FFS, if Wenger is willing to sign Campbell and let Senderos go, why not take Viera as backup?

Maybe because Campbell has proved he can do a job in training but he isn't sure Vieira can still do it. A centre back losing their pace and energy isn't as bad as midfielder losing it. Especially Vieira as that is what made him such a great player.

Maybe because Vieira doesn't want to sit as backup?

Maybe because he thinks we need a centre back more than a midfielder? Which I agree with

Maybe he did try but Manchester City offered him more money?

No need to get too frustrated when you don't have any idea what is going on behind the scenes.

maybe because Viera is on 130k a week at City and Campbell accepted a wage within Wengers budget?

Money and playing time - in that order, probably. Why should Vieira come here as Songs gimp? He's won everything there is to win and wants to go to the World Cup one last time. No brainer.

What, he's going to get more playing time ahead of Barry, Kompany and potentially Flamini?

It seems the Flamini rumour is as unfounded as any other. Basically Mancini expressed an interest, which was fimly rejected, and journalists have taken it as though there is a negotiation taking place.

I believe Vieira will be Mancini's first choice once he is fit.

I can only think he will, as he wouldn't have gone there. He aint fit at the moment but Mancini must have promised him a run once he is. As said, the Flamini rumour appears to be waffle of the highest order.
