Do we really need a new striker?

by Roger Milla » Sun Mar 14, 2010 9:26 pm

All this take about us needed a new striker in the summer and with a host of names linked.

But do we really need a new striker?

With RVP set to return and with Nic showing his worth do we really need to fork out money on a striker who might not even start?

Vela and Eduardo are hardly getting a sniff. And when RVP is back Nic is going to have to be happy with a place on the bench. So where is this new striker going to fit in?

I could understand if we were playing 4-4-2 then yes but with this one man up front i cant see the need for a new striker in the summer.

The reason we found it hard this season was because BOTH RVP and NIc were out at the same time.

The chances of that happening again is small.

So do you feel we really need to waste money on a striker? Personally i would rather us spend that cash on other positions

Since Wenger wants a 4-3-3, he also wants three players capable of playing upfront. That's why he's getting another striker. I imagine at points next season, RVP will play to the left with Bendtner taking CF.

I think we do. I think Eduardo is on his way out which leaves us with van Persie and Bendtner, with Vela still needing a lot of work to do. So I think we could do with another player to cover there, and interchange when people are tired. We are always in so many competitions that it is very tiring for the players. I think a strong striker force is key to any team, and at the moment we don't have one. Having said that, we are getting lucky with Bendtner finding form; he might jsut win us the Premier League, funnily enough.

I don't have confidence in Eduardo, nor Vela yet, and Bendtner and van Persie aren't enough by themselves (to handle the whole of next season). So yes, I think we definately need somebody to replace Eduardo.

And who knows? If Bendtner performs, we might see a formation change two something with two strikers, to accomodate both him and van persie up front.

We aren't a charity act, we're afootball club, and I think its time to say goodbye to Eduardo and bring in somebody new.

I'm pretty certain they'll be a bit of streamlining to be done closed season. I wouldn't like to say who, as it'll break my heart to see any of them go for different reasons, but if he's looking to bring Chamakh in, it's inevitable someone will have to go. That's football

A big part of me says no.

Another big part of me says Adebayor not being sold puts us top of the league.

Not exactly fair; I'd say a bigger thing would be van Persie not being injured would maybe have us at the top.

Curt

Eduardo signed a new long term deal at the start of this season. No way is he going to be sold.

With regards to the post, YES we need a striker.

RVP has never played a full season. And Benthner is very hit and miss. We do need a out and out target man as back up for RVP.

And as its already been said RVP can also play on the wings in a 4-3-3

would like to see chamkh come. if that happened, then all striker problems would be solved in my opinion.

we do still have vela and eduardo, but both have far from proven they are ready to start regularly and carry the front line on a weekly basis.

I think that Walcott & Vela are more wingers.

Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky can play on the flanks or behind the striker.

Eduardo can only really play in a 4/4/2

Leaving only Nic and RVP who can play in up front in a 4/3/3.

So YES we need more then 2 players as proven when Eduardo and Arshavin played in that role. They just cant do it.

Eduardo and Vela could be replaced, for those two I would bring in one attacker with proven finishing skills
