Wenger Hints..NO MORE SIGNING

Last night in his post match interview Wenger was asked “if he would be bringing anymore defenders in” and he replied

‘ “I believe what is important is that we focus on the qualities we have and do not worry too much. I think it is important to continue to develop the qualities we have started since the beginning of the season and if the opportunity comes we will take it”…. {watch video [Here]}

Now lets wait a sec… A few days ago Wenger said ” We were short of numbers at the back and he would be looking at signing one more defender” and that was BEFORE Sol Campbell joined Newcastle?

So why has Wenger now changed his tune? ….. I have no doubt that our transfer dealings are now done… But maybe Wenger will push the boat out and resign Silvestre for 2 more years?

Wenger will tell the fans that he will be up until midnight on deadline day working hard to bring in new faces. but come midnight we are going to be left waiting.. and nothing.

Then afew days later Wenger will say “We came very close to doing a deal but it didn’t work out”

Now hang on, Arsene’s attempts to resolve the defensive problem have been going on for several seasons now.

Based on his efforts to date to fix this massive weakness in the team, which has I conclude that Arsene is a massive, massive flop.

We have allowed FOUR CBs to leave this summer for FREE and replaced them with an unknown CB with the physique of Marc Randall.

And what if Vermaelen picks up an Injury during the season??

And what about the Keeper? Who is going to be our number ONE?? And the backup DM for Song?.. I pray its not Denilson or Diaby being asked to do the dirty work when Song picks up his 10 yellow card of the season.. Or maybe Wenger will use Nasri again? …Oh god please Arsene stop being a tight sod and go and sign Kompany who can do both jobs.

Worried yet? …..You should be, But in Arsene we trust right?

This is much of the same over the last four summers, Wenger hinting that he would invested and then backtracking and letting us down? …Where is all this money that we apparently have?

I tell you something, If we go into the season with our current squad we are going to be lucky to finish in the top FIVE!!

And then what?… What will the “in Arsene we trust brigade” do then?… Blame the board? Blame the players? Blame the pitches? Blame the refs? Blame the other team for being to hard?….No we did all of them already since 2005.

No doubt this is going to have the “AKB” calling for me to go and support the scum down the road, or pick out the odd spelling mistake to take the attention away from from the facts… But it time some of you so called Arsenal fans smelt the coffee.

We need a manager who cares more about making a profit and balancing the book. I hope this summer is his last as our manager.

This really is one of the most shortsighted pieces of shite I’ve read in a long time.

So do you think that arsenal are too big to go bust? Ask the supporters of Leeds if they think that buying the big names is the right policy. In a couple of years every team in europe will have to balance the books or not be able to compete in Europe. the only team balancing the book at the moment in the top 5 is arsenal, so the rest will have to change their policy soon (looks like Chelsea might have started by getting rid of some overpaid hangers-on).

Wengers record speaks for its self. Most successful manager of arsenal in modern day against a backdrop of a massive debt incurred from a new stadium. Most exciting football we have ever played….ever. Even our previously successful teams would not have been so good to watch as the current team. Most secure future, with so many quality young players coming through. Why are people moaning? Even if we did buy 1 or 2 new players are we realistically going to compete with chelsea or man city? There really is no certainty that we would win anything.

No specifically, my criticism of the article: 4 centre backs leaving – sol campbell (76 years old?), Mikel silvestre (76 years old and shite), Senderos (never going to make it), gallas ( a big loss on the pitch but an obvious problem in terms of morale). The replacements: Kosceilny (from all accounts a great up and coming player), Djourou (he was missing all last year), Nordveit (well deserving of a promotion). I actually think we could do with another, but I do trust that wenger sees the players every day and knows what he is doing.

back up for Song – have you been watching frimgpong in the friendlies? Denilson older and stronger. Diaby- older and wiser? Nasri, playing great stuff pre season.

keeper? again i agree we are weak here but if there is no value out there we cannot mortgage the club in a fruitless pursuit.

i do not have blind faith in wenger, but I appreciate where the club have come from since he has been at it and where it promises to go. He has done so much with so little, where a lesser manager would have bankrupted the club trying to achieve half of what he has achieved.

Get behind your club and support them instead of spreading cancerous shite. Be careful what you wish for!

I 4 one respect him 4 all he has done 4 this great club but i still feel very strongly that this current Arsenal team needs a couple of quality players to truly make them a title winning squad. A quality keeper (akinveev) a CB (Mertesacker) a player like De Jong or Kompany ‘ll do just fine in providing cover 4 Song and Cesc if he stays. and since we ve lost Edu me really think it won’t hurt to bring in a player like VDV from Real to add steal up front.. Imagine Arsenal with these players next season. not even a tired legs Chelsea or Sir Alex united can stop us from doing a double once again…. it’s all dreams though but then, dreams do come true. i earnestly implore Arsene to do something cos i love this club with a passion… i don’t even have a girl-friend all because i love my GUNNERS.

