Samir Nasri Finally Showing His Real Game!

Postby Marco10 » Sun Dec 05, 2010 1:44 am

Now i say this because most people would say that Nasri has been hiding in Cesc's shadow which is true but this season my word Nasri been one of the best players in the world.

Nasri is our own Messi, he is a little genius so well done Samir keep it up,i think his improved immensely off the ball where he makes those ljunberg type runs behind the defence and lots of people have been surprised by his explosive pace including myself i knew he was fast but damn! he's rapid he's a different man totally if the season finished now no doubt Nasri would get the pfa player of the year.

Some people have asked if he should play in the hole behind Chamakh?

Personally i disagree because his main attributes are pace, dribbling, skill and technique and i think he uses them more when he's out wide, he's taking players on with his dribbling and pace or whether he makes those runs behind the defence i mean remember against England only a couple of times did he try run at people because in the hole, its not about that if you look at him against fulham he ran at that briggs kid way more times and no wonder mark hughes took him off after 30 mins, nasri killed him everytime.

Nasri is also a good passer but not a natural passer like Van Persie or Fabregas thats why one of them two preferably Van Persie should play in the hole they have better vision and position themselves.

Nasri could now be the new Robert Pires out wide so there's no reason to disrupt his momentum in the wide areas and in the future he should play on the left regularly which will make him a lot more dangerous because not only will he still make those runs behind the defence but i think he will take on people more frequently because he will cut inside on his favourite foot and go on the outside as well so hopefully you will see him cut inside and score goals like Pires did against liverpool in 2004.

Arshavin's contract ends in 2012 and i know that he wants to go back and play in Russia before he retires and he his already 30 so im going to finish this off by saying as a winger nasri utilises his main attributes a lot better and who needs fabregas eh? we've got nasri.

Man is a genius because he's getting goals from the right wing which isn't easy. He's been inconsistent these past few years but what he's always had is more class than the other guy no matter who it is. He never loses the ball when it's at his feet and most of the time he plays the right ball. What he's added to his game now is what Fabregas added to his game two years ago and that's being the guy that runs on and finishes the move or is in the right position to be an option to score, rather than previously being the guy who passed it and moved to the centre looking for the return to play another pass. His first touch is usually amazing especially controlling the ball from the air and most of all he is a little fighter who goes for 50/50s in the air or the floor.

I honestly think we need to demote Fabregas to central midfield because he is less direct than both Nasri or Arshavin and he has less pace but a perfect final ball usually. We've seen these past few games that Nasri and Arshavin just simply running at a back 4 scares them because of their pace and close control and goal threat and that makes it so easy for the other players to find space.

But for me the true beauty of this is the hope that comes with it. Hope that the direction the club is heading in isn't a downward one. We signed Nasri as a 21 year old for a serious fee and he didn't perform to a top standard for two years, and it just reminds you that Drogba didn't play at the top level until he was 25 and Wrighty didn't really start playing football properly until he was in his 20s, so all these "maybe" players like Diaby, Djourou, Bendtner, Walcott and Vela might just have that season where it all falls into place and they become amazing because as it stands not only am i glad to see a brilliant player like Nasri in our shirt, but I'm just so proud of him and what he's achieved. Maybe he really is the "new Zidane" :D

I agree, the development of Nasri has been pretty incredible. He looked like a talented player when he came to us, but was definitely slower than he is now and didn't have the amazing ball skills he's been showing of late. He was also pretty inconsistent and at times didn't show up at all. This season he has been our main threat, along with Arshavin, in every game. 11 goals so far from midfield is exceptional and let's just hope he can keep it going. If we can have Fabregas fit for the rest of the season after New Year, we will have a potent midfield pairing. With Jack playing well and Ramsey coming back, we'll have a lot of quality on the bench and a lot of options. As you say it has taken Nasri 2 years to adjust to the Premier League and as a 23 year old he is showing a lot of maturity and is playing with confidence. Let's just hope that our other youngsters can follow his lead and show similar improvements over the next couple years. A lot of our players are in that same age bracket and if they can improve gradually in the same manner we will have an incredible wealth of attacking options.

PS. Can someone please edit Marco10's punctuation and grammar? You make good points mate, but it's tough to read.

He is playing very well at the moment. He has been our best player all season and even before the season started he looked very good in all the friendlys.

How long till he wants a move?

Looks like the spelling police are out yet again.

Seriously, get a life man. Most people on this site are intelligent enough to know it was an error and realize everyone makes mistakes.

Well, obviously except you Captain Dictionary!

Marco, Good post mate. ;)

Bit harsh mate.. I said it was a good post. Don't knock my intelligence, I am just trying to help Marco out. If someone edited his post I think a lot more people would read it and more people would post. A lot of guys here are from other countries and it's great to have opinions from all over the world.

Back to Samir though, his performances this season have kept us in the title hunt. We could have easily lost that game yesterday, and his goals have earned us precious points all season. If our other attacking players can step up to the plate in a similar fashion, we will have an incredible attacking unit and also a lot of options from the bench. The fact that he is scoring a lot of goals also takes some pressure of our strikers. Every top team has goals from midfield and if we can keep that going, hopefully RVP and Chamakh will form a strong pairing and if that happens we will not be short of goals. Then all we need is for Vermaelen to get fit again!!
