I rather keep Adebayor if we don't sign a proper replacement!

I'd promote Vela in the team and give Jay Simpson a first team place.

But that's not replacing Adebayor, it would result in a total change of tactics, as well as a lack of phsyical presence up front.

I'm all for a change of Tactics. Didn't you see my blog where I said we should go for the 4 3 3? We could have Walcott or Arshavin on one wing and Vela or van Persie on the other with Eduardo or Bendtner in the center. Bendtner would give us physical presence and so would Jay Simpson. Adebayor may be taller than Simpson but he's not as muscular as he is. I don't think anything would be lost in terms of physicality in attack.

No, I never saw your blog... sorry.

And don't get me wrong, I'm all for a change of tactics as well, but it will take a long time for a team to totally change it's mentality (from physicality up front to pure pace).

You're right about Bendtner and Jay being stronger/as strong as Adebayor, but neither of them are anywhere near ready to start for Arsenal Football Club, especially not if we are going to compete for silverware sometime in the near future.

Why won't people see my view of moving Theo up front if we sell ade and spend that money on defence? He could be our Micheal Owen. Arshavin can play up front as well.

Too right mate TW14 is wasted on the wing cos he can't cross well enough. I can see him rapin plenty of CB with his pace tho. As you said defence/dm are our main priorities.

There's a difference between having a good striker, and a striker who is ready to lead by example in a team that is contending for silverware.

Walcott isn't ready, and probably never will be.

I might be rubbished for what I'm about to say but I think Theo Walcott is the closest thing we have in the squad to Henry right now. I would support him playing a more central role but lately he's had issues with his finishing. I've mentioned this elsewhere before but I'd want to see Walcott more centrally if and only if a specialist coach was brought in to help him with his end product. Maybe Bergkamp could be brought back or Ian Wright as well.

It's worth a try though because our conventional 4 4 2 formation has been found out over the course of this season.

To be honest, most of our poor performances have come via a 4-5-1, with Van Persie occupying the wing.

Yeah like in the Chelsea game recently. I agree with that but also look at games against Stoke, Hull, Villa and Fulham. We've used the 4 4 2 there and sometimes we struggle because of a lack of width when playing that formation. It doesn't really seem to be working when we play the grittier teams in the Premiership that look to rough us up and play anti football against us as well.

That's because we never really had a winger in the wide positions... think about it. Nasri is naturally a CAM and Walcott feels more comfortable in a central, striker position.

With Arshavin on the wing the 4-4-2 is a lot more effective, in my opinion.
