Kroenke hands Arsenal boss Wenger £40M transfer warchest

by Gaffer on Sat Feb 14, 2009 2:02 pm

Arsene Wenger is famously secretive about his transfer targets. Who would you like to see join the club and why?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will have at least £40 million to spend this summer.

The News of the World says there are major funds at Wenger's disposal with Stan Kroenke, who became the club's major shareholder this week, making it clear there is around £40m in the transfer kitty.

I was shocked that wenger didnt sign a DM this season to replace Flamini, Diarra and Gilberto

I think the reason he didnt is the player he really wants will take time to sign, I feel in the summer we will see a new DM hardman at the club.

I also think that Wenger will sign a new keeper in the summer and maybe a CB and a winger.

You're probably right, Attila. Does anyone know Arsenal are going to offer Rosicky a new contract, doesn't his contract expire this summer? I think Arsenal should give him a pay as you play contract, that way both parties win.

A DM in the summer is a must and today in the papers, Gazidis said Wenger will have funds to spend on transfer targets so hopefully we'll see someone class.

Yaya Toure or Alonso would be great for us, and maybe a CB, I don't think we need a new goalkeeper, Alumnia has been class since he's taken over at #1 and Fabianski is improving each game, so soon he'll push Alumnia for the number 1 spot.

Great times ahead

Arda's not needed anymore. He's adding depth at a position that's not needed.

I'd happy with a DM, no matter who it is. There are a few in France that might be worth it and the Brazilian Wenger's supposedly looking at might not be a bad fit.
As far as CB goes, just get someone in the Djourou mold and not another Toure or Gallas. Sakho would be a good buy as well as many others.
Lastly, I want to see him buy more youngsters. Some positions are basically promised to players which will hurt the team. I want to see a new RB prospect, DM, and a utility player for the back four.

Im now convinced that Adebayor and Gallas will leave in the summer.

Also apparantly Wenger is looking at French keeper Yohan Pele and a CB in Turkey (Cetin Servert)

I'd like to see Sakho join the club. Young talented CB that has had a good spell in the PSG first team. Looks like a typical Wenger signing.

I will be very unhappy if we don't get a DM this summer.

Here's what I would like:

A class DM. In my dreams Michael Essien. In the real world...Flamini or Veloso, I think.

A class CB. In my dreams Nemanja Vidić. In the real world....maybe Brede Hangeland?

But I would not be surprised to see us signing a 15 year old attacking midfielder from France or Ivory Coast
