Ade has come back looking fresh and up for it. 3 goals in 3 games since he came back. ALL set up by Cesc.

Ade will take the credit and rightly so but it proves how importance Cesc is to our game

Adebayor - I didn't want to leave last summer

Emmanuel Adebayor did NOT indicate he wanted to leave Arsenal in the summer.

A number of newspaper articles last year suggested that the Togolese striker was about to quit North London after two-and-a-half successful years in red and white.

Adebayor stayed and signed a new contract however, since then, he has maybe failed to hit the heights of the previous campaign when he vied with Cristiano Ronaldo for the Golden Boot. That said, he still averages a goal every other game and has seven Premier League assists – just three behind leader Robin van Persie.

His superb strike last week secured a vital draw in Villarreal. Ahead of the return leg at Emirates Stadium, the 24-year-old put to bed those stories from a year ago.

"I never said I would leave, people said that on my behalf,” he commented. “Today, I'm very happy at Arsenal and that is the reason why I stayed because I know with this team I can achieve things.

"I know we've had a difficult season in the Premier League, but we're still in the Champions League, still in the FA Cup and that's fantastic.

"We have to take the good points from that and enjoy ourselves to the end of the season.

"Yes, it's been difficult with all the problems - Hleb going to Barcelona, Mathieu Flamini going to Milan, everything was struggling a little bit, are we going to buy or not, myself going or staying.

“When I got my injury [in February] it was quite difficult too because at that time I wasn't hitting the net.

“But it's always good to go back [and] see what you have done well and what you have done bad. Taking a break made me feel good, allowed me to see my family which made me feel better. When I came back I knew I had two months to go until the end of the season.

“And I have to take a lot out of that. I must enjoy my games and help Arsenal to win things. That's why I signed for Arsenal and I think I am doing that quite well at the moment.

“The team have now got on a good roll, we are playing quite well and we enjoy playing together as a team. We are back in business, that is the most important thing.”

We can all see he isn't putting in the work he did last season, which was truly phenomenal. It seems most have decided that this is because he can't be arsed, that he doesn't care about football at all and is just collecting his wages, or that he thinks he's too good to have to do the work.

The suggestion though that last night's poor performance was down to him being lazy, in a CL semi-final, is ridiculous. There's no footballer in the world that wouldn't give his right arm to play in that match.

I suggest we need some other explanation of Adebayor's performance, one that maybe involves not being able to put in the level of physical exertion he did last season, either because he needs to reserve some energy for when he sprints or because he's carrying an injury.

Even though he can't keep possession for longer than half a second and he spends the entire match offside, he is still a handful for defenders - he is lanky and awkward and quite fast when he gets going. If he was one of a pair of strikers his ability to bother defenders would create opportunities for the other striker....but in the CL match against United he was on his own so it was pointless.

I think he is an "OK" striker. Not as good as last season but that often happens when a striker starts so well as he did when he came to Arsenal. I would much rather have Ade up front than that useless twat Bendtner.

hes a good striker. but he works much better with a partner.

ades runs and prescence forces defenders to move and creates gaps for someone like a van persie or eduardo to use, and when ades on form, he tears teams to shreds.

he needs a partner.

In the 2 Champions league semi finals and the FA Cup Semi final he did nothing.

Now will people like Malta accept that this guy is nothing more then overated and it was a big mistake not to sell him last summer for £30m.

You are wrong malta

Toure has been great in all 3 games.

Almunia was great in the first leg as was Gibbs.

Song and Nasri played well last night. The point is that players like Cesc and Adebayor are regarded as our STAR players and they didnt turn up.

Look at the impact Ronaldo had on the game
