£5m Louis Saha to Arsenal?

From our man at goodison park and member of Arsenal Action Evertonian

“Rumors around Goodison today was that Louis Saha will join Arsenal for 5mill, The deal could be a player plus cash deal with Philippe Senderos going to Everton”

Saha was rested for the FA cup game today at home to Carlisle and the rumor  coming out of the club is that he is on his way to Arsenal.

31 year old Saha who has already scored 12 goals this season is currently on a “‘pay-as-you-play’ deal at Everton.

If this is true, I am delighted. He will be great for us. Has got the experience and is still a top player. Plus 12 goals already, now with the service at Arsenal the goals will surely keep coming.

Everton have Yakubu and Vaughn back, plus they are getting Landon on loan so this could actually happen, and Saha will not want to be on the bench with hopes of the WC still in his mind, but if Senderos does play tomorrow then would he really be involved in the deal ?

Kevin Davis could offer much more.

No center halves like playing against him, all our small players could run of his flick ons. He can score goals and is 31ish so its not like he will be holding anyone back. Could teach bendtner how to use his body right.

Plus when the going gets tough kevin davis would stick a foot in and look at the lads…..

Wenger gets rid of players at 31, he would not even give Pirez another season.

He is on his well form and i think he can replace RVP during his injury period. I think it is wise transfer rumour.

Not good enough for Everton but OK for us!Obviosly Dzeko would be the best option by far-never going to happen!Saha is another Sylvestre deal in the making!I still believe that Huntelaar would be a more ideal choice as a “Loan” signing. He IS a goalscorer but has managed to get himself transferred to 2 wholly unsuitable clubs given his style of play.If he worked out then he would make a welcome addition to a very fragile attacking line-up and offer a plan “B”.That said I dont believe that he will come and unfortunately the likes of Saha seem to be the type of player that we will end up accomodating-Baptista Revisited!

I hope that this is just a RUMOUR, we need and demand a new top quality striker for our team. I am fed up with Wenger trying to grow a complete team, it will never happen.

Come on Wenger treat the fans and stop thinking about share prices and mega profits.

    We deserve more.

A very good option as stop gap, £5m spent there could be a very shrewd punt. No gamble in my opinion, it’s not £20m and we don’t need a long term solution with Bendtner and Van Persie the obvious first choice options up front. We do need short term option, someone who can play alone up front centrally and someone who can ‘plug right in’.

I don’t know many better alternatives than Saha who fits those requirements to be honest. Joel, not good enough for Everton? – Come on he’s got 10 already that’s not a sensible comment.

Look guys, I think it’s possible and I’ll try to point at least three reasons this rumour to be truth:
    1. Louis Saha was dropped from Everton team v. Carlisle, also Phillippe Senderos wasn’t involved for Arsenal at Upton
Park, despite Wenger’s hints on Friday. So both aren’t Cup tied for this season and swap deal is possible.
    2. He will be available for Champions League, playing only in Europa League this sesson. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the situation was the same as Real Madrid’s last winter – the transfers of Lassana Diara from Pompey and Claas Jan Huntelaar from Ajax. They were able to register only one of them for CL and it was Diara.
    3. Louis Saha is a frenchman.

    4. No mention of Saha being injured on Everton’s website so no real reason to have him missing in a tough cup tie unless potential for him being cup tied…!?!

Wenger’s latest comments about waiting to see what Man City and Chelski will do suggest that he is going to go for someone world class. But if those clubs compete for him then he won’t have a chance. Thinking Dzeko may be the one or someone with similar status. He may have to wait for Chelski and City to make their buys first so that he can go for Dzeko unchallenged.

Maybe Saha is option 2 or 3.

Dzeko will go to AC, he wants them, they want him. The only further negiotiation will be his price.

We need a proven premiership goal scorer for short term cover.

    Everton need a decent defender.

‘Coincidentely’ both Saha and Senderos are not cup tied.

It is almost too perfect a match up and may well be likely to happen.

Further reasons of Saha being French is merely petulent embellishment.

Wenger would never sign such a player for £5 M…. If he signs a player then it will have to be a younger one. But the chances of him spending this winter are not so high. Probably he will try to go for Chamakh again.

Some of you are really living in the past with your ‘French’ comments.

If you look at the Arsenal squad on the site:

0 out of 4 keepers are French
5 out of 8 defenders are French
2 out of 11 midfielders are French
0 out of 5 forwards are French

Wenger goes for talent at the right price. I’m sure having a French manager means that some French players push for a move to Arsenal, but Arsene’s only criteria is if a player is good enough and will fit in.