arsene wenger is the best signing in arsenal history. what he has done for our club is incredible and if people belived in the team and supported them like any real fan should, instead of booing and highlighting any error from the players (especially walcott, eboue, diaby) it would benefit everyone. We can win something with the team we have. A bit of luck with injuries and referee decisions this year and we got a great chance. Get behind the boys and wenger, keep the faith and get the atmosphere up over the emirates every game (not just tottenham, chelsea and manc games) and watch them get their swagger back and get our title back once more. that last bit is brilliant. “We need a manager who cares more about making a profit and balancing the book.” the irony of it all is thats exactly whats he’s done in the last five years or so. its a known fact that of all the top clubs in and England and Europe, Arsenal have been only one of a few clubs who’ve been posting financial gains greater than financial loss for the better part of the last decade. by refusing to frugally throwing away money he’s done exactly what youve pointed out. And it absolutely puzzles me that you have absolutely no faith in the players. of the players we’ve lost only one could be considered to be a key player, but Gallas was becoming more and more of a cancer in the dressing room that its probably better that he’s gone. You have to remember this group has been playing with each other for nearly four seasons now, they will produce, and when they do i fully expect you and all of Wenger’s detractors to be on your knees

i think everybody needs to chill out,,,when asked about a signing when has wenger ever said who he will bring in,,,im pretty sure he has somthing up his sleeve,,he knows that kos,verm,djou is not enough,id say we can expect a signing by monday at the latest in the cb,as for the keeper ive got a feeling chesney is now our no 1 and will start both games at the weekend to get him ready for anfield,and im confident he is good enough aswell

goalkeeper issue honestly isnt as bad as everyone makes out. I agree that fabianski was aweful at the end of last year and it’s obvious he isn’t cut out for the premiership with teams like blackburn, stoke, chelsea bombing balls in the box from everywhere and waiting for fabianski to come and gather and make his mistakes. but almunia is capable, every keeper in the world makes mistakes and obviously it gets highlighted if the keeper messes up but until he got lost against barca when ibrahimoviv lobbed him, first half he was incredible and kept us in it. Mannone has never let anyone down when he has been given a chance and schezny at brentford last year looked a future world beater. It’s the central defence that needs strengthening and also clichy/gibbs and sagna/eboue need to improve their final ball when attacking cos crossing from full backs last year was attrocious.

I agree with some of this post. Wenger has continuosly allowed players to leave without replacing them, you can’t win anything with a bunch of inexperienced kids. I dont belive in spending wildly but on quality experienced players, we need atleast two more CBs a DM another forward wouldnt hurt, we all know how prone the team is to injuries and there will be this season so we need good cover.The team needs to win something even just for motivation sake, this is one of the reasons why Cesc wants to leave, season after season of coming up short is becoming frustrating and a manager promising better and what really gets me is that when he says “players coming back from injuries will be like new signings” what a load a SHIT does he think people are morons

Stop hating wenger fgs! The only reason he’s been so unactive in the transfer window lately is because he cares deeply about the long term future of the club. If you take a look at his transfer activity before the plans to build ashburton grove were even thought of.. you would see that he was very busy signing successful players such as pires, henry, wiltord etc etc. But if things are true about our rise in profit due to the development of highbury then i would strongly recommend wenger looks at buying a centreback aswell as a new goalkeeper (sell flabyhandski). I dont believe we need another CDM to backup Song as we have talented youngsters such as Frimpong and Coquelin coming through the ranks

Been a fan for 40 years+, remember the dark days, terry neil, bruce rioch et al. Still maintain AW has revolutionised football in this country, but feel he’s dined out on this fact for too long, and some of his die-hard fans will always use this as a basis to defend him no matter what.
Facts – Man City will be better this season, Man USA will be there or there abouts, the chavs will contest, the scousers have just got themselves a top manager, and the scum from down the road and Villa will challenge for 3rd & 4th. With our current squad, I just cant see how we’ll do anything better than contest 4th place.
By AW’s own admission we havent got a no 1 goalie, that in itself is a joke!
We’ve lost 4 CBs 9Senderos, Silvy, Sol and Gallas) and gained 1!!! Again a joke.

The point is AFC can afford to get a CB, and a golie for £20-£25M, buw we’ll wait until the last minute as usual and end up overplaying certain players, and using some of said players as cover in positions they are’nt naturally suited to, just to save a buck or 2! And no buying these players wouldnt put us in the Leeds/Pompey position, because we arent Leeds or Pompey FFS, so that is a pathetic argument!

As scary as all the above sounds, I’ll be at THOF from the Blackpool game every other week cheering the reds home as I have done for the last 20 years, but with a tinge of trepidation!! Come on you reds!

