Time for our kids to act like men

Postby Sinbad » 2010 09 04, 9:25

Arsenal’s super “KID” Jack Wilshere who was arrested last week for a GBH, was also “apparently” trying to take pictures up women’s SKIRTS with his mobile. The Sun reports

Well, Im not saying what Jack Wilshere allegedly done was acceptable, but lets remember that he is 18 years old. And I put my hand up and admit that I did pretty much the same in my youth, and far worse.

But saying that I was not playing for Arsenal FC.

Add the Wilshere arrest to a list of embarrassing incidents by our youngguns, including the arrest of Jay Emmanuel-Thomas. Nicklas Bendtner leaving a club drunk with his trousers round his ankles.

Something is going wrong with the kids at Arsenal? Have they been hyped up to much and the fame has gone to there heads? Maybe. The Arsenal kids are under a crazy amount of publicity and pressure.

Every young player we have at the club is hyped up by Youth team blogs to be the next Liam Brady and the new Dennis Bergkamp. Personally I don’t think that it is right and our young players should be kept out of the spotlight, and I’m sure Arsenal FC feel the same way.

Wenger needs to sit the likes of Wilshere and JET down and give them a good telling off and warn them that there footballing future might not be as bright as they think it is. Things can change fast in football, remember Lee Sharpe at Man Utd?

What the younger players at Arsenal need to remember is this, its most of our dreams to be given the chance to play for Arsenal. Not for the money or the fame or for the girls or flash cars. But for the dream of running out onto the pitch and wearing that red and white shirt. YOU have that dream in the palm of your hands, don’t screw it up for a few drinks and being jack the lad.

Trust me its alot harder when you have to work 50 hrs a week for £17,000 a year.

Wenger and Brady need to start being a bit more heavy handed with our kids and people need to stop hyping them up and making them feel bigger then what the actually are.

A spokesman for Wilshere insisted he was acting as a peacemaker, when the row erupted at 2.30am on Sunday morning.
He added: ‘The police have made it very clear that he is an important witness to the incident and played the role of peacemaker and is unlikely to face any charges as a result.’

The 18-year-old teetotaler and the other two men, who are aged 18 and 21, were held for ten hours by police before being bailed until mid-October.

It doesn't sound too bad. As you say, he's only young and will do some stupid things as he grows up. Being teetotal should keep him out of a lot of trouble

We all f##k up for no apparent reason. We all look back and think, "How the f##k could I have done that...how stupid was I?" But at the time you jsut don't see it and that's natural, biological even. I think he will be more fucked up if he is kept on a leash and made to act and age that he isn't. Let him have that stupid experience that everybody has and move on and grow up.

He may get paid more money, but everything he does is in the public eye and that can't be easy. We didn't get our mistakes plastered all over the tabloids.

I would say this about any young player at any club, too. Not jsut because he's an Arsenal player. Personally, I've always thought he looked a bit petulant and thuggish on the pitch, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be given the degree of 'freedom' and leniency that all teens should.

Craig Eastmond has become the 3rd Arsenal player to be held behind bars by Police this year after he was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure.

Eastmond, 19 was bailed until next month. after he allegedly exposed his penis in public.

A Met Police spokesman said: “We can confirm that on Wednesday October 6, police received an allegation of indecent exposure from a woman in Battersea. A 19-year-old man attended a South London police station and was arrested on suspicion of indecent exposure.

“He has been bailed to return on a date in November pending further enquiries.”

Eastmond now joins Jack Wilshere who was arrested for GBH in Sept and Jay Emmanuel-Thomas who failed to stop for Police and not driving in accordance with a licence.

Add to that Nicklas Bendtner leaving a club drunk with his trousers round his ankles. its clear that you “Youngguns” at Arsenal are out of control.

3 youth team players arrested!… Something is seriously wrong with the way we handle the youngplayers

I said in Sept that “Wenger needs to sit the kids down and give them a good telling off“… Well clearly he didn’t and they are running riot.

LOL. What the hell are these guys up to.

I disagree here. These guys are in their teens. Wenger isn't their father, he's a football coach. This is the domain of parents and is where parents should be giving the bollocksings, more so than Wenger. I don't see that there are any holes to be picked in Wenger here.

These kids are kids. I'm 22 and if you go on a night out where I live you will see some young people doing some stupid shit. People do stupid things, just because someone's talent is playing football rather than fixing cars doesn't mean they are somehow more moral. Most footballers aren't the sons of investment bankers, they're just the average kid from the estate who happens to be good at football and therefore have a lot more money than 99% of people their age. This is not an Arsenal problem, if it's a problem it's with British culture. If you have that many young males around, some of them are going to be idiots. It's not Arsenal or Wenger's fault. As Curt says he's not their father, if they have flawed personalities then blame their actual fathers as they're the ones who've been teaching them how to be men for 20 years. All Wenger has done is teach them how to play football.

In any club, if you've got 25 first team players, 20 reserve players and 20 under 18s, do you think they're all going to be perfect gentlemen? As long as they have the attitude towards the club for putting in work and training hard I don't think you can dictate what they do in their own time. Boys will be boys, and I can imagine Craig Eastmond's friends are just normal boys he went to school with or know from where he lives. You can't expect a 19 year old to live in a sphere where his only activity is football. If I was to fathom a guess in this Eastmond situation, he trains a lot and probably doesn't get the chance to go out with his friends and get wasted very often and may well overdo it on the occasions he does. I'm assuming he was very drunk or else if he's getting his knob out sober then he really does have a problem. :D

Whatever you think of Ashley Cole cheating on his wife and being a general arse in every way, he's still the finest player in the world in his position and I can imagine a lot of fans would rather he was still playing for us right now instead of Clichy. Arsenal is my football team and I don't think I have the right to judge the character of all of the players that play for it. I don't care what my bank clerk or local shopkeeper gets up to when they're not at work.
