John Cross of The Mirror wrote:Former Arsenal midfielder Alexander Hleb is desperate to return to the Premier League - and has put Manchester City and Aston Villa on red alert.
Hleb, 28, quit Arsenal 18 months ago but was loaned out to Stuttgart this summer after failing to win a regular place at Barcelona.
The Spanish giants are now ready to sell Hleb this summer - and the Belarus midfielder admits he is keen to return to England.
Hleb said: “The chances for me to stay at Stuttgart next season are zero. Barcelona will decide my future and I am open to any option. But I have shown at Arsenal that I can play in England and enjoy the Premier League.”
Ironically, Hleb quit Arsenal for Barcelona in 2008 for £12million after claiming he was homesick and did not like London.
But just six months later, Hleb wrote to Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, insisting he had made a mistake and pleading for another chance.
But Arsenal did not act upon Hleb’s pleas and it appears he has burnt his bridges and yet Barcelona claim there has been interest from English clubs as they look to offload him this summer for around £8m.
Manchester City already have Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and another ex-Arsenal player in Sylvinho and are desperate for top quality players this summer.
Barcelona also claim Villa are keen and a source said there has been “serious interest“ from English clubs. Barcelona may even consider another loan deal for next season if they cannot strike a permanent deal.

We already have Nasri on the left side of midfield and Arshavin on the left side of attack. Dunno why he thought he could come back here and have a spot in the team. He didn't work out down the right side either as he's a left sided player. Glad Wenger ignored his letter.
