Don't be stupid, Look at Liverpool playing 4-5-1 with Torres. It doesnt work. Dont you remember Wenger playing 4-5-1 in the FA cup final with Bergkamp as a lone striker?

That didn't answer the question.

4-3-3 best suits players that are not at Arsenal, but it still is the best formation for the type of football Arsenal want to play. Right now, a 4-4-2 will carry the team through this season. At its end, there should be a buying of at least one wing forward who knows what they are doing.

Just think if we went back to 4-4-2

Cesc and Song in the middle

Rosicky and Nasri on the wings

Arshavin and Nic up front.

Perfect

Sinbad i would love to see Arshavin playing up front in a 4-4-2 in the bergkamp role. That would suit him.

The only 2 players who are enjoying this 4-5-1 are Cesc and Song.

Song because he has 2 players in front of him adding cover and Cesc as he is alllowed to go forward without worrying about tracking back.

Thats 2 players out of 11

Players who are suffering

Arshavin
Edaurdo
Both Full back as we have no wingers and they have to come forward.

We have to go back to the style of 5 years ago but the problem is Cesc. When we went 49 games unbeaten and won the double we did that with 2 defensive players in the middle in Vieira and Petit/ Gilberto

Cesc is the reason why Wenger changed the style IMO

Cesc seems actually very capable on defence as he has such fantatsic tactical awareness and vision. So I don't think it would be a problem; he is generally good in the tackle and knows when to track back and when to push forward.

Arsenal have always played 4-4-2.

Wenger use to always play 4-5-1 in champions league games and in the big games to try and win the game in midfield, But it never worked.

Our great teams under Wenger were 4-4-2

-------------------------------------------------Seaman
---Lauren-------------------Adams-------------------------------Campbell-------------Cole
---Parlour-------------------Vieira--------------------------------Petit-----------------Overmars
------------------------------Bergkamp---------------------------Anelka

Then it was

------------------------------------------------------ Jens
--Lauren/Eboue----------------------Toure-------------------------Campbell------------Clichy/Cole
--Ljungberg/Wiltord-----------------Gilberto--------------------Vieira------------------Pires
-------------------------------------Bergkamp/Kanu---------------Henry

Everybody knew there job

Now we have Eduardo on the wing 1, Arshavin the next, Walcott up front then on the wing, Nic on the wing???? its a shambles

If Wenger played 4-4-2 with the players we currently have fit our team would look something like this

---------------------------------------------------- Almunia
-Sagna---------------------------Gallas--------------------------Vermaelen----------------Clichy
-Walcott-------------------------Cesc-----------------------------Song---------------------Nasri
-----------------------------------Nic-------------------------------Arshavin

As you can see, 2 up front and big man and little man partnership. Arshavin playing the Bergkamp/Kanu role just off the striker and 2 wingers.

Eduardo can only play in a 4-4-2. We need to return to 4-4-2 in some games. I still think that 4-3-3 has a time and a place

People can blame players all they want. The real and only problem we have is this bullshit system we are playing with one striker.

If you are going to play one striker that player has got to be strong and able to holed the ball up and link the play. And also able to compete the the physical side of the game.

Who has Wenger been using ( Eduardo and Arshavin ) 2 of the smallest, weakest players you can find. And TBH both players have been made to look . You cant blame the players. Blame the manager for picking this crap and the wrong players.

Wenger didnt sign a striker to play this role so why not go back 2 a 4-4-2? Its madness

its the square pegs in round holes debate again. I agree this system has worked at times this season, but at others with the squad we have and the injuries etc i find it hard to understand why we tried to bodge this system all the way through

The sad irony is, an Eduardo-Arshavin partnership in a 4-4-2 would probably be one of the best in the league.

I was glad to see Arshavin back on the wing and Bendtner up front. The system works better with a big man up front
