wilshere who is supposed to be getting his final studies atm and they are all good options, at least more proven than Merida

I have no concrete evidence on this but a good friend (and reliable source as she lives in Spain) says that the deal will happen in the summer. Atletico is notorious she says though for doing some crazy things so she wouldn't say it was 100% but that Merida is lying about not talking to other clubs.