Give Wenger a break for letting his youngsters come in and have a shot. Look at Chelsea and Liverpool, who have they had break through into the first team. Man City previously before the money had a great youth system too, but im sure thats going to change with the money being thrown around. Sometimes I do wish Wenger would buy someone, but many are quoting Mertesacker? I personally think he is to slow and wouldnt fit into our system. We need speedy centre backs with our high line. Of course you should – when he is competent and prepared to be flexible, show ambition, recognise and address issues, acknowledge mistakes and importantly, not repeat them. A manager who doesn’t do these things – on and off the field – does not deserve our support. And nor our respect, I would suggest.
And don’t dredge up all the usual excuses about what he HAS done for us in the past.Those days were marvellous, but I and many others are more concerned with what is happening NOW, and in the future. Its ok. but hate seeing AW kicking water bottles when things get hot.so far Arsenal have spent around 10mpds on Kos and recieved 6mpds from Eduardo why cant AW use that amount plus what he was given to spent this season to bring a proven CB. i think that will not make Arsenal run at a loss.The upcoming stars need to play alongside experienced players to develop. What derailed us last season was injury and if Verma is injured who will step in now Djouru may not last without injury. Arsenal is making profits cos fans are filling the stadium so they should also be paid back. I trust AW but abit worried this time round.

While it may sound unfair to judge Wenger until the transfer window closes – I still have my reservations. I am trying desperately to see the point of UNTOLD ARSENAL but this keeps proving difficult. 1) Wenger said he will do all our transfers before the world cup – and probably has 2) he said we do not have a number 1 3) Hill Wood said we have more money to spend on players than we have had in a long time 4) Wenger is not that stupid (or is he) to keep taking Hill-Wood’s bullets year after year.

At what point in my last post did I pledge my unyeilding allegience to the AKB? My point was Sinbad never posts anything positive, intelligent or worth reading. Its July and already we’re condemned by shortsighted fools like you two. There AFC fanbase isn’t divided in two goups.. The AKB and the Wenger Out Brigade, there are plenty of us in between who are frustrated with Wengers policies but dont spit our dummies out or try and force our views on other people.

When the window closes and we haven’t signed anymore established players which i’m sure every fan agrees we need then I too will be cunting out wenger but in the mean time I’ll continue cunting out people like you and Sinbad because quite frankly you deserve it.

Give it a rest, please. If Wenger has seen in pre-season that Nordveidt and Djourou are ready and up for it, then that gives us four young fit solid CBs. The defenders that have been released are over the hill. Chamakh has genuine ability and drive. Wilshere is looking better than ever. Nasri has stepped it up. Theo has a point to prove. Diaby has had the experience of playing at a World Cup along with Clichy and Sagna. Cesc is staying, RvP is entering his prime, Rosicky is sharp. There are a lot of good things going on, so don’t try and fuck with everyone’s heads with your doomer shite. I was as pissed off as anyone last season but there have been nothing but good signs so far in pre-season, so where the fuck do you get off? Crawl back into your burrow there’s a good chap.

Oh my good god – please tell us we’re not in for more of the same from Wenger? We’ve lost 4 defenders and signed one, lost a striker and signed one, and we’ve still got two goalkeeping clowns. But he’d tell you that’s squad strengthening.

As for the ‘AKB’ they’re getting so caught up in this “our club is being run properly” rubbish that they seem to have forgotten we’re a football club. We made a £40 million profit last year so that’s what really matters, eh?

We’ve had 2.5 months of the summer transfer window come and go, and we’re now a little over 2 weeks from the start of the season. I fear that once again ‘The Arsene Wenger Project’ will make complete mugs of us fans and we’ll have yet another season full of myopic views and pathetic excuses to look forward to.

George Graham was a great manager for us but lost his way. Is it impossible that Arsene Wenger could be going the same way? Sinbad and co. Could you guys hold off your triggers till the transfer window shuts at the end of August. We all know that we are a CB shy in defence, you have said it, all the blogs around have said and Arsene has said it.

Do you expect us to go around and splash the cash any how cause we want a CB at all costs E.g paying £18m for Jagielka? Wtf….Ivan Gazidis is looking around, and so is Arsene. As of today, we being linked with at least 4 or 5 CBs which Arsene has failed to deny his interest in his post match interviews (mertesacker, tsaci, Diahkate, zapata etc). For crying out loud, we still have a month to go, so calm down and hold your horses. Come August 31, if there is no new CB in squad, you will have many Gooners pulling out their rifles and willing to shell out a few rounds.

On the goalie front, If we don’t find the right goalie in the market, im pretty much happy with sczeny being no 1. If you are good enough, then you are old enough, just ask Casilas and Buffon (both World Champions by the way). They were both given opportunities at a young age, and never looked back. With what I have seen from sczeny and with all the rave reviews out there, I think he is what a punt, but won’t mind the odd stop gap goalie such as Scwarzer for a year or two.

Everytime I stumble onto this shitty little blog I vow never to come back as it’s the most negative, unrealistic crap I’ve ever read.

The fact is that it’s not even the end of July and there’s still over a month to sort out any new signings. But yet this Sinbad prick has decided that wenger’s comment are “Hints”!?! When has anyone been able to second guess what Wenger has said in the press?

I’m pretty sure that we’ll sign another defender before 31st August. But if we don’t I’ll still support Arsenal and hope we do well, rather than spout constant poison and shite.

Sinbad, are you a season ticket holder? I guess not. But if you are then why not cancel this season’s in protest? that way you won’t have to support something you are so vehemently against. Then once we start winnning the league again you can come back
