Wojciech Szczesny Number One next season, no ifs, buts or maybes.

Too young, no big game experience. We need a new signing - a reputable goalkeeper.

If we don't make a signing, he has to be first choice, or at least second choice, but then, second to who?

His age is okay, look at Akinfeev at CSKA? He's not only a young keeper, he's a long-time captain of the club.

If we don't buy a keeper, then he simply has to be first choice, really. Only Mannone shows reasonable ability other than him.

Yes, Almunia has never been spectacular, but as long as we win the title of the Champions League, he will stay on as number 1.

The only possible reason I can see Wenger changing his keeper is if he makes a season-changing mistake. Double-edged sword in my opinion.

Almunia is average
Fabianski is extremly irratic and has low confidence
Mannone is relitively inexperienced and also variable
Szchensny has potential but no experience.

Imo we should try and sell Almunia, and maybe loan fab or mannone and buy a solid 1st choice keeper

From what I saw of Mannone when he had his run in the team, he made some phenomenal stops (and a few errors of course) and could be an excellent back up for us. Let's offload Almunia, loan out or sell Fabianski - he's just not going to become the keeper Wenger was hoping he'd be - and sign a top class keeper for once. I would rather see an extra 5 million go towards the no. 1 position, because imo that's where we need it most. We can get by in the other departments, apart from CB maybe..

Having a top quality keeper for the next few seasons is going to be imperative if we are to achieve the success we're capable of. If we had a Van Der Sar, a Schwartzer, a Reina, a Given or even that Gomes from the spuds, there's NO QUESTION we'd be top of the league. And we wouldn't have gone down to Porto that night. How much more confident would you be, in the team as a WHOLE, if we had iker casillas between the sticks? Not going to happen of course, but the point is, a solid keeper gives confidence to the defenders, which can relay throughout the entire team.

Arsenal deserves better goalie, but I can bet Wenger wont invest money in world class goalie,he will keep Almunia or even if he buys another goalie I am sure it will be some average class!I am also sure he wont buy some young goalie cause he is counting on Fabianski and Mannone in the future
