Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger faces a sickening blow - with the loss of star French striker Gilles Sunu to Bordeaux for a pittance.
The teenage hit-man is unsettled with the Gunners and poised to quit when his contract runs out in the summer and Bordeaux chief Laurent Blanc is keen to snap him up.
Sunu has been unable to crack Wenger's first-team squad but is a regular starter and scorer for the reserves, netting against Chelsea in his most recent game this week.
The speedy attacker, who can also play wide, has been picked by France at all of their youth levels and thinks the time is right to make a break at the end of this campaign.
Derby County are among several sides who have tried to take Sunu on loan but Wenger will not let him out until he signs a new deal - in case he is spotted by a rival English club.
But now the fear is far greater as Bordeaux can pick up Sunu and not have to pay anything for him apart from low training compensation costs.
Sunu came through the ranks of the youth system in his homeland before coming to Arsenal almost three years ago, but now he may choose to return to his homeland.
