Kolo Toure will join Man City and Adebayor this week
By marco esposito

Kolo Toure will join Man City this week, according to a reliable source in Manchester.

Mark Hughes's pursuit of Toure is no secret, of course.

He badly needs reliable pros who will play hard in away games as well as home games.

Without that, Mark Hughes will be sacked.

Ade and Kolo are friends, so it makes sense.

If Toure goes, the move will substantially reduce Arsenal's exposure to the African Cup of Nations in February. If Eboue leaves, even more so.

In that period, the team is due to play Aston Villa, Chelsea and Liverpool, plus FA Cup ties.

Man City's directors had a board meeting on whether to sign Adebarndoor.

They had a vote on it. The vote was split. They decided to back the manager.

Defender agrees big money switch

Published Date: 26 July 2009
Manchester City have agreed personal terms with Arsenal defender Kolo Toure.
Occasional Arsenal captain Toure has been seduced by City's standard double-your-money offer and, following a season in which he was not consistently Arsene Wenger's first choice, should be sold for around £15m.

Lets not jump the gun here. Didn't any of you find it dodgy that he agreed terms yet there's nothing said about Arsenal agreeing a fee? How's that possible?

I wouldn't blame him... Wenger has taken the piss out of him for about 3 or 4 years now.

How can it be true if Arsenal haven't allowed them to have talks with him?

If he goes I can live with it if Senderos stays and another CB is brought in.

I would rather see him stay though. He still might have some use.

that is why I expressed some uncertainty and said 'probably' it is true that they have agreed something with him,I didn't said 'it is 100% sure',but my point was more on something else-Terry is staying with chelsea and Toure looks to be their backup plan that is all

I will be gutted if he leaves. Kolo has been our best player for the last 4 years

Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City are close to agreeing a £16million deal with Arsenal for Kolo Toure.

The central defender is to return from the club's pre-season training camp in Austria to undergo talks with City officials and manager Mark Hughes.

City reportedly failed in a bid to sign the Ivory Coast international in January but appear to be close to landing their man this time around.

When quizzed on Toure's future on Monday, Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger said: "We'll see what's happening in the next 24 hours."

City boss Hughes is eager to add defensive reinforcements to his ranks having already pepped up his attack this summer, via the high profile additions of Carlos Tevez, Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz.

Bids for Chelsea captain John Terry and Everton stopper Joleon Lescott have failed to bear fruit, with Toure seen as a viable alternative
